My confession: The Ad district is fucking beat as of late. Not much of a confession, but more of an observation.

I don't even read topics anymore. I only look for screens and their replies...

i'm doing it too, but i don't think the fact that it's not good is necessarily a personal thing as much as it is an unwillingness to put up with what's been happening around here.

There are some things worth reading, but going through pointless and stupid posts in order to get to them is discouraging to anyone. A forum is only as good as the combined amount of useful or interesting posts. Resolution? Post interesting or useful things!

More people should advertise and there should be less dump-place advertising.

^Yes. Admittidly I am one of the newer members around here but even I can tell the forum has been trashed over the past few weeks. I read a post from Posix about him wanting to advertise and bring in new members, but really that almost seems like a bad idea. With an influx of members like that there wil probablly be lots of problems, much like we have now. As for the current state, I am glad to see Fantastico get the temporary ban, not because I don't like the guy but he really wasn't contributing and it was good to see the admins taking some action. And then you have multiple locked threads, all of which have one of three Or four certain people posting in them or starting them and causing all the trouble.

So that's my rant. And if I am coming of as a cocky noob, someone please tell me.

I agree with this, but I don't see it happening. I'm almost wondering how a "trial" closing of the Dump Place would go.

Going back to what Ozone said, you have to wade through so much bullshit on this site because of them. A good topic goes to shit because of one post a "noob" makes and what happens? All of the better, well-known members of the site go on and ENCOURAGE it by saying something back until it goes into a topic totally unrelated to the one at hand. Granted, this has been going on since forums existed, but I mean, if you guys are upset about it, just ignore them. The less you pay attention to them the more likely they are to leave, because for the most part, their posts are borderline cries for attention. Stop telling them to shut the fuck up and just leave it alone. How about you go work on a nice little RCT park instead and bring some life back into what this site was initially about?

NE has always had its fair share of retards trolling the forums but the balance was always in favour of the sane members that contributed to the site. It seems recently the balance of active users has shifted and there are more retarded topics than relevant ones. It's gotten worse even in the short period I have been back for.

I think losing the dump-place might be a nice idea and would probably encourage people to think more about completing their parks/screens rather than posting a screen of an un-themed coaster to get 5 responses and then moving onto a new project. (To keep on topic my confession is I posted a screen of SoySauce against my better judgement for this exact reason...however I am completing it).

I've always wondered why there had to be a 'dump' in the first place.. I mean, it obviously is for dumping some screens of your work, but I think it detracts from the park topics and is only hurting the advertising district as a whole;

1) There are less topics in the Ad. being made because everyone posts their snippets in the dump.

2) No full scale parks will be started, advertised and more importantly completed, because people seek attention through their screens in the dump. Once they got their attention they drop the project and start something new because completing projects is hard. (there are exceptions of course)

3) Park topics will drop sooner (on the forum index page) because the dump is way more active.

4) It's hard to find back particular screens, because there's no way to search for them. If every parkmaker has it's projects advertised in a separate topic searching them back is way easier and quicker.

We could at least try and close the dump and see if activity and attention in the Ad. is rising again..
I don't think it's the main cause for the lack of activity though. Has more to do with a huge short period of (advertising) activity during the last Fiësta and post-H2H5. I think the site just needs some good park releases
