Welcome back to another thrilling season of fantasy football! This is the second year we NE Parkmaker makers have taken our talents to the gridiron and with 4 new teams anything can happen this year!
Below is a pre-season review of each team.
Kumba – The Miami Fightin Iguanaz – Kumba comes into this season as a heavy favorite. Not only did he win last year’s championship, but he also won the two other fantasy football leagues I played in. Some early trades have his roster looking quite formidable, especially at the RB position where he’s stacked with three top 5 RBs in AP, Rice and Gore. Kumba’s got a big 3 to rival the Miami Heat’. Still even if a roster looks stacked you never know what will happen on any given Sunday…
Projected Record: 10-3
In:Cities – The Florida Pelicans – Josh had a great start last seas as he won 4 of his first 5 games. He ended Comet’s amazing win streak to gain a spot in the championship, where he should have put up a better fight against Kumba, but his players let him down. This year he’s back with another strong squad and loaded at QB with a few good RBS to go with them.
Projected Record: 7-6
Comet – The Long Island Trojans – Mr. 9 in a row is back looking to once again pull down the #1 seed. He might not have Chris Johnson and Drew Brees this year, but with Andre Johnson, a good RB core and his beloved Jets Defense he could still do some damage.
Projected Record: 6-6-1
K0NG – The LA Apes of NB/CM – The old F***bucket is back for revenge after a good season where he was in first place at the midway point. Some roster weaknesses hurt him last year, mainly at QB. To revolve that this year K0NG did not wait around and took Brees with the #2 pick in the draft. A recent trade also brought him Antonio Gates and Reggie Bush, so I expect a strong showing from Keli this year.
Projected Record: 8-5
JDP – Team JDP – Our resident Eagles fan is back and despite computer issues and an auto drafted team, he ended up with a fairly strong line-up. C. Johnson/Flitz at WR is likely the best combo in our league and with that duo he’ll be getting some touchdowns. He also has the #1 rated TE in Dallas Clark. Also expect him to have some close games with In:Cities again. After just 1 season that’s clearly a top rivalry.
Projected Record: 7-6
Chapelz – The War Elephants – A late season turn around got him into the playoffs last year where unfortunately he became Comet’s ninth and final victim. This year he’s got a very strong looking well-rounded team. Then again, he had one last year and just could not catch a break until the end of the year. Let’s hope Chapelz’s team building skills trump his bad luck this year.
Projected Record: 8-5
Gir – The Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks – gir had a decent showing last year finishing with 5 wins even if he never really became a contender last season. This year could bring more of the same as the auto draft did not really give him any players that opponents will fear. Still gir is a pretty knowledgeable how is a hawk on the waiver wire. If anyone can start with a shaky roster and build on it he can
Projected Record: 5-8
Top Gun – The Carolina Corndogs – Hard to belive this guy ranked last in the standings last year when his team rang-up 1270 points which only trailed Comet and Kumba. The corndogs should be high scoring again as TG drafted an explosive team and once again he’s got Peyton Manning at the helm. He might want to try and find a few more RBs, but the rest of his team looks ready to go.
Projected Record: 6-7
Maverix – The Sandusky Mavericks – One of the two new “Mavericks” we have with us this year. His expansion team has pretty good line-up, but is in the same division as Kumba and Top Gun, which could mean “pretty good” won’t cut it.
Projected Record: 4-9
Panther33 – The Pequannock Panthers – After just missing the league cutoff last year Panther finally gets to play with the big boys. Something he must be used to as a high school quarterback. Maybe he can take us all to school on the field, but this is about captaining skills. I think we have right to question him there after he traded his #1 & #3 picks for a 6th and 7th rounder. His roster is alright, but he’s got some moves to make if he wants to contend.
Projected Record: 3-9-1
Maverick – The Raging Wolf Bobs – Mavs new to our league, but we all know from blaze battles that he can be a force at NE, well at least when RCT is not involved… Jokes aside he’s got one of the best players from last season in Aaron Rodgers. Even if he’s got nearly no really great RBs or WRs Rodgers mixed with good/not great showings could equal wins. Just the question is, how many?
Projected Record: 3-10
tdub86 – Cranberry Chaos – Expansion teams always get the highest picks and tdub got the highest at #1 and no surprise he went with last year’s #1 scorer, Chris “CJ2K” Johnson. Not only did he get the top RB, but he’s got telent around him some nice WRs and good position players. He said he’s won 5 yahoo leagues and I don’t doubt it. Expect him to finish ahead of all the other expansion teams.
Projected Record: 9-4
_________________________
Projected Champion: Kumba - The defending champ is giving us no reason not to think he can't repeat.
Projected Runner-up: tdub - CJ2K can take him to the big show, but it might be tp hard for him to topple the big 3 in Miami.
Kickoff start Thursday with the Vikings and Saints and then the rest of the games will be Sunday and Monday. Please make sure you have your rosters set!
Good luck everyone! -

