H2H5 / Playoff Scenarios/Mid-Season Review

Well we are about half way through this season and here are how the team and individual H2H5 records stand as well as some feedback on how each team has done:

Hurricanes

They started the season strong with World Showcase which was later named the best park of week and got a win over the Elementalists hacked Art of War park. The following week came with another win thx to Fisch and JDP's ImaginIt beating out the Alpha Legends. The Canes finally picked up a loss in week 3 when a pretty strong Spider-man got beat by the park I refer to as *

Whzz Kids (3-0)

The only unbeaten team left. They got a little lucky week 1 as they took down a promising, yet unfinished Flying Germens park. Their best win came in week 2 as the LL masterpiece SWS destroyed Afterlife and later won best park of week 2. The most recent win came in a controversial fasion as they went 3-0 thx to a DQ.

Alpha Legends (1-2)

Six Frags got his team off to a great start with the most narrow win yet as they beat the Minutemen 22-20. Since then it has been downhill with two losses in a row, first to the Hurricanes and then to the Elementalists, but in both cases they did pick up some vote and overall have put out really good parks all season.

Sadly the Minutemen are winless, but it's not for lack of trying. In week 1 they barely lost with Kidderbrook and in week 2 they faced the FG's awesome Waterpark and took a beating despite having a pretty good park in Bioshock. The most painful loss came recently as 7 Days in Prison was DQ'ed when many feel it could have been the teams first win.

Flying Germans (2-1)

After a tough start to the season with a PC crash eating up a nearly finished park the Flying Germans turned their luck around thx to #2 overall pick RRP and Liampie's awesome week 2 waterpark win. In week 3 the FGs got their second win in a row by beating the Hurricanes, which was enough for them to leapfrog them into second place at 2-1.

Heavily favored in the pre-season Levis' team got off to a tough start with the Art of War losing to World Showcase and the luck got even worse as in week 2 Sea World Sydney annihilated Afterlife. In week three it looks like Leo might have been on the good side of a park of the week for a change as people's jaws are still on the floor after seeing what looked to be a mostly Xcoaster themed Testament park.

Hurricanes vs. Minutemen

The Whzz Kids are pretty much in the playoffs, tho have not officially clinched a spot. The Flying Germens and Hurricanes are in good shape and just need 1 more win to clinch. The Alpha Legends and Elementalists will need to fight it out for the final playoff spot if they want to get in. The Minutemen are in pretty bad shape being winless and likely will not make the playoffs. Win % will be a big factor as a few teams will likely have the same record and that is the first tie-breaker (not who won when they played eachother).

Early Awards Front-Runners:

MVP
-Xcoaster - Testament totally kicked ass and looked to be mostly X's work. Also we know from past awards the fans love him.
-geewhzz - SWS was outstanding and gee is now imo the best duel game player.
-RRP - Seemed to do most of Calypso Quay which was one of the best parks of the season.
-Kumba - Did most of World Showcase and picked up his 5th H2H win which ties Corkscrewed's all-time wins record.
-Six Frags - He has already gone twice and done a really good job going 1-1.
-Magnus - Did a lot of work on Asterix which ended the Hurricanes hopes of going unbeaten.
-Fisch - Contributed Heavily on ImaginIt including one of the best themed areas of the contest in Japan.

Honorable Mention: robbie92, Sey, RCFanB&M, JiMeMo, egg_Head, J K, Liampie, Chapelz, Tolismir, Comet, JDP, DelLagos, Gwazi and Levis.

Well thats my review, I hope some of you guys add your own.

Whzz Kids have clinched playoff spot, the highest win % and the #1 playoff seed. A loss in week 5 would not change any of that.

Alpha Legends are in with a win. With a loss the ALs would need an Elementalists loss by a lower % or a % only 5% higher then the AL's loss to get in. If the Elementalists win and the ALs lose they will need big losses by the FGs and Hurricanes to make the playoffs.

Flying Germans are in with a win. With a loss the FGs would need an Elementalists loss by a lower % or a % only 5% higher then the FG's loss to get in. If the Elementalists win and the FGs lose they will need big losses by the ALs and Hurricanes to make the playoffs.

Hurricanes are in with a win. With a loss the Hurricanes would need an Elementalists loss by a lower % then the Hurricane's loss to get in. If the Elementalists win and the Hurricanes lose they will need big losses by the FGs and ALs to make the playoffs.

Elmentalists are in with a win and a loss by any of the currently 2-2 teams of by 45% or lower and they would need to win their own match by 70% or better to pass the 2-2's win %.

Minutemen can only make it by winning by a very big margin (they cant get a win % higher then 45% even if they won by lets say 35-0. To get in the 40s they will need to win by at least 76%) and a big loss by two of the currently 2-2 teams. Their losses would need to to be by fewer then 20% in all likely hood.

I think that is fairly accurate although it does not account for every scenario and the %s are close approximations.

Maybe I did 60% of the park, perhaps I did only 20% of the brilliance (more or less, I don't know).

I disagree. I think ivo did a lot too, although I can't be sure of course.

Ivo did quite a bit. He did all of the medieval area, probably 85%+ of Jerusalem, and a lot of landscaping and details throughout the park. I'll post a full "who did what" in a bit.

I think it is really hard to say who made what on the testament park. We all started some areas and helped eachother with finishing it. Although I have to say Xcoaster had all the ideas and should get the most recognition.

PS: I think it's unnecessary to adjudicate upon who has built what, so remember, only the entire park is what it is owing to all the parkmakers and that's why you should honorary mention all of them.

Well yeah maybe I should not assume who made what. On WSC id say I did 55%, so not "most" of the park, that would be like 75%+

Ok, so lets see some of your reviews

Potential MVP's so far are.

Magnus - Built a lot of Asterix and did it all to an amazing standard.
Geewhzz - Proved he's the best duel player out there so far.
Xcoaster - Amazing entry. Testament will take some beating.
Ivo - the second builder of the best park of the season so far.

I can't pick an MVP out of the hurricanes just yet but Robbie, Fisch and Myself are current joint top IMO.

Great writeup. It turns out that you say thx a lot, Kumba. In the final weeks I'd expect near-brilliance of brilliance out of the middle-of-the-field teams. Also, two or three single digit drafted players are still up for play. Good luck to all teams!

I expect some very high-quality parks by those bottom three teams the next round. Especially from the Elementalists if they want to advance to the playoffs.

Even though our park is gonna be mindblowing like always, if you look at our parks so far all of them were really good. The last 2 were up against the best parks of both rounds (lets say Asterix and Testament are about equal). I think the fact that we dropped from 2nd to 4th and lost 10% with a park like Dinotopia is just very very unfortunate.
But who cares, since round 5 is gonna get us a win hopefully. =)
