Q: What do you call three black guys behind a barn?
A: Antique Farm Equipment.
Ohh a video of a black guy telling black jokes. Well then just watch anything Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock does.

Fuck you, you racist bastard! >
In all seriousness, I smiled at that joke briefly. I had never heard that one
As the only active black member (if I am not mistaken), I will give you all my two cents on "black jokes" and racism in general. Coming from a predominantly white private school, with a class of about 103 students, including only three black guys (stereotypically, all three have had pretty large roles on the basketball, football, and track teams), I have heard jokes such as this coming from white people quite often. Does it really bother me? No. Hell, at times I have laughed along with some of these jokes. Here's why, when I hear a joke like this I always weigh the intent. "Was the joke meant to be offensive/racist/hateful or merely to get a few laughs?" I ask myself. Furthermore, I feel it would be hypocritical of me to do jokes targeting other demographics, but get upset when people joke about mine. I feel sensitivity has become a major issue in the United States, and sadly, it seems like the black race is spearheading this. It is too often I see on the news Al Sharpton or some civil rights person bitching about something they thought is racist and bringing too much media attention to it. All they are doing is making a mountain out of a molehill.
Now this opinion is not an accurate reflection of what I would imagine most black people to say. I feel I have such a different perspective considering all my life I have grown up living to predominantly white neighborhoods, going to a predominantly white school, hanging out with mainly white friends, and dating mainly white girls. Now, do not get it twisted I have never chosen to leave out black people, forgot about my race, or chose to place myself around all white people, but this is just the environment I have been placed in based off of my parent's decisions (where we live, where I go to school).
Also, I am by no means naive to the fact that true racism is still a problem in the world. I will never forget, a basketball game I played in last year against some rural school in the middle of nowhere. It was the first time I had heard racial chants and jeers from the opposing fans and teammates that truly seemed to have cruel intent. It also bothers me when one of my white "friends" says to me that they like me because I am largely different from other black people, but they still don't care too much for blacks in general. I am not even going to go into this because it is whole other topic. I have already talked too long for a post in the game/polls forum. -

My school has three black people. And I don't particularly like any of them. This is unfortunate becuase it's seriously making me subconsciously racist. I feel very strange and alienated when talking to black people, and I really, really hate that becuase I think that they are no different from me in any way other than culture/past. -

Are they "gangsta" acting? If so, do not pay them attention because they are an embarrassment to the race. -

No, I just don't talk to half the people in the school, partly becuase I'm shy, partly becuase I'm in the fast track classes and partly becuase I'm not a small town person (I grew up in a compact suburb of LA). It's not that they're giving me a bad impression of black people (like I said I grew up near LA, in a very diverse neighborhood), I just don't talk to them much so I'm a bit uncomfortable talking to black people in general for some freaky psychological reason. Same with Hispanics, now that I think about it. Basically everyone not white or asian. -

I still think it is pathetic how people are prejusticed about one's melanin. Black Jokes (Heck, any ethnic jokes) can be racist, but only if someone who hears that finds it offensive, which it can be. I think that "real" racism can be when people physically and mentally harm someone bacuase of who they are, such as certain groups. People who still think racism is okay well, if you think about it, racism can be one of the worst things as it can lead to poverty, slavery, and genocide. Think about it, the Nazi forces were racist and killed; intimidated; and tortured several million jewish civillians in an act of genocide , and that was one of the worst things in world history. (Okay, now I am getting a little off topic here.) -

...You can't really fault a person for living within the culture they grew up in. Strange to say to a black dude, but don't be a racist. Are they "gangsta" acting? If so, do not pay them attention because they are an embarrassment to the race.

Thats why I said "gangsta" because I was referring to wannabe (real) gangsta, black kids that go to what Dr_Dude described as an all white school and act like they are hard and thuggish because they see it on BET and think its cool. I still guess that was a poor assessment considering I don't know there stories.
Certainly there are people (of all races) who truly grow up in these cultures with gang violence and they act this way. This is totally understandable, but there are also a hell of a lot of phonies out there. It are these people who I feel are embarrassing. -

^Ha nah bro I am far from racists. I went to a school with a lott of black, middle eastern, Asian and Hispanic people. So don't get the wrong impression. I am just the averaged white boy who knows a few black jokes. And to be completely honest, if you have white jokes, I would love to hear them haha.

Fuck....I'm trying to avoid posting in this thread because I have SO much to say...and, at my age, I'm probably the most qualified to actually have a take on this.
I'll try to be succinct.
No matter the color of your skin...how 'deprived' you feel because someone told you so....
You are what you are.
Deal. It ain't going away anytime soon.
Be who you are and let the rest of the world deal with you.Edited by K0NG, 20 September 2009 - 10:43 PM.

Also, funny story about black people acting like "gangstas":
So I'm on an airplane flying back from Galveston after the cruise to Mexico, and it's one of those tiny planes. Like, one seat on one side, two seats on the other, and four seats in the very back. No bathroom, but the flight was short. I'm sitting in an aisle seat with my mom sitting in the window seat. Across from me are two black people. One in the seat diagonally from me, and one right across from me and behind the first one. Now, the first black guy was working on his laptop. I couldn't see what he was doing, but it looked like he was working on a spread sheet. The second black guy wasn't doing anything at all. The first black guy wore a polo shirt and khaki slacks, and he wore a nice gold watch on his right rist. He was bald. The second black guy was wearing a white baseball cap tilted sideways, a baggy white t-shirt that had that Michael Jordan logo on it, shorts that went down to his ankles with all kinds of embroidered designs on them, plaid boxers, and really puffy sneakers. He also wore an assortment of rings on one hand, had a cheap looking gold watch, and really weird looking sunglasses on.
I honestly felt like looking at him and saying, "Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look?"
And what's even funnier is that when everyone got off the plane to pick up their luggage at the luggage carousel, he meets up with what I'm guessing were his friends, and they looked almost exactly the same. And then as soon as they saw each other they started doing those really complex fist pound things, and saying things like, "Aw, wuddup my G," and all that crazy shit.
And really, I just think that that particular segment of the black community (rappists, gangstas, etc.) just give the entire black race a bad name.
