    So, who's seen it?

    What did you think?

Personally, I thought it was a total let-down.

    Spoilers below

What's with omitting the entire battle at the end? Seriously!! My anticipation was building through the entire 'kiss fest', and then the moment of glory comes, and no action at all...

I am interested in why you thought it was a let-down because everyone, including me, thought it was great. It was funny, it showed main points from the book, and it showed that even teenage wizards have normal problems as well :) Guy smiley this "chapter" in the series never had large amounts of action, it was more or less just setting up the epic finale in the Deathly Hollows.

BTW I am really fucking pissed off at people saying the movie wasn't at all like the book. Okay no shittttt. The book is always going to be better because books have much more detail, and it allows the reader to imagine what people in the book look like. The movie is there for those who were too lazy to read the book and want to understand what the book hype is all about. Movies always leave out details that make the book that much better. But all of the Harry Potter movies have been MOVIES, not their book counterpart so as a movie HP6 was funny, had a plot, and had a reasonable amount of action.

Saw a midnight show. I don't think I've seen as many caped children before as I did then.

lol I saw the midnight show too. It was pretty funny seeing all of the fans. But it didn't compare to the midnight book release xD
  • Goliath123%s's Photo
I was pretty hyped for it too but i found it to be a bit boring actually, they seemed to drag things on for ages like when the followed Malfor into Borgin and Burkes that when for like 10 mins...

I saw on Thursday btw, first session of the day

I haven't seen it yet, but I think the films are getting worse with every new one. Nothing similar to the books anymore. I didn't like 4 and 5 that much, and number 4 was my favorite book.

I loooved it! The movies are getting further away from the books because the books got longer. It happens, and I Think they have done their best thus far to make the continuity in the movies work.

Really, the only major things that were left out of the movie were bill and fleur's engagement, which seems odd since the last book begins at their wedding, and the big fight at the end. I kind of understand why though. Bill hasn't played much of a role in any of the films.

Oh, and what was with the Burrow randomly bursting into flames? That whole scene should have never happened.

Saw it in a sold out matinee in Myrtle Beach, and saw a girl with a lightning bolt painted on her forehead and a cape. I can sort of understand dressing up for a midnight showing but to go out like that in broad daylight? Anyway, I thought the movie was fantastic and I think I'll probably see it again in theaters. Quickest two and half hours or so of a movie I've ever seen, and I could have easily stayed for another hour, as I was never bored.

Haven't seen it yet but can't wait. I just hope it carries the emotion that the book had into the film.

Plus I LOVE Emma Watson, she looked absolutely drop dead georgous at the premiere.

I haven't seen it, but my half Asian friend went to see the midnight show as Harry and Cho's illegitimate child.

Yeah whats up with that? Thats a big mistake as its going to be Harry's home for 2 months in the 7th movies. I suppose they could build another one in a few seconds with their wands

^That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about!

    Spoiler
Seriously, Harry runs out into a wheat field to chase down Fenrir and Bellatrix... but they just fly away??

I actually really liked the teen drama in the show, it came across really well. The quidditch match was great too! I'm mainly disappointed in the bathroom sectum sempra scene, and the lack of a battle at the end. Those are 2 MAJOR things that should have and could have been done better.

A castle battle would have been a perfect example to show off some magic, not to mention characters. Fenrir wasn't even a contributor in this show.

    Gonna watch it tomorrow. :)
  • Wanted%s's Photo
Yeah I was confused why Fenrir didn't have a larger story in the movie involving Lupin. Bizarre.
  • Goliath123%s's Photo
Maybe because Bill wasn't involved so there was no one to bite

Well, from reading the reviews and everyone's comments here, I'd say it wasn't a half-bad movie.

Haven't seen it, of course. And I don't intend to. I stopped reading JK Rowlings stuff after book five. Book five was sooo incredibly boring. It lacked the magic and mystery that got me to read the first four. I haven't read six or seven, and I don't intend to.

Besides, woofenskid introduced me to the Eragon series, and I haven't looked back. ;)
  • gir%s's Photo
Really? 6/7 are in my opinion the most interesting books--things get considerably darker. I read all of them but book 5, and when I started reading the 6th I couldn't put it down.
  • Goliath123%s's Photo
Yeah i find number 6 to be mt favourite out of them, and number 5 the most boring. I suppose i like number 6 the most because of the puzzle of the half blood prince and because theirs some good quiditch stuff in there, my faourite invention in all the books. Thats why in the movie i thought that the quidditch mach should of been better, i suppoe they thought people are bored with quiditch but i love it!
  • Louis!%s's Photo
Book 6 is definately one of the better, it's one of the darker books but it still keeps it's focus at the school, unlike 7.
  • Todd Lee%s's Photo
I agree that 6 and 7 are the best books. I didn't like 5 much the first time around, Umbridge pissed me off too much. I enjoyed it much more the 2nd time I read it.

I think had I not read book 6, I would have liked the movie more. It mostly boils down to them adding the scene at the burrow, and omitting the fight at the end. Other than those 2 things, I really liked the movie.
