Wow what a crazy night, the three players that me and deano have all went off
Luckily for me Brees is just completely absurd -

Nice one Comet, good win. I don't like my squad too much now, too many big names with low production (Stafford, Fitz and of late Megatron spring to mind although wouldn't dare to complain about the latter!) -

Yeah I've been wondering how that works, I'm never where I expect to be
Also, HUGE matchup this week between me and you K0NG, looks like the winner takes the last playoff spot. I'm desperately hoping for McFadden to get back into my lineup
Am I right in saying that Kumba, chapelz, deano, tdub, and JK have clinched playoff spots; and other than me and K0NG everyone else is ineligible? -

It resets to the inverse of the standings every week, always has...btw. why am I last on waiver order? I didn't claim last week and many others did.
Glad you bring up the standings Comet...
XZ-Deano 10-2 (4-0) All set for a bye and will be #1 with a win
X-Kumba 9-3 (4-0) Can get a bye with a win or JKay loss
X-JKay 9-3 (2-2) In and needs a win and Kumba loss for a bye
X-tdub 7-5 (3-1) locked into the #4 or #5 seed.
X-Chapelz 7-5 (1-3) Locked in as the #5 or #6 seed, maybe #4
Comet 6-6 (2-2) Needs to win, or might be in thx to win of the East
K0NG 6-6 (1-3) Win and he's in, maybe... lose and he's done
x = clinched playoff birth
z = clinched first-round bye
Need to check, but Comet you might already be in thanks to the fact that you clinched your division. If it's just overall record then you'll need to beat K0NG in your week 13 match-up.
A key factor here is that your division records (which are already locked-in) are the first tie-breaker if your the same as someone else in the standings.
I will give ESPN a call later and find out about weather Comet is already in. -

Yeah, since we (I thought) decided prior to the season start that it would be the 4 division winners plus the 2 best non-division winners with the best records that will make the playoffs, I'm pretty sure my fucking upset loss to panther ended any hopes I had for making the playoffs. On the other hand...if we never truly decided that and it's the best 6 records overall, I still have a shot. If so.....check out the projection for this matchup between me and Comet:
BTW...ESPN also gives you the weather? -

A win finally. Too little too late though, and I'm going against the dream team this week so my success is expected to be short lived. -

Was scrolling back to see what we decided about playoffs and I found this:
Since that post was the last one that mentioned anything about playoff seeding before the season started, I guess this means me and Comet go head-to-head for the final playoff spot this week after all. This custom schedule is a pain in the ass and it's just going to take to much time. Im just gona remove the 1-point home field advantage and reset it so ESPN will generate a new schedule. Top 8 teams will still make the playoffs, the divisions won't mean much now.
The schedule you see now is what you'll have this season. -

When I said that I think I was referring to the fact they you'd play on weeks with byes and stuff unlike in 2010 when I did it all custom and made sure no division game had a NFL bye-week.
Word from ESPN is that Comet gets a playoff spot since he won his division...
Since it's a custom league manager league I can swap playoff teams. I think best way to do it is that we let the winner of your week 13 match get the last playoff spot. Really up to Comet since the current default settings give him the spot. Also the NFL would do it the same way, even give Comet a round-one home game.
So Comet want to give K0NG a spot at your playoff spot?
I think either way has its case. Just if K0NG wins I think it kinda sucks that a team with a top 6 record would not be one of the 6 playoff teams. -
Comet Offline
Yeah I'll give him a shot at it but next year we really need to organize this better because it reminds me a lot of how I tied in the championship game last year based off of home field advantage, something that we were really indecisive about then, and I think we actually put the result of the championship game up for vote
The only thing we're forgetting here though is that we're letting chapelz and tdub off easy by changing the format. Because if K0NG was to win and either one of them lose it would be down to a tie-breaker between two 7-6 teams. So if I do end up just getting the spot at 6-7 that doesn't necessarily eliminate K0NG
Overall I think it'd be a much more entertaining week around the league if we kept it the way it is but I agree it'd be unfair for me to get in at 6-7 while a 7-6 team doesn't. I'd be interested to hear other peoples opinions too I don't think it should just be up to me -

The part I was pointing out is..."Top 8 teams will still make the playoffs, the divisions won't mean much now."
I mean...ESPN doesn't run our league and we DID create our own rules. Although I don't think (from scrolling back through the posts) that we ever decided that divisional winners would get playoff spots over teams with better records. I know it had been discussed but, I think that last post by Kumba says it best.
We can just look at this last week matchup as a sort of wild card play-in game which made the last day of this years baseball season awesome. -

I have said it a few times and I'll say it again... im glad this is not a cash league!
Still this is annoying. If you guys want we can start voting on structure for next year. I suggest no divisions and using total points as the first tie-breaker, has worked pretty well in other leagues I am in. -

I don't mind how the playoffs are done as long as it's decided early on. Have had that issue with another league and it can get messy!
I think the flex spot should cover tight ends too, and I think we should add another starting spot - another WR works well. I have too much on my bench ;-) and it's always fun when people have to scrabble around some more for starters, rather than making it easy on people with lineup decisions.
I also wouldn't mind seeing a QB flex spot, most rankings don't bring that into account so again it just mixes things up a bit. -

I think you mentioned this awhile ago Kumba, but how do the dynasty leagues work?
Would you just draft the same players for us as this year and then we would work out how to draft rookies on our own, or does ESPN actually have a feature for this because I think that might be pretty cool if we started it next year -

I think an added flax spot could be fun. Maybe a super flex spot that could be anything, RB, WR, QB, TE, D/ST.I think the flex spot should cover tight ends too, and I think we should add another starting spot - another WR works well. As for a dynasty league, I think it would be best to talk about that next fall. The way they work is you draft one large team and then keep that team indefinitely. After each season you need to drop a set amount of players (say 15 of 30) and then they go into a draft with the in-coming NFL rookies, so you still have a fantasy draft, only not for the big name players.
This is my first year doing one and I am still a bit unsure how the off-seasons will work. We wont be taking these teams into any dynasty mode. You really need to know from the start if your team will be a dynasty. I mean, if this was I would not have traded K0NG AP.
I think we can try and do a dynasty league alongside our current "re-draft" league we have been doing for the past three years.