Darren, liking the picks here man Its shaping up to be a great year, should be lots of fun to play with you guys.
And the 5X champ on yahoo is accurate.

Time to play some football boys -

Projections from ESPN have started going up, so maybe check those out if you want the pros takes on the players. Im on top with 132 projected week 1 points, but that should not surprise anyone
For the playoff seeding, like I said I wanted to do top 2 in each div, but ESPN seems to be set-up to give it to the 8 teams with the best records. Div. winners will get the first round home games tho, #1 seed gets all home games. idk, imo let's just let their system decides it is.
As of now all the rules are the same as last year. Then we added the 1 point to D/STs per 25 yards on Punt/Kickoff returns, so that will stay. Please post if you have any other ideas for rule revisions. -

Guess my 85% in the Yahoo leagues doesn't mean much here. I think Kumba knows my roster better than I do. :-p -

I'd like to see something that penalizes players for lost fumbles...but with you having AP, I know that'll never happen. As of now all the rules are the same as last year. Then we added the 1 point to D/STs per 25 yards on Punt/Kickoff returns, so that will stay. Please post if you have any other ideas for rule revisions.

Actually, I meant to say penalizes players more for lost fumbles....I knew the 2 point thing. I just wanted to see Adrian Fumbleson's production cut. -

Oh yeah...sure, fuck ME! On a night where Kumba's precious Adrian Fumbleson (who he offered to trade to me...for pretty much my entire team) is held to 9 fucking points, Brees can only manage 13...which fucking Shiancoe matches and Bush grabs an astounding 4 while Barrian comes up goose eggs. A normal night by Brees and Bush and ANYTHING from Barrian and I could have had the opportunity to continue my regular season dominance of ol' Lizard Breath. Oh well. -

I gotta say I facepalmed when I saw that Thomas wasn't starting and then only ran for a loss in the second half. Luckily, the Saints actually ran the ball in the second half so Thomas could score. I still wanted the Vikes to win though. -
Top Gun Offline
lol at JDP not starting Foster. I don't even think he even knows about this anymore. -
Kumba Offline
He had a computer crash, but should be back up soon. Shame he likes to wait and see how the games go before making trades... he seemed ok with Mike Bell for Foster
My team did ok, but I hope to do better next week. Lucky for me K0NG's guys were really weak. He'll need a totally amazing game from Gates/Kaeding to beat me and I still have Ray Rice to go.
In other news Comet seems to have the edge on Josh. girs gona have a win over Panther. TG leveled Maverix. Even if Foster was started by JDP idk if he'd be able to beat tdub, he scored big. Then Chaplez and Maverick is going down to the wire and now is all about Ryan Mathews vs. Derrick Mason.
Projected week 1 winners:
gir
Top Gun
tdub
Kumba
Comet
Chapelz -

I'm not really happy with how anyone on my team did except Jahvid Best
Anyway, if I can pull off a win this week I can't complain -

Ok so I claimed Jackson(GB) on Tuesday, it said it would go through on Wednesday, and he isn't on my team because I thought it would make the swap automatically. In other words, fml. -

Many times during the season you'll fail to get someone off waivers, might want to get used to it. Also I think you were ranked pretty low since you had such a big win week 1 and it goes by the inverse of the standings and points. I failed to get Jackson twice myself, even in a league were I had Ryan Grant, which REALLY pissed me off...
Working on a league news page update, should have it posted by Friday. -

Fuck yeah, Brandon Jackson
Top Gun I also claimed him on Tuesday not sure who did it first though
