I don't hate homosexuals. I will go out and say this though: I hate homosexuality/faggotry/gayness/queerosity/whatever you want to call it. And I love how "bigot" is used perjoratively here. Trying to subtly make it sound bad, are you?

I never said it should be banned. It's impossible, for one thing, even in theory, unless we live in 1984, and I'd rather be personally raped by a homosexual than live in a world like that. Given the effectiveness of the government in other endeavors, it's double impossible. I think homosexuals should seek therapy, it can be cured. What should be banned is these pride parades and the general societal acceptance. If we take a stance towards these people as we do towards those with cancer, i.e., one of pity and grief that the disease exists and kills people and rips families apart, then we can start working to cure it. Either that, or I want to see Cancer Pride Parades, which is just as much a senseless, horrendous, filthy, malcious, cruel, bizarre, nonserious, outrageous, offensive, rude, backwards, preposterous, and dumb idea as Gay Pride Parades.

If anything in there was "subtle" then please let me now, I will do my best to clarify.

I bet it warms your heart to know that Homosexuality was once considered a mental disorder in the DSM-II, but we're up to the DSM-IV now. Meaning, the psychologists of the world who would offer that therapy firmly disagree with you, too. Homosexuality can't be cured, nor should it be. You say that cancer rips families apart--I say that it's your idealogy that rips families apart; putting the idea in parents head that their children are any less because of their sexual preference, causing "gay" to be a bad and isulting word, initiating hate crimes. Gay Pride Parades, like Black History month, came about to fill a void of acceptance and equality in society by forcing us to see them--forcing us to take notice. To deal with them. The most senseless, horrendous, filthy, malcious, cruel, bizarre, nonserious, outrageous, offensive, rude, backwards, preposterous, and dumb idea is that we ever forced them to parade themselves to gain any credibility whatsoever.

I wonder how someone with cancer feel about what you wrote, that being gay is just as damaging as their disease. I'm fairly certain they'd be livid. I actually have a teacher with cancer and though she is only a teacher, not someone I know closely, I' still scared for her life on a daily basis. As someone who has lost many family members I would say death is in no way comparable to sexual preference.

Cancer doesn't rip families apart, and neither does homosexuality. I've seen plenty of happy gay couples, and I've know people who have children that are gay, and they seem fine with it.

The idea that you can hate homosexuality but not hate a homosexual is just plain confusing. This is another great debate that could go on forever, but I believe that homosexuality starts at birth. It may not seem prevalent until later in life, but I believe that there are chemicals that are developed while the child is still in the womb that dictate whether or not they'll have the hots for Carmen Electra, Keira Knightly, etc.

And how exactly would you "cure" homosexuality? I suppose you might take a pill, but to my knowledge, no such pill has been invented. The only other option would be lots and lots of therapy. And it would be grueling therapy. It would be like trying to turn Rush Limbaugh into a liberal. Just thinking about the time and effort that it would take to do either of those things makes my head want to explode. And since I'm thinking under the idea that homosexuality is chemical, therapy wouldn't work either. You could try invasive surgeory, but that involves a lot of risks. You could try a sex change, but you have to get the person to agree with it. And I'm sure many gays would agree with me here, there's a big difference between being gay and being a woman.

But I still can't get past the idea that Kevin thinks cancer can be compared to homosexuality.
