Yeah, in all the test cases, the gap between drunk and not drunk in terms of safety was dwarfed by that of drunk and drunk + tired.

Really, if you are too tired, DONT DRIVE. Yet people do that all the time. They don't know they are actually doing something just as bad as drinking and driving because there isn't a law for it they assume it's just peachy...

My theory is that half the people in LA don't know how to drive anyway. If you add alcohol to that particular scenario, dear goodness.

As with anything, I say moderation is the key. I don't think alcohol is evil or whatever, but nor do I think you should overindulge. Just be responsible about it. That's all.
