I have 6 tattoos and plan on more.

My family crest and my birth year in Roman numerals below


I also have a sun with a celtic know in the middle, the Guinness harp, Led Zeppelin's four symbols and my girlfriends (who I've known since 1991 or so) lips on my chest.

im not really sure what peopel see with these tattoes and peircings.
piercings im okay with, you can take them out, but permanant vandalism on your body doesnt reallt hold any value in my mind.

The other 0.1% being dicks tattooed on peoples arses when they are drunk in Ibiza. But still, even THAT has meaning, and sentiment, as crazy as that sounds.

Gonna get both full sleeves and whatever the hell the leg equivalent of a sleeve is on at least one leg. I think a neck tat would be totally bitchin, but I doubt I'd get one, due to having to work and all. I also kind of want to do something stupid like get my ears gauged, but I also doubt I'd do that, too.

I have never really gotten the matter why people disfigure their bodies with tattoos and piercings...


Lloyd, you said tattoos hold great meanings to the persons, who have one.
But why is this necessary? To let anybody know what you were affected by or that you feel?

I think it is more interesting to become acquainted with somebody just not to give the chance in beeing an open book!
People are able to know what they are and to be on the point of knowing this, is the key as for me.

If you don't understand, then it's your problem. The point everyone has been trying to make is that they did it for themselves, and that's all you need to know. I mean, why DON'T you modify your body? why do you wear those shoes as opposed to other shoes? Should I overanalyze your fashion statements, too?

I respect people that have it done, but I'll never do it. There's been nothing in my life important enough that I want to stare at for the next 40 years. The best idea I've heard would be to get my future child's hand print tattooed on my chest, but even that seems a bit played out.

I only don't like tattoos when people tell me they "walked in and decided it was cool." In my opinion, there should be some sort of meaning to one's tattoos.

With that said, I would have lots of tattoos by now if I wasn't so afraid of needles. I would have the Warcraft Horde symbol, "I must not tell lies" on the back of my hand, and a Figment tattoo.

Sey, although I dont agree with you in that I think people can do whatever they want with their bodies if they really want to, I like some of what you said, or what you were trying to say. Although tattoos can have meaning and represent a persons character, I do think its more meaningful if someone gets the chance to actually learn these traits about another person for themselves. That, and people already judge others based on their appearance through their skin color, physical traits, clothes, etc. I guess its your loss if you want to give them one way to judge you before they can meet you.

That said, if I ever become a famous guitar player with enough money to not ever need an office job, I would consider tattooing the bones of my hands.

If my future career was to accept tatoo's then sure I may have think about it, but currently they dont accept tattoo's or any form of body modification as you have to be completely respectable and look completely professional, it's just one of those rules.

What job are you going for?

I'm totally down with religious symbols tattooed, I might actually do it myself.
The whole Johnny Depp thing's cool too, tattoos for life events.
Quotes and names are also cool.

But when I see dragons and flowers and shit etched into someone's flesh I feel they don't deserve it. Impersonal tattoos like that make no sense to me.
Also bands. If you're in a band it's great to get their name/logo tattooed on you, and if they've been your favorite band all your life, but I know people who just have random band logos tattooed on them.

Nothing wrong with bands if you do it right. Here is another one of my tattoos on my right forearm. Bonus (easy bonus) to whoever knows this one:

There isn't anything wrong with body modification, unless the person getting modified thinks it raises their personal worth or "uniqueness" or some other arbitrary trait attached to their pathetically inflated ego or penis or both. Like some guy who's liek: I WANNA SCAR SO GRRLZ WILL THINK IM DANGERIOUS LOL - it just doesn't work that way, and just makes you a WORTHLESS SCAB.

Modification is only respectable if you did it cuz you thought it was neat (which is harmless, s'yer money anyway, bitch) or it meant something to you personally, the point of which isn't for being advertised anyway. Any other reason is just horse shit to make yourself feel special better than the other guy. Chances are, if you got a tattoo for a shitty reason, people will see right through it anyway.
