    Obama = change
And it couldn't come at a better time for this country. He's definitely got his work cut out for him.

I was sooo glad to see Obama win. I couldn't vote because I didn't update my registration after moving to FL. Oh well. The right guy for the job won.

We will know a lot more after that.

Where's the fun if we can't bitch about it in the meantime?

Besides, uninformed decisions are what America is based off of. (And apparently Canada, too, as evidenced by Kevin.)

On gay rights: Seriously, what are the consequences of gays getting married? If a gay couple got married, nothing would happen. The economy wouldn't collapse (KY Jelly sales might go up :p), war wouldn't break out, the fabric of the universe wouldn't tear, a killer virus wouldn't plague the world, indecency wouldn't run rampant through society, and I certainly wouldn't be affected. Nor would I care. Just don't be gay toward me. I'll work the taco bar, you can work the hot dog cart. Marriage is not between one man and one woman, it's between two individuals who love each other enough to make a commintment to one another that is supposed to last a life time. All this "marriage is sacred" bullshit is just that: bullshit. Pure and utter bullshit.

On Obama: I think that the celebration is justified. Black people have suffered under the hammer of the white man for years. Slavery, civil rights, etc. To see a black man become president of the US shows that a stepping stone has been crossed. There still may be racial hate in America, but with the election of Obama, we are one step closer to getting rid of racism. When you grow up in Southern California, you learn that black people are no different than you are. They have the same sense of humor, they are just as capable, they are just as intelligent (as far as intelligent people go). So why should the color of their skin make any difference? And I don't care if you don't agree with Obama's policies, but you have to admit that he is a very courageous man. Surely, he has to know that taking the highest position in America, a country still clinging to racism, is a dangerous thing. He must know that there will be people out there who would rather see him swinging from a tree that sitting in the oval office. And yet he still strove to become President. For that, I tip my hat to him.

This has got to stop. I'm Catholic, and I consider Matrimony to be one of the seven sacraments--so yes, that makes it sacred to me. Fullmetal, I don't mean this as an attack towards you, and I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but this has got to stop. You can have your opinions. That's certainly fine with me. Just stop bashing Catholicism and Christianity. It may be stupid to you, but it's not to me, so keep your blatantly demeaning remarks to yourself. If I started bashing homosexuals on this board, everyone would call me out for a lack of tollerance, but everyone finds it perfectly acceptable to exclaim how Christianity is so useless in our "intellectual" society, and how it's destroying all these precious rights. Christianity is something that I beleive in, and gay rights are something you beleive in. Let's leave it at that.

Kevin (keeping the trend here), you're a fucking idiot.

Yeah, but Christianiaty and Atheism are the two most prominent religions

Even when considering Atheism/Anti-Religion a religion, it holds a whopping 14% of the world's religion. It's beat out by multiple religions, particularly stemming from Christianity and Islam.

Well, kids will thing its okay. Yes, something would happen, the sancitity of marriage which is not bullshit would die. *cough*AIDS*cough. Yes it would, gayness is indecent. No it's true.

Again, a person doesn't see two gay people and say, "Oh they are gay, so it must be okay. I think I'll be gay too." No. You are either gay or you aren't. You don't become gay or not become gay because of whether its okay or not.

Oh and since it is okay, then that right up front disproves your point. Its generally not preferred, but if you are responsible about your sexuality (just like a normal heterosexual person), then it shouldn't matter.

And for the record, I am straight. No bias here.

*cough*AIDS*cough. Yes it would, gayness is indecent. No it's true.

Don't get started on that HIV/AIDS bullshit. There are plenty of straight people who have HIV/AIDS, and how dare you single out a particular group of people as being diseased, you fucking inconsiderate asshole!

On homosexuality being indecent, I will admit that a dictionary defines "indecency" as offensive to accepted standards. This would allow homosexuality to fall under the category of indecent. But none of the other things I mentioned will ever happen if two men get married. You fail to realize that what you think is right, is not right to another individual. Denying gays the right to get married infringes there civil rights, because there is no official document that states that marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman. (Religious documents do not count as they do not apply to all peoples.)

"Even if gays get all the other rights, they should not be allowed EVER to have children.

