    24th Season

I apologize for the sporadic updates. I leave for school in only a few months and have been very busy making all the necessary preparations. There hasn't been much news that pertains to SFSC specifically, except that it WAS NOT on the list of parks up for sale. I see that as a good thing, but some have differing thoughts.

    Posted Image
Only a few more weeks of being able to see this when I choose to.

    Posted Image
V2 (operating) is always a good thing to see when you arrive at the park.

Is it just me, or is Undertaker overdue for a new coat of paint?

    Posted Image
At least Derecho got a new coat for its 30th anniversary!

^The new Derecho paint job cool. more modern looking
    Undertaker- Bizarro in 2009?

Maybe SROS but not Undertaker. As for the park, very nice job. Makes sense that the condition of Firebomb and V2 are deterioraing. They were new ride types when they opened. And, hurray for Derecho. Looks fantastico! Lol at fantastico.

^medusa at sfgadv was converted and that was also a b&m floorless so how is that ruled out of the question? and the uncalled for obnoxious long straight track after the one element in undertaker seems like a perfect spot for themeing.
    -JDP
  • Insanity%s's Photo
^I thought about that too, my personal answer to that would be that Sfgadv chose medusa to change instead of maybe Nitro or Superman, because An early built B&m hyper/flyer doesn't really have the crazy intensity that an Intamin hyper does, let alone SROS at the time, as I can see, Nitro is too straightforward for spec FX (add a flame or tunnel at the bottom of each drop?) and Superman is too...graceful, but Medusa was somewhat of a tangle of track, and was in a way, asking for a renovation of sometype. If you look at some of the specFX rides today, X2, Apocalypse, Bizarro(s) to say the least, are twisted and perfectly fit for being renovated, if not being originally built as a specFX ride. Personally I want to see SROS remodeled, but Undertaker has a crazy layout, perfect for flames, Etc, but CD5 might have to follow the storyline and make SROS bizarro because Sfgadv doesn't have some huge 200ft superman, it has S:UF, medium sized and a little less than equal to medusa in terms of thrills. and if Undertaker gets remodeled, then Bizarro (the supervillian) will have a giant SROS(the superhero) practically looming over it, and the park will have to agonize over a storyline in order to make it fit, and it wouldn't really make much sense either, but with SROS re-done, then the everything is...In place.

and this is the most photos of this park i've ever seen in one page!

I see Green Falcon becoming Bizzaro, idk why
  • yocoaster%s's Photo
^Umm no, not at all...Green Falcon is one of the more CUSTOM rides in this park...it already made a name for itself, so it would make any since to change it IMO....But SROS or Undertaker perhaps.

in 2000 MEDUSA at sfgadv made a name for itself, it was the first of its kind and IT was changed. Love or hate my view, but Im keepin it real.
  • That Guy%s's Photo
^The point is that Green Falcon won't get the Bizarro theme because Six Flags hasn't done that to any of it's flyers, Green Falcon is acting as a Tatsu more than anything. If a Bizarro remake were to happen, it would either happen to Undertaker or the Superman Ride of Steel (Can't remember if that's what CD5 named it)...

...Or we can all just shut the fuck up and listen to JDP, because he obviously knows what he's talking about.

I spent the entire day at the park but didn't spend the entire day taking pictures. I went with a group of friends and got so caught up that I forgot to take that many pictures.

The park surprisingly wasn't that crowded today! That meant lots of rides on all of the coasters.

    Posted Image
Although it's not the same as when Vulture stood over Thunder River, Green Falcon works.

Another ride that's always closed is Chaos. I heard from a "source" that the ride will likely be removed within a year or two.

I'll see you soon! I only have two weeks left in Charleston!

My Last Day at the Park, Part I

I leave for school tomorrow. What better way to spend my last day in Charleston than at Six Flags. Since 2000, I have been bringing you all updates from this incredible amusement park. It will be hard to leave my friends and family, but it will also be hard to not have access to this park. Worry not, though, as I will continue to make trips to Charleston to visit. I will continue to bring you updates from the park. The updates will just be less frequent.

    Posted Image
I'll miss driving up to the park and seeing this view. Although it's changed since 2000, parts of the park will likely remain the same forever.

    Posted Image
I remember taking the tram to the entrance as a young child and being mesmerized by the giant rides. They don't seem as big today, but Rebellion still gets me.

    Posted Image
Since today is a mid-August weekday, I knew the park wouldnt' be crowded.

    Posted Image
I successfully rode every single attraction at the park, sans Chaos and Firebomb (I'll let you guess why).

    Posted Image
Green Falcon remains my one of my top three favorite rides at the park. I hope it's just as fun when I return.

    Posted Image
I even hopped aboard RoadRunner. If it's one thing the park needs badly, it's another family coaster.

    Posted Image
No lines at Undertaker equals several rides.

    Posted Image
"Beautiful" isn't one of the first things that comes to many people's minds when they think about a Six Flags park, but I have to say this has to be one of the exceptions. Perhaps it's a leftover from the mindset of the Charleston Gardens management, but I think landscaping has always been a priority here.

    Posted Image
On the other side of the park I took a spin on V2, which is another one of my favorites. Luckily it was open today!

    I'll have Part II tomorrow.

My Last Day at the Park, Part II

It sucks to say goodbye, but at least I know that I'll be back soon. This park has done a lot for me throughout my entire childhood.

    Posted Image
The front entrance has remained virtually unchanged since the park reopened after Hugo.

    Posted Image
Maybe it's a sign of me getting older, but I love people-watching. Perhaps because I can see the younger ones experiencing the park as I did back when I was their age.

    Posted Image
Batman was my first looping coaster. I was quite terrified the first time!

    Posted Image
Now it's one of my favorites.

    Posted Image
But Superman will always hold the top spot on my list.

    Posted Image
Bugs Bunny National Park was, in my opinion, one of the best things to happen to the park since Superman.

    Posted Image
With much regret I headed to my car and drove away from the park. Seeing Superman's lifthill fade into the horizon was heartbreaking to say the least. I just pray that I can someday move back to Charleston and hopefully work at the park. I know it's far-fetched but what a job that would be!

Thank you all so much for the support over the past several years. I will see you all in the late spring with an update from the park. I'm already counting down the days.

3.A Dark Knight or Tony hawk Big spin
4.Some kind of launch coaster (like furious baco) or an X-raptor for 2011/2012 (for an out of the ordinary experience)
