    23rd Season

I went by the park late by this afternoon to get a few rides in. The lines weren't bad so I was in and out within a couple of hours.

    Posted Image
Little crowds equals lots of rides without waiting!

    Posted Image
I only waited about five minutes for Batman, but only because they were running one train.

    Posted Image
Vulture was next - this ride either needs a rehab or a replacement!

    Posted Image
I have no idea what would replace it, though.

    Posted Image
And to end the day, a soaking ride on Thunder River!

I guess Vulture's end is inevitable now, with all that foreshadowing. I hope not, I've always loved Arrow Suspended coasters....

    Trying to think of replacements

Im guessing first ever terrain B&M flyer?

    Or it could be refurbished?

The park was a bit more crowded today since many students are out of school for Spring Break this week.

    Posted Image
It's still early in the day.

    Posted Image
Vertical Velocity opened about an hour late this morning, and I was lucky enough to be on one of the first trains out.

    Posted Image
It's fun to watch the coaster from across the lake.

    Posted Image
This part is very intense depending on where you're sitting.

I haven't been to the park in a couple of weeks so I decided to check it out earlier today. I've heard work will soon begin on next year's addition, which is supposed to be the biggest the park has seen in a while!

    Posted Image
    Oh hello, Six Flags!

    Posted Image
The lines were moderate - the longest I waited for a coaster was about 30 minutes.

    Posted Image
V2 usually has a longer line due to its one-train operation.

    Posted Image
Superman's lines have definitely shortened since V2's opening.

    Posted Image
This is only a hunch - but I wonder if Indigo Plunge will be removed to make way for next year's addition...

So the 200+ Intamin free fall, the 200+ Intamin Hyper, and the almost 200ft Intamin Impulse can be easily toppled by the next attraction?... okay.

This is making me want to dig up my rct3 disc and try the thing out again. I need more custom scenery though. I really like some of the custom trains for the roller coasters

I've heard some interesting rumors about the future of Six Flags South Carolina recently. Some are saying that the park will continue with its mega-coaster building pattern. However, there are some holes in this theory. If Six Flags continues to build these thrill rides, the ratio of thrill rides to family rides will become unbalanced. I guess we'll see within a few weeks what they have up their sleeves for next year.

    Posted Image
Derecho is still the only wooden coaster in the park. I've heard this could change in the near future.

    Posted Image
    It's still a classic, though.

    Posted Image
I wonder if future coasters will ever top Superman in height.

    Posted Image
We need more looping coasters as well.

    Posted Image
I'll keep you updated on any developments.

Ohh Ima try and play the guessing game.
Six Flags was introducing alot of B&M Flyer's and Vekoma Dutchmans around this time, and so that is my first guess.
CCI's were pretty popular and usually aimed at medium sized parks like this one, though late.
Deja Vu Clones were prety popular, though they were targeted at the bigger parks and would be a year late.
Ride Relocations were common then, maybe something like that.
TBH though SF was dumping most of there money into X at MM in 2002 so I'll be interested. Actually, looking at RCDB SF only opened 3 coasters in 2002, X, B:TDK and S;UF. (and Vampire and La Ronde if that counts)

    23rd Season

We're in the dead heat of August and I only have a few photos to share today but I do have some good news. The local newspaper has confirmed that Six Flags will be making another large capital investment in the park for the 2002 season. They did not say what type of investment, though. But at least we know for sure that big things are coming to the park!

    Posted Image
I've heard that Derecho will soon become a historical landmark! This should guarantee its upkeep in the future.

    Posted Image
V2 has been experiencing some technical issues lately but I hear that those problems should be resolved by next season.

I'll bring you frequent updates on next season! Things should get interesting soon!

No news lately, the park should make an announcement within the next few days. I've heard that ground clearing has begun across the lake besides the lower part of Vulture. The train has also closed for the remainder of the season. Hmmm...

    Undertaker's still doing its thing.

Today was a great day for a ride on Thunder River.

Gotham City Backlot has remained unchanged since it opened a few years ago.

I apologize for not updating the website over the past couple of weeks. After the attacks I haven't been quite up for going to the park, but I did drop by the park the weekend before the 11th and got some interesting photos:

    Posted Image
A lot of land clearing is going on in the area behind Tidal Wave. The park should make an announcement regarding 2002 any day now.

    Posted Image
V2's reliability seems to be improving.

    Posted Image
Batman was closed for a portion of the day today.

    Posted Image
    Let's go this way!

It was a nice day at the park.

Six Flags will announce plans for the 2002 season on Monday! I'm very excited to hear what the park intends to do with that large plot of land I photographed a few weeks ago.

    Posted Image
Here's another shot of the plot of land. Perhaps this new addition will connect Harbortown with the Gotham City Backlot

    Posted Image
It appears as if Indigo Plunge is safe for another year.

    Posted Image
I took advantage of the short lines and took a ride on V2.

    Posted Image
Hangtime on V2 never gets old.

    Posted Image
Everybody looks like ants from the top of the tower.

    Posted Image
The park was pretty crowded today.