Except a lot of times gays pressure religious people to marry them and break into Churches and protest, so that's not exactly "not infringing" on the right to property."

Apparently gay people are not religious? My brothers ex boyfriend is a devoted catholic, and obviously since I said my brothers, he is of course gay. He doesn't protest anything like that.

And you have made me seriously angry on your first point. A gay single person may be a much parent than some straight person, it depends on the individual, what makes you think that they are not component enough to raise kids of their own. And gays can have kids, it's called a surrogate, or a lesbian friend who wants kids also :p. I know for a fact that I would love have to kids, but according to you I should never ever be allowed to be happy and you'd rather a kid lives a miserable life than me taking them in to my love and care? Giving that kid such a miserable life where gay people could adopt them instead but dissallowing them is much worse then just aborting them. You don't ever think about the kids in the situation, you only think about the people on the end of it. And personally I also believe marriage is between a man and a woman and would never ever want to marry a man but if others wish to do that, it is their choice and their right. Different people have different views. Religion is taught in schools but teaching of religious based ideas as being true rather than as a belief is not the way to go. So you're saying if the majority of people believed in unicorns then they should be taught about at school? While you may say christianity is not some fantasy, afterall it is based on a book and there is no actual proof of a god while evolution has factual evidence. In science you should teach science and the scientific factual based belief on how things came about. And in religious studies talk about creationism as a study of faiths, their different views, to learn about them, then the individual decides. It is not down to you to force your beliefs on to others.

Also as to gay sex being indecent, Anal sex and all that is practiced among straight people also. You keep forgetting also that gays do not choose to be gay. I am pretty sure that 95% of them would rather not be gay and would not have made the choice to be gay if it was a choice rather than biology.

It also makes me wonder why people create all these imaginary ideas in their head. None of it actually exists. And the only people that know that are those who were raised by animals. I'm pretty sure an animal doesn't go out to make a living, or discuss the activity in their brain. Well anywho... Back to my hole.

Christianity is something that I beleive in, and gay rights are something you beleive in. Let's leave it at that.

First, I agree that attacking Christianity is a stupid thing to do. Just so we're on the same page.

However, on a purely legal basis, the sanctity of marriage *is* bullshit. What is sacred in church is just that -- sacred in church, and among those who follow that religion. The rest of us may have different rules dictating what is sacred, or we may decide that nothing is sacred. (Which, before Kevin jumps on it, is not the same as discarding all morality.)

Ergo, a government separate from the church should not recognize sanctity. If it chooses to recognize marriage, it must do so on a purely legal level. No deciding that one marriage is less valid than another. Otherwise you are 1.) discriminating against part of the electorate and 2.) endorsing a state religion. History has shown very clearly that's a path we don't want to tread.

If you know a Catholic, they use the Bible right? zburns help me out here. You guys use the Old Testament right? If so, consult Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, 1 Corinthians 6:9, and I can get some others.

It's one thing to be gay, but to call yourself a Catholic as well is an insult to the Catholic Church, and I feel ashamed that a gay would call themselves Catholic, even though I will NEVER actaully be a Catholic, a Protestant is close enough. Anyways, if a serial killer or serial rapist called themsleves a Christian that'd be odd too.

I think that being raised by a straight single parent is better than a gay single parent, as the child will not be indoctrinated.

I don't recall saying gay sex is indecent, though the thought of two naked men in close proximity is at this moment making me retch and need to vomit. I never said anything about anal sex, and I am not going to say anything else, as I am not married, and I'll get banned from NE anyways.

If 95% of gay people would rather not be gay, that has numerous implications:
    A) I am wrong about them choosing gayness, which seems incredibly unlikely,
    B) They realize what they are doing is wrong! Good job guys! I'd be happy to counsel any gay man who wants to be straight, as long as for the first little while we could talk through a fence, I wouldn't want you to lose control.

I'm not going to comment on either of the theses in your last paragraph, as the first is ununderstandable and the second is pervesre.

Wait....did "3" come back to NE? I can't remember what else he used to call himself, but wow did we have some fights back then...if not...
Kevin...You are a waste of oxygen....please stop breathing right now.
    Cheers.
