^ and ^^ Did either of you actually read? Even if SFSC takes out Parachute Falls, they only can build one attraction over the height variance. -

I doubt a coaster will fit into that spot so it might be a flat ride of some sort.
Also. -

I know that there was one of Six Flags Great Adventure, as it's still there today. I'm not sure about any others though, I would guess there's got to be a few around somewhere. How many of those parachute rides still exist? Seems like it would be a one of those historical rides that a park would keep around.

There was also one at Six Flags over Georgia. It was removed to make way for Goliath. There might be one at Six Flags over Texas as well. -

20th Season
The park released a small press release today that stated that Parachute Falls will not return next season, but instead another yet-to-be-announced attraction will take its place.
Yet another one of the original Charleston Gardens ride will leave us soon.
The ride without a doubt provided some of the best views of the park.
At least Derecho is safe for the time being.
I think it was safe to say Undertaker wouldn't be leaving!
Hopefully the park will announce the replacement attraction soon!

I don't get you people. How could a ride like parachute Falls be replaced with something like a roto drop?
I believe it is near the entrance and most near entrance rides are classic coasters or gentle rides. -
Dark_Horse Offline
Why can't it be replaced by a roto-drop? Don't a parachute drop ride and a roto-drop ride rely on the same principle of providing a view and thrill at the same time? Sorry for my wording, but I hope you get what I mean. -

Well there is Giant Drop at Cedar Point which kind of breaks Dotrobot's theory of gentle rides at the beginning, and the new SkyRocket at Kennywood is right at the entrance to the park, so a roto-drop definetly isnt that much of a stretch. -

Yeah.. I was being stupid i guess lol.. But darkhorse.. It might provide a same POV kind of. But the kind of thrill it provides is very diffrent the only similirarity between parachute falls and a drop tower for me would be that it's tall and it rotates. There's nothing else -

As far I can see they both go straight up, and come back down. One is a freefall, while the other is slower and floatier. I still think that being near the entrance is not a huge factor into ride placement, especially with tower rides. Demon Drop was near the front of the park while at CP. Space Spiral and Wicked Twister are near the front of the park as well as the new Windseeker going in the same area. -

20th Season
We're nearing the end of the season, and still no word on what's coming next year. The park did confirm that Parachute Falls will remain open for the remainder of the season, so you have a little more time to get your last rides in!
Both of the new rides in the Gotham Backlot were experiencing technical difficulties today.
Thankfully Chaos opened later in the day.
I'm not sure if Undertaker's ever been closed more than a few minutes since it opened.
I'm curious to see if next year's attraction will top Undertaker...
I guess we'll see!

20th Season
Today is the last day of the park's 20th season! It's been an excellent year, and the addition of Undertaker proves that this park is no longer a local amusement park. I think we can expect big things in the future!
Through the loop!
Everything is winding down!
Except for Undertaker's line!

SIX FLAGS ANNOUNCES REBELLION FOR 1999 SEASON
CHARLESTON - Ride it if you're brave enough! Six Flags South Carolina's newest thrill ride will forever change the skyline of the popular South Carolina amusement park. Rebellion will slowly take riders 260 feet up in the air in six four-seat carriages. Then, after a short pause, riders will then plunge back to the earth, at speeds exceeding 70 mph.
"We see this as another great investment for this park," manager Joseph Reynolds said. "We want to continue to push the envelope and offer world-class thrill rides at Six Flags South Carolina."
Rebellion is being manufactured by IntaRide. The ride will become the tallest ride at the park.
Season passes are on sale now. Rebellion will open in April of 1999.
