^i'm very interested in "addified"
and now that i understand how rctm works i agree with jj that this debate doesn't have to be held. if the sv6 and sv7 are identical then what's the problem? the parkmaker can just write in the readme that, if they have rctm, changing the extension to sv7 would be a good idea. this should be pretty self-explanatory, i think. no ne-rctm-policy necessary. -

This topic is lulz.
Too many people spoiled by rct2.
NOBODY should care about the legal status of these tools.
Only the impact on the community.
Chris had forsaken us long time ago. He never really cared about rct, it was just a fluke of a game he turned into a cash cow and then sold off to atari so he could make his precious fucking transport bullshit game. So, he can take his obj limits and fake invalid data boxes and other such things and just SHOVE OFF! -

Yeah - people need to delve (legally) into the game to get rid of obj limits and fake invalid data boxes. HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT RCT3 IS NOT SUCESSFUL?! IT WAS MADE BY ATARI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Edited by GigaG, 15 February 2010 - 12:44 AM.

I was rereading through this topic, and from the sound of it, we don't need a modified game, we need a new game entirely! Viva la Revolucion!
Seriously, it could be a community project (whether you're a programmer or not)! We could use the old data to create a new game with all of the built in functionalities of 8 cars, codex, SoB, etc. We could bump up the graphics a bit and get rid of some of the glitchiness that occurs from time to time. We could include some of the hacks that Levis uses, such as Thrill Lift, etc. It would be an open source project that anyone could contribute to.
So who's with me? -

I'm with you, FullMetal, as long as it is legal! We can PM each other on the topic, you know, to get it started! Then, we can make the concepts, but we need a development team.....
Also, the game should be a freeware download. Available to be downloaded by NE members only, to keep this exclusive.Edited by GigaG, 15 February 2010 - 12:45 AM.

erm fullmetal. I advise you search for TPB3D (Theme park builder 3d), its a remake of rct3 by people who tought it sucked.
just look at how much work that is. I dont think the rct2 community is able to pull this off also. you need some good coders who rewrite it like with openTTD and then everybody can step in.
'm still trying to get my housemate to do it, but he is to busy . -

It's not worth it. Why create one programme that does everything when you can just use several programmes that are already created?
It would be a complete waste of time and difficult to do aswell. So not worth it. -

I dunno an open source rct2 would be great. Ive been following tpb3d for a while though and they never seem to get anywhere,By the time they get it done its gonna look dated as hell due to thier use of a 3d engine. This is a prime example of how hard it is though, you'd need a really dedicated team that are good at all aspects -

I hate to say it, but trainers are literally on the edge of being illegal, rct utils as well. Same goes with stuff like action replay, gameshark, etc. The creators of these games made them with certain limitations that to their opinion should be left alone, and not modified by any means. The only reason we are aloud to create objects is becauause .dat format is generally used and not owned or distributed by the original makers of rct. As for .sv6, etc. is infact a default format specifically designed for rct, therefore they, the creators of rct, have the right to not allow modifications of their format. Trainers on the otherhand, they dont edit the games format, wether its .dat, .sv6, etc. Instead they edit the games memory. The only reason standing that makes this allowed. Once the trainer is closed the games limitations are back to normal. Even though the effects of using the trainer remains after it's use, its still considered legal because the trainer itself is a seperate program for rct, and its possible to run without rct installed even though its considered pointless like such. If the trainer relied on rct to run because it were a permanently part of a modified version of rct, then that is considered illegal.
