This is the first time ever I really like your architecture.

    This.

    That cottage is very quaint.

I think that the entrance looks far too clean. If I were going away in a motor home, camping, essentially, then i'd want to be in a natural wooded setting, not a clean cut artificial one.

If you can keep the building itself, that's fine, and just make the surroundings way more overgrown and interesting. That would be nice.

The architecture itself is very nice, and i'm loving the ideas here. New stuff.

Thanks everyone. I guess I need to clarify a few things. First, this is not intended to be a campground. Thats why I was trying to avoid the use of "RV" in the topic. This is intended to be a high end motorcoach resort similar to Hearthside Grove. If you look at the construction photos, you will get a feel for what I was going for and I believe I achieved the look. Granted Hearthside is way over the top however I do have some basic sites (see the SS from 6/5/10) that are a bit more basic. I may build a more traditional "RV Camping" resort down the road but that is not the focus for this resort. As part of the big picture, we want our guests to visit the (what will someday be) the many attractions that Project Hyatt has to offer. We really don't want them to be "camping". We want them to spend the day at the parks and then come back to a nice resort type setting for the evening.

As for the structures, thanks Believe it or not, these were harder to build for me than one might think

Haha, yeah it must have been confusing for you to not have to use the ctrl key ;)

^ lol. The hard part was how to make a small structure look good as I have a hard time thinking in micro details.

    Project Status #52 - 6/13/10

As we continue our month of new announcements in during the month of June, we are proud to announce our next newest map to the project, Hyatt's Atlantis Resort and Waterpark!

    Posted Image

June has truly been a great month for me as the project is seeing more activity than I could possibly hope for as yet another map is well on it's way only this time, the work is not mine! For the first time, Project Aries will feature a guest builder that will be doing more than 50% of the construction and if early indications hold true, this is going to be another great addition. As some of you may remember, there was another Atlantis Resort being built however the builder wanted to take it to the next level. After talking it over with him, it was a perfect fit to bring the concept over to the Hyatt properties and I was hoping he would build it. It is we great pleasure that we announce that Cena has been included into the project as the key contributor for Hyatt's Atlantis Resort and Waterpark!

As you can see, the resort is well on it's way and it really starting to take shape and is actually going up very quickly. What make this map unique to the other maps of the project is that this will feature two attractions. As noted by the name, this map will feature both a Resort hotel but also the 2nd park as part of of the main Hyatt Property. The waterpark will not only be it's own entity but staying at the resort brings you added features/access to the water park as we continue the Atlantis Theme to both areas.

Above you can see the work that is currently being applied to the map and I for one am loving the results thus far as I think this is some of Cena's best work to date and am looking forward to working with him on this map. Thanks and welcome to the project Cena!

In other news, HED and HEPR are both making great progress this past week with HEPR well a head of schedule. More to come soon!

Wow that's nice, cool to see you (and Cena) incorporate some theming into the resort. I think the brick/plain texture mix works really well here, aswell as the colours. The atlantis towers look just a tad bit diffuse, it's a bit hard to get a grasp of how they're shaped. Maybe adding a colour would solve that, a ligher blue perhaps?

tomorrow I should have time for the thing I need to do for you (finally)

    That's impressive. Looks great, Cena.

Some of the lighting looks strange on the plain wall objects. Almost like youve use 2 different textures. It looks much better on the corner at the right of the screen than the left wheres theres some sort of checker board thing going on
  • Cena%s's Photo
^ I see what you mean, small mistake in object choices, will fix it.
  • BelgianGuy%s's Photo
tbh I don't really like it for some reason, it looks very plain and boring in a way, basically its just a wall with windows and that's it, maybe have some balconies or something to make it less flat...
  • Cena%s's Photo
Actually since I built it I wanted to reply later to include all the answers in one post but before things are being interpreted wrong I will reply now.

BelgianGuy: You are right, about this screen, this screen is only a wall with windows on, absolutely correct. However, I don't know if you know both of the Atlantis Resorts? (Bahama's / Dubai) but this is one of the lower towers.

A very large picture from Atlantis Resort Bahama's

If you see that picture, you can see a bit what I mean, at that picture, look at the far right, it's supposed to be kinda like that, not the main tower with the most luxerious rooms, but more one of the lower towers with standerd rooms. There will be more higher towers in this structure, which have balconies and other things to highlight that those rooms are more exclusive. I can see your point though. This hotel will not be a recreation from Atlantis Bahama's or Dubai. It will be inspired by it, some things can be taken over, but it's not a replica of it. That is technically not possible in RCT (search the building in Google Earth, top view and you know what I mean). Last thing I can say is that, wait for updates on this and you will start to like it. RCTNW saw more of it and therefore he says it is my best work yet, you will soon see more I think.

    More comments are welcome. Thanks
  • BelgianGuy%s's Photo
Now I know where your getting it from I see it but look closer cena, the windows could look better a little higher and pushed back into the wall a little more, or just add some thing wall blocks to give it more depth and it'll look a hell of a lot better I think, even if its the lower tower, maybe pm me about cuz I'd like to help you make it better than it is because now all I see is a missed opportunity to an even better screen, I think some thin blocks could help you a lot in this specific screen...

Plz pm me about the matter so I can explain myself a little better in dutch^^
  • Austin55%s's Photo
My biggest complaint with the hotel is that it has individual windows which looks strange. When you look at the picture you linked to you can see that the windows look like large vertical columns, which adds more flow to the building.
I also hope you can find a cool way to implement balconys.
  • Dark_Horse%s's Photo
I'm with everyone else here. It may be inspired by the real Atlantis hotel resort, but I know you can do better than Cena. I know I am guilty of flat-faced buildings, but this is extremely flat. Try experimenting with deco blocks and trim.

EDIT: Just looked at some pictures of the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, and saw that all rooms have balconies along the towers. Maybe to convey the difference between standard and deluxe rooms, make the balconies bigger for the deluxe rooms. Just a thought.

It seems like there should more to the roofing than what you have here. Here there's almost no border between the roof and walls, and just a bare roof with some small AC units. Shouldn't there be more to it than this?

Small Update - Although the official update should be sometime on Sunday, I wanted to give a small hint as to what the update will be about. All I can say is it's been fun doing this map.
