http://www.infidels....tml#good_to_allC) No it's good to believe the Bible.
So it's good to believe in a book that contradicts itself constantly and preaches that the end is nigh? It's good to believe in a book that preaches intolerance? It's good to believe in a book that instills fear in the hearts on many? You realize, Kevin, that I'm only scratching the surface, right?
In responce to tE's post, McCain is only saying the things he's saying now because he knows that Obama is going to kick his ass come election time. I honestly think that the only reason McCain picked Palin as his running-mate is because he wants Obama's female voters. After Hillary fell off the presidential bandwagon, many females said that they wouldn't vote at all. So Obama teams up with Hillary to try and win those voters back. What does McCain do? He picks a woman to be VP (president, really, because McCain's going to croak soon) and all the women jump over to his side. And what really ticks me off is when you hear on the news all these women saying they support Palin because she's a working mom. Not because of her policies, but because she's a working mom. Jesus Christ, ladies. Listen to all the bullshit Palin has to say, and then listen to Obama. Obama sounds much more sane.

Okay, maybe I worded that wrong. Obama and Hillary were working together to try and win the support of female voters. -

Meh, Obama and Hillary Clinton never worked together. In fact, what will make Obama looses the campaign is that there are a lot of Hillary Clinton fans that will vote for McCain instead. -

You do realize more than one person wrote the bible, right? Of course they all would have different interpretations of preachings and such. -

^That's the point. How can one religion claim to be the 'true' religion when the people who wrote its holiest book can't even get the details right? It's all flawed, so there's no sense in following it. You wouldn't use a broken wrench, would you? -

What you have to understand is that every one somehow wakes up at one point and wonders oh shit, how the hell did I get here? Clearly I couldn't just suddenly poof into existence could I?^That's the point. How can one religion claim to be the 'true' religion when the people who wrote its holiest book can't even get the details right? It's all flawed, so there's no sense in following it. So, you have a bunch of people who are essentially drunk and or stoned (and yes they were drinking a lot back then, bc the water was unsanitary to drink, not to mention the technology hadnt developed, so they were eating bread that was contaminated with toxins), who decide, hey whats the meaning of life? I think the rest speaks for itself.
As for the Obama/Hillary thing. Hill wants him to lose so she can run again in '12. An Obama win essentially means she cant run again until '16. However, I love that Biden says hes a bad pick. That is just too funny. On another note, I'm writing in Ron Paul. Either that, or the most offensive name I can think of. -

LOL Xin, that site is a joke. If you'd ever read the Bible for what it is you'd know that.

i've read the bible for what it is, and i still think it's a joke.
EDIT: the bible that is. not that site.
although some of the stuff is just played up to make it look more contradictory than it really is.
that being said, i still don't like the bible.Edited by thorpedo, 16 September 2008 - 03:18 AM.

This is useless. I don't give a shit what you think, alright? No one does.^That's the point. Each book of the bible was a seperate book. Most, if not all (I don't really care to research it), were written by different people, chosen by the church, and compiled into the bible. At least this is how the New Testament worked... There were many more religious books that were not included.^That's the point. How can one religion claim to be the 'true' religion when the people who wrote its holiest book can't even get the details right? It's all flawed, so there's no sense in following it. You wouldn't use a broken wrench, would you?
If it were all written by the same author, I could see it being factually accurate across the book, but this is like looking for differences in a King Aurther compilation... -

Well since the Bible is individual books written by different authors, I dont see why people cant read it themselves, pick out what they think are the best beliefs/stories/lessons for their individual lives, and make it part of their personal belief. Making the Bible that way almost seems as if that was the point originally. It almost seems like people go to church and the church tells you what is most important and what you should believe. This is based on experience, I actually did used to go to church. Even though there is a lot I disagree with in Protestant faiths, I think Martin Luther had a good point by criticizing the authority of the pope, priests, etc. They are in no spot to lead peoples lives, people should decide how to do that on their own.
