Ask the Experts / Where to begin?

Hi guys, long time lurker of this site - good to see an RCT community still going strong. I mostly play console games now but recently broke my wrist so started playing RCT2 again.

Ive got so many questions to ask, but first of all.

What is the best workbench to use (smallish)
What is a trainer and how does it work?
    What is hacking?

and any tips on landscaping?Im trying to make a mountainesque park but really struggling, is there any pre-landscaped workbenches?

    Thanks all

    Hey SamTummo, welcome to NE.

    1, workbenches RCT2
this is an ace little bench, loads of neat items.
2, a trainer is like cheating. except nobody loses in this game.
it basically edits the memory in the game to your advantage. so its important to save often. more information atRCTWiki

3, hacking is a very open word. its a verb, and it has no definate meaning, but you learn the meanings as you play and interact here.

and about the mountain bench, i wouldn think that they are, but its really easy to make one. im presuming you can use the mountain tool?

if you need any help at all, you can PM me or attack me on MSN Messenger or AIM.

    all the best :)

    Thanks SSSammy.

When I try to load the workbench you provided I get an error (missing data?) and it fails to load.

and excuse my ignorance but what is the mountain tool?

    Many Thanks

okay, it is freely availiable in LL, but in 2 you have to use a trainer to access it after the scenario editor.

you know on the land over tool, you can go up?
    as in 1 tile
    press up
    2 tiles
    so on,

the mountain tool is Minus one, so you press minus as soon as you open the land tool

    :) seemples

and about the bench, open it again, and im guessing it should work, if not, give us a discription of what happens in this topic and well sort you out :)

    hope it helps

    Unable to load file
    File contains missing data..

    Hmmm? any ideas?

I thought I remembered that moutain tool, but for some reason I can't minus the land tile. Do i need a trainer for that?

yeah you do need a trainer :)

    file contains missing data eh....
OH, in the file, is there a little file caled JAGIGLT.DAT ?

if so, you need to find the rct folder,

My computer> click on you main hard drive > program files > infograms/any company that may have made your game, might be atari.. > Object data > drop the file in there.

    hopefully this solves it :)
to make life easier, make a shortcut to the Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 folder onto your desktop :)

Thanks SSSammy you have been a real help. Going to have a practice now with my landscaping and water coaster building! sorry to be a pain, but can you give me an idiots guide to using a trainer just so that I can create hills/mountains?

    Thanks

    certainly.

    firstly you need 8cars.

    i recommend using 3 trainers for RCT2.

8cars 1.302 : most useful, most commands can be used from here
8cars 1.32 : i only use this for the "toggle Chain" command, useful for X cars and eurofighters

SOB: useful for sinking scenery, making custom flat rides.

i think you can download them from the rct wiki in one of my preivious posts.
for th mountain tool, open a saved game in rct, press Alt+ tab (the little button to the left of Q) and then open 8cars. then go to landscaping, mountain tool :D

    easy as that :)
i found out all the other functions by myself, apart from toggle chain which Robbie92 told me on NEchat. haha

    good luck :)
