i went to zero clearances using 8cars trainer and for some reason it doesn't work all of a sudden. i tried restarting both the game and the trainer, and it still won't zero the clearances. any advice? any other simple trainers that can zero clearances? -

It could be this problem if you're using Vista:

The solution is at the bottom of that page. -

hey thanks a lot that solved the problem. thanks for the quick response too.
since i created a whole new topic, I might as well ask another question relating to zero-clearances. For a while now I've had a problem, after repeatedly zeroing and restoring clearances, with trees and other large scenery pieces getting all glitchy (like they do during zeroed clearances). right now i avoid this problem by just not building large pieces until after I've finished all the zero clearancing. Is there a way to prevent this glitch? -

I actually have found a way although it's a pain in the ass.
From what I can see, the problem or glitch occurs when you are moving the large object around and you slide you mouse/object over another large object. What I do is move the screen/map/tile up to the top portion of the screen and place the tile just to the left of the window where you select your objects from. This way when I slide the object to the tile, my mouse is not in contact with the map but rather it's still in the object selection box. By the time I exit the box, the large object is in the tile I want it to go to. Once I place the object and before I move the mouse, I hit the "ESC" key to close the object selection box.
Although it's a pain, it works very well as I have been having the same issue with some road objects..
Hope it helps

That's a good solution to the white glitch problem RCTNW, but I think Genius might be describing the other problem where multi-tile objects don't seem to get their clearances restored properly. You can fix that by using an older version of 8 cars (eg 1.302 which there's a link to somewhere here...). The newer versions of 8 cars seem to cause this weird glitch. -

actually I was going to ask how to fix the white glitch problem too, so it's great you answered it.
Xophe, I currently am using 1.302 and getting that glitch...did you mean something older than 1.302?Edited by Genius638, 20 February 2009 - 04:12 PM.

often the problem occurs if you do zero clearence after you zero'd it already.
always make sure you first restore it before you zero it again.
and wait a few seccond between the two actions. -

There's a lot easier way.
Just hit the "Pause" key, select the full tile object you want to build, go to the tile where you want
to build it and hit the "Pause" key again.
Build the object and again, "Pause" key.
