Great game, the D really stepped up and thats what we needed.

Yo Josh no more Marlins, but id like to catch at least one UM game this season. Let me know if your planning to go to any and maybe we can meet up.
  • In:Cities%s's Photo
ehh. i would really love to go to one man, but the tickets are just so insanely expensive lol.

i have a friend from my senior class who went to UM, so maybe i can try to convince him to somehow secure me an extra ticket.

he was at the game today.

    so intense!

i was at the venue tonight because i had another show, and there was a tv there that had the game on.
so between bands, i would run back there to catch the game haha

now for the right thread and a little late

    8 Oklahoma 20
    17 Miami (FL) 21

what a nice score to come home and see, take Oklahoma out of the picture now

    Nice job, Miami.

I'll admit, I'm a little worried about playing Duke next week, which is just sad. I thought after Pitt we would fix certain things, like poor tackling, excessive penalties, etc., but I was wrong. Yesterday's game was disheartening to say the least, and Russell Wilson looked pretty average. It could be a long season...
  • Dark_Horse%s's Photo
We had at least 30 missed tackles in that game. Some plays we're like 4 or 5 alone. As for the game, they did a decent job, Wake has been underrated. Good news UVA beat Carolina, but Duke is gonna be a test after the way they played VT. It definitely is going to be a long season though. I thought Wilson played really well yesterday though. He only made a few key mistakes. Defense and special teams coverage gave Wake that game.

Soooo glad OK is out of the picture....they are overrated every year. What the heck happened to Michigan...honestly, that was ridiculous that MSU won that game.

So, we win and win by a decent margin and they jump Cincinnati over us...c'mon AP people...Cincinnati played MIAMI of OHIO....lordy.

Anyhoo, I hope the Bucks stomp the Badgers this weekend...but I'll be in Vegas... :mantis:
  • In:Cities%s's Photo
^sorry to inform you, but i've always considered OSU to be overrated every year as well.

i mean, look at the conferences: Big Ten vs. Big 12.

the only decent teams in the Big Ten besides the bucks are Iowa, Michigan, PSU, and as of this year, Wisconsin.

the Sooners have to deal with Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, the Aggies, and Texas Tech, which are all quality teams.

as far as conference strength and strength of schedule, i dont think your bucks have much room to be talking against the sooners and their schedule against 6 top 25 ranked teams.
  • Luketh%s's Photo
Yeah, Big 10 is all around over-rated, whereas the D for the Big 12 usually sucks, so the offences look great in the Big 12.
  • In:Cities%s's Photo
^ahh true. i forgot about that lol.

however, the sooners have had a great defense this year, (aside from last week against my canes of course;] )
  • inVersed%s's Photo
Look at Cinci, ahead of the Buckeyes! When does this ever happen?

I will say I will say I only expect to see the Buckeyes increase their rank by defeating the Badgers this week
  • Dark_Horse%s's Photo
I have disagree with both of you, Becky and In:Cities. The Big 12 is the most overrated conference in College Football IMO. THe reason: scores weekly in the 40 pt range for both teams. The lack of defense in the Big 12 is a big part of the reason why I think the conference is overrated. There are a few teams that do have a good defense, but the conference as a whole is overloaded on offense.

On the other side, the Big 10 only has 3 quality teams: PSU, OSU, and Wisconsin. Iowa and Mich and MSU, I would consider all overrated. They pull off the wins when they need to, but I don't expect them in some prestigious bowl.

^not sure what you are disagreeing with me about...because I never said anything but that OK was overrated which apparently you do agree with me... :bunny:

So anyhoo....go Bucks..two more days and I'll be in Vegas :mantis:
  • gir%s's Photo
Haha and will you be putting money on the Bucks?

NC STATE Football Team Ratings (by me)

Offense: B+. Wilson is a definite threat and playmaker with the ball. I still think he needs to learn to throw the ball away more often, but that's just me.

Defense: D. One of the most bizarre (and worst) defensive schemes I've ever seen. Corners and backs lined up 10-20 yards off the receivers, and no one seemed to cover the middle of the field. 3rd week in a row, the Pack defense looked terrible. They were so bad, Thaddeus Lewis (Duke QB) actually looked like he could have been in the Heisman race.

Special Teams: C+. Missed blocks and missed tackles, punts bouncing off returners. Only reason I give them a + is for Jeff Ruiz's (NC State P) awesome acting job on the roughing the kicker. Actually that (and Graham's 93 yd kickoff return (which I missed since I was in line for food) were about the only really entertaining times of the game)

    Any thoughts, gir?
  • gir%s's Photo
My thoughts are that the more things change, the more they stay the same. I have come to expect nothing more of NC State athletics than to be perennially disappointed.
