If there are 200 ft rides I say an Intamin mega, an S&S double tower, and an observation tower.
  • tdub96%s's Photo
^its 1997...intamins first mega was Ride of Steel @ DL in '99 i believe (correct me if im wrong)

froget intamin, Morgie all the way!

True that ROS was in '99, but these rides might open in '99.

Mr Freeze and S&S towers (one shoots up one shoots down). Three rides folks... don't expect two coasters that go 200 feet (unless its Batman & Robin the Chiller).

After reading all 39 pages of this topic, I cant belive how much 20 years can make a difference. This park is not that dinky 1 coaster park anymore, It has really grown into a nice Six Flags park with a big future ahead of it. This place has survived 2 bankruptcies, having a popular coaster removed, and a hurricane on top of that!

I have high hopes for SFSC.

I took the kids to the park last night - it was quite an enjoyable evening. The comfortable temperatures helped a lot!

P.S. I heard something is leaving the park. No idea what, though. I'll try to look into this over the weekend.

I hope its a coaster that leaves honestly, to make room for better ones.
Derecho is already running a few years so I wouldn't be surprised to see it go

I HIGHLY doubt it. Derecho is gonna be one of those coasters that stays forvever.

    19th Season

I saw this sign placed inside the entry plaza:

"VIPER WILL CLOSE ON JULY 31, 1997 TO MAKE WAY FOR NEW ATTRACTION IN 1998."

I was so shocked to see it. Viper, formerly known as Heatwave, has been such a staple of Charleston Gardens and now Six Flags South Carolina. I have no idea what will take its place, but rest assured I'll be doing a lot of investigating in the coming weeks.

    Posted Image
Heatwave opened in 1979 as the park's first looping coaster.

    Posted Image
Today it's received a new name and color scheme but it's still the same great ride.

    Posted Image
Until Vulture opened, it was the "big" ride at the park.

I'm very sad to see that it's leaving, but I'm very excited to see what will replace it!

Uh oh, the Viper will bite one last time on July 31st. Then, goodbye Viper.
  • fraroc%s's Photo
What the HELL man? First Carolina Calamity and Now VIPER???? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKIN???
There are very few Shwartzkopf shuttle loops left in the world! (Then on the bright side, Viper could be rebuilt at some south american or european theme park. Like King Kobra and White Lighnin were)

And you're absolutely sure you're not taking this too seriously, right? :|

And you're absolutely sure you're not taking this too seriously, right? :|

Well, to be honest I was kinda expecting it, I kinda thought it would happen in the 2000s, I would never expect that It would happen so soon!

Even though you say otherwise, sometimes I suspect you actually think this is real.
