Hi thar! I've been with RCTSpace for a good while (some may know me as **cjman*, and I decided why not try posting some stuff here?
This is the first park I've done in a while, so I decided to give it a cheezy/mundane name. I'm going for a busch gardens/colonial-ish theme. It's gonna be built around a decent sized lake.
entrance
the foliage/supports have since been filled in on this screen, but input on the layout will be appreciated! (I know, not a lot to see just yet)
main square. yes, guests can hang out in the upper level of that restaurant. there's also windows on the back for them to view out of, but that side's unfinished atm.
more of the main square. I wasn't quite sure how to decorate that skyride...
nice little bridge and viewing area for woody.
Any feedback is appreciated!! -

architecture looks pretty solid man, i like what you have so far.
reminds me a lot of my old work, but much much better lol.
i like the last screen in particular.
that helix looks really nice:]
i'm thinking with some properly placed white flowers and some bullrushes thrown in there, it could really look even better.
lose some of those ferns along the river bank though man.
it makes it look a tad bit messy.
regardless, this is a nice start dude, and good luck completing this!
oh, and welcome to NE:]Edited by In:Cities, 15 September 2009 - 11:25 PM.

^ Exactly, a good start, but it looks all a bit brown to me, maybe a bit of other colors in there?

Not bad at all. Very nice infact. Some of the buildings are slightly too blocky for my taste and the woodie lift hill could do with a few more struts. But otherwise a solid bit of work. -

Hey man, nice to see you here finally . (world, btw) Everything looks pretty good, an improvement from your last works. -

I think you need to make you foliage a bit more dense, so try adding more bushes in between trees and such.
As for you buildings, I think you have the right idea, just poorly executed. I think you should go back and maybe spark them up a bit. Maybe have the base of the buildings a different texture along with other parts of the buildings as well. Just seems as if you threw it all together in seconds and added detail just to add detail. Try and also not make them look as blocky.
As for that coaster... please get rid of that drop into that turn. If you can't make it work, then just rebuild it. Because unless you have it planned out perfectly, don't ever build that close to the edge of a map.
Keep it up though, your work is promising.

oh dear. I just realized I totally misspelled the title...FIAL.
in:cities - I've gotten rid of most of the ferns now. I totally forgot about bulrushes! Thanks for reminding me of those! And the flowers too. Good idea.
cena - Oh my...it is quite brown, now that I think about it. I have been repainting stuff, and now I think it looks much better!
roomie - never fear! the coaster is very well supported now. the blockiness is being worked out atm.
proest - I agree, the jungle foliage isn't quite as pretty as the other bushes, but they DO help get some height variation in there. I'll use them sparingly.
nin - HI!!
jdp - Roger that! (regarding the blockiness/poor details). Once I'm done laying out the main square area I'm going to go back and spiff everything up. Promise! All of the buildings except for the entrance are kind of rough ideas as to what they'll be later. And as for your advice on the coaster, I'll consider it, but at the moment I'm quite attached to the layout...
-Right now I'm starting on the FRONTIER area, and finishing up the MAINE SQUARE area. Once the maine square is done I'll go back and knock off any remaining rough edges and then move onto filling in the frontier area. I also plan to put in a victorian-ish area. I'll have an update by tuesday (hopefully). Thanks for the feedback so far! -

double post. oh well.
I've gotten a lot more work done in terms of buildings, rides, and pathing. But due to a random error trapper I lost a ton of greenery I had put in. (FYI - I HATE placing foliage. It's necessary but it's so annoying and tedious). Even without the lovely trees and bushes decorating my park, if I took any screens of the new stuff I feel it would still be too unfinished to adequately comment on.
So here's a small part I finished so I could at least put something up for the update. The queue and station for the woody - Timberwolf. (yes, one word)
I only have a very vague idea as to what I want to do for the station (you can tell it's pretty unfinished) so any ideas are welcome. -

Just my opinion but.....with the name being "Timberwolf" I'd think that using some grays/black/white in the station would benefit the theme. It would also break up all the brown that permeates the area right now. And, with the trees....at least use the Z key to TURN some of the them so they don't look so repetitive. Also...try to variate the height of your trees. -

^Heeeyyyy, good idea! I didn't want to make the station brown, but I didn't know what other colors to pick...btw, those trees are from the game's base set, so they are auto rotated. Can't help it if they all seem to look the same.
...
...ALAS! Inspiration has struck! I'll see if I can pull off this crazy idea I just got.
Any other suggestions for the station are welcome though. -

I actually think the trees look great, but the thing that bothers me is the lime green words on the sign. I'd change them to a different color. -

Yeah, I got hell for the sign color on rctspace...But yikes! So many opinions/suggestions for the forest now. I got some experimenting to do...

Mods can delete this topic. My hard drive was working just fine this morning, but after coming home from a church event in the afternoon I got what is perhaps the only thing more dreaded than the Blue Screen of Death...
"An Error Occurred - Internal Hard Drive (HDD) cannot be located. Attempt Reboot? Y/N"
Yup. My hard drive is dead. And it doesn't sound like it will be recoverable...perhaps God is trying to tell me something?Edited by SGT BLOOPER, 27 September 2009 - 10:22 PM.
