Teal pathes look great. It's the icy blue pool that's killing my eyes.
  • zodiac%s's Photo
everything you touch turns to gold.
  • Katapultable%s's Photo
Dude! Were you born to design and build stuff like this?!

I'm not very fond of the teal paths. I'd rather go for that, what did they call it? Crazy brown something... I'm sure you know what I mean.
  • BreakAway%s's Photo
Holy crap that's a lot of blue.

Loving the screens though. Not really liking the teal paths. Everything looks ace though. :)
  • Rub!X%s's Photo
Very good work!. Looking forward to the release!

dislike the path, love the rest <3
  • Sey%s's Photo
    Same like MA,
I think the ice blue is the problem.

Still the rest looks too great to not mention it. Love it! ;)
  • Six Frags%s's Photo
Yeah, paths like we do them james, are always problematic to show on screenshots over here, while in game it looks alright..
I'm amazed at the speed you're building with though! Submitted next weekend(!), does that mean you'll be sending in all maps for CC or something?
    Looking forward to more!

    robbie92 - Thanks

Mike - I'm having a hard time with this one myself and part of the reason why I posted this particular SS so soon as I'm on the fence with the paths. Thanks

    posix - Thanks

dr dirt - I wish there were more options for the palm trees however, since I'm limited, I have to use what I have. That said, I'm going for a certain look and I need these to help accomplish it. I think once you see the area as a whole, it will be fine. As for the net, I forgot to move it. Thanks

MA - I like the look that the pool objects provide however I agree that the teal path is having an effect on the area. I just don't know if it's a good or bad effect to me yet.

zodiac - Except coasters. Those are still a shitty brown!

Mozilla - The crazy brown path will not work for this particular resort however it will be used in other areas. Thanks

    BreakAway - Thanks

    Rub!X - Same here! Thanks

Yannik - I'm sensing a theme in that you have very strong feelings when it comes to paths as you have disliked both I have shown. No worries though as I appreciate the feedback.

    Sey - Thanks

SF - Thanks and I agree. As for the submission, just to make it clear, I'm only sending in this one resort map. Aside from the other two maps that have minimal work started, nothing else has been worked on yet. The advantage of this project for me is that I can accomplish something like this quickly and get the feeling that I finished something. Regardless if it gets an accolade or not, knowing that I finished something keeps me motivated. Not all maps will be submitted. Some will just be released.
As for this map, keep in mind that resort only takes up a 1/3 of the map, the rest is dedicated to the resort parking area, roads, tree and the lake. So although it may seem I work fast, most of it was filler work. This filler work is needed to that I can keep all the maps at the same size so that it's fits together seamlessly. If this was a stand alone resort, the map would have only been 100x100 or so. Hope that helps.

    Thanks again everyone

Yeah, now I re-read my post I was wording myself poorly :p What I meant was indeed only this resort map.. It would be superhuman if you would've completed the others too already!
Anyway, thanks for clearing it up.. It sounds like a good way to keep yourself motivated.. Are you compiling one giant package with all of the maps in it, once you've released them all?

I love the teal paths. I just don't like the icy blue but still great stuff!

SF – Not sure. By the time it’s finished, the community will have died off by then. That said, I am working on creating a site where all the maps will be placed along with SS’s, aerials and facts about the project & maps.

    Misc Comments
Work this week has been steady as the resort map is nearly finished and focus is shifting to some of the other maps. The next map to receive some attention will be the Main Entrance/Parking Map. Again I want to thank Gee for fixing a black hole problem that came up sometime during the week. Fortunately it was in a place that caused minimal problems. As it stands right now, 4 maps are currently seeing some form of construction taking place. Although a couple are very early in the planning, I have found it helpful to get these concepts developed as they come up rather than dismissing them and then later trying to remember what it was I wanted to do.

The next update, we will be announcing the official name and branding for the project as Project Aries was just the place holder while we worked out the details.

    Again, thanks for following along

Damn. You're putting a lot of time and effort in this. Some of these should win an accolade, although I haven't seen much.

Man, I really love your style, James. Awesome work from you as usual :mantis:

Mozilla - Not all will be submitted as some of them won't have enough content to warrent a submission.

Carl - Thanks. Glad you like it

    Project Status #6 - 2/16/09

Today marks the accomplishment of our first goal as the 1st resort map was finished on Sunday and was submitted to New Element for CC consideration. This was perhaps the shortest build time of my RCT career as from start to finish, the construction took 16 days! I am very happy with the end result and even though the build time was short, I feel the level of detail fits my style and was not compromised in any way.

Today we are also happy to announce that Hyatt Resorts will be the branding used for the project. Currently, we have identified the names for some of the resorts/parks starting with our most recent resort. Lake Scarlett Resort will be overlooking Lake Scarlett and the future home of Hyatt's Ocean Adventures Theme Park. Our guests will truly enjoy the view and amenities that this first class resort has to offer.

In addition to HOA, we are also happy to announce the name of the second theme park as Hyatt's American Adventures Theme Park. Details for both these parks will be announced in future updates.
