I cant get my RCT2 to work, it just wont start up!!!

ditto....but i think it is becuz of meh shitty comp.....COME ON ALIENWARE!....i want it to come NOW

I had this problem... then I cleaned all the dust of my CD... I no longer had this problem.

Don't know if it's the same thing though.

I had a simular problem, it would try to load, but the load screen would flash. I cleaned out my custum scenery, and it has work from then then on, and i have more custom after that time. maybe it was just a bad bit of scenery for me. sorry for you though man.

of course ill live, i dont even play RCT2 that much, no motivation....but still...i wanted to then

Alright, I'm sure you've tried all the usual things? Uninstalling the thing and reinstalling it?

1) Make sure, when you uninstall it, to move any of the saved files you keep to a backup folder (away from the main folders), that may be the problem.

2) Maybe delete any of the saved stuff you don't need (in RCT2)

3) When you uninstall the game, use the search function to find any leftover rct2 files like rct2.exe (or something like that), make sure you delete that too.

If none of these work, well, i'll think of something...

hmmm, it said somehting about rct2.exe existing......but i said ignore....lol....

I receive a message "CRC ERROR" towards the end of the installation.

To resolve this simply press the "IGNORE" button and finish the install. The game should run correctly. If this does not work please uninstall the game and remove all game folders it leaves behind and then try reinstalling the game."

This is how I got mine working:

Unexplained Lockups & Crashes

During Launch, the screen just turns black or quits back to Windows without any error message.

Reduce background programs.
1. Click Start, select 'run'
2. In the 'run' field type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) and click OK
3. When the System Configuration Utility windows appears put a dot next to the 'Selective Startup' option.
4. At the bottom of the same screen, take the tick out of 'Load Startup Group Items'
5. Click OK and you will be prompted to restart you computer.
6. Once the computer has restarted go into the game again and the problemshould be resolved.

The utility 'msconfig' starts the pc with nothing running in the background at all other than 'Explorer'. This should prevent any background applications conflicting with the game.

This if from an e-mail I got when I wrote to them saying my game wouldn't work. If this doesn't help you PM me and i'll send the whole e-mail as it has more stuff on it that you can do.

Sorry X ol pal...i got it workin last night, when Bigfoot said somehting about the rct2.exe then when it said about the .exe file I pressed reboot instead of ignore and it works lol
