Semiautomatic weapons are only good for one thing: killing a lot of people in a small amount of time. Something we really don't need anymore.I disagree with Obama on all those (he wants to ban semiautomatic weapons??! I thought Americans loved guns above most other things!! meh) and agree with McCain on a good portion. So you like his views, fair enough, I guess that's better than him being black or wanting "change" ANYTHING at all.
lucas there's no underscore anymore!!!!!!! thanks posix!!!!!!!
You can still kill animals with rifles, and car jackers can still scare the fuck out of me with a revolver.
America loves fast food and celebrities, too. None of them are healthy. -

I love all this "we did it," and "nobody can stop us now!" Who the fuck is "we?" Who's "us?" If this country is past the issue of race, then why the fuck did 97% of the African American population vote for Obama? Not because he's a democrat, or because he's the better candidate, that's for damn sure. This whole election is just such fucking bullshit. I have nothing against Obama. He's a good guy. But most of his supporters need to get their heads out of their asses and see the bigger picture. If racism is over in this country, then explain to me why this was more of "blacks" vs "whites" than democrats vs. republicans.
And so many of these douche bag college kids went out today and felt like the "hip" thing to do was to vote for Obama. If you seriously know your shit and support Obama, then I respect that. But so many people just went out and felt like voting for an African American was some "radical" accomplishment.
And now Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter is on tv saying that "this is a great win for us." For who? Last time I checked, this was supposed to be America voting for a new president, not a poster boy for racial equality. Damn I'm pissed right now. Not because Obama is president, but because I'm still not sure why he was elected. Obama's a good guy, don't get me wrong, but come on now. -

Racism has never been over in the US. yeah, sure, now MOST people don't feel being white entitles them to priveledges by birth right anymore, but god damn, how many people claimed that they "didn't know if the country was ready for a black president"? Think about it. The generations raised during Seperate but Equal are still alive. Where do you think all those feelings went?I love all this "we did it," and "nobody can stop us now!" This IS a big victory for "them" and it IS some "radical" accomplishment. Next time a black guy runs, they'll ask if he's ready to be president, rather than if the country is ready for a black one. Next time, maybe they won't use a person's religion as a smear campaign against a presidential candidate. (Every president except JFK has been a Protestant Christian, he being Catholic. Just look at how relgiously tolerant we are!) -

MA. I love you.
It's so crazy to say that Obama won because "all the black people voted for him." Far more voted against Obama for the exact same reason.
Racism is all around us and has never truly disappeared. There's this thing called "redlining" which basically keeps people of color impoverished and in the inner city. Schools get money through property taxes and "No Child Left Behind." Meaning that poor areas get less money for education. Which in turn means that they do poorly on racially biased standardized tests, so the government gives them less money. These poor schools can't get decent teachers to teach at them. etc. etc.
I don't even know where I was going with this. I was just trying to state that racism is not gone and our system actually works to keep everyone but white, heterosexual people down...
So yes. This is a HUGE moment in our history. -

The generations raised during Seperate but Equal are still alive.
And Prop 8 which bans gay marriage here in California is passing, at least right now. Which means Jim Crow LIVES!!!
I mean, for God's sake, live and let live. -

Congrats to Mr. Obama.
Good to see a black can win the elections in the US.
Looking forward to see if Obama is able to do what he promissed. It certainly won't be easy. -

Coincidentally, I PRAY people won't vote away MY fucking rights. But they seem to be doing just that. What the fuck is wrong with California... sometimes I wonder...
You guys DO know that this prop is just a stepping stone to many more laws aimed at disenfranchising a minority, right?
Don't be fucking stupid please, no one is teaching little kids about marriage in schools. That's called propaganda retards. Prop 8 is an evil fucking thing, and gets RID OF PEOPLES RIGHTS.
seriously, educate your lame-ass selves: http://en.wikipedia....sition_8_(2008) -

Man, I'd throw one hell of a party if that was me!
I'd be like, "The politics can wait, let me have one last night of freedom before I take over a country" -

I'm sick of all the racist remarks I've been hearing all night and today, and all the remarks about leaving the country and being scared. GROW THE FUCK UP.
Passing through the free expression tunnel today, I saw tons of NOBAMA and Confederate flags, and even "LETS SHOOT THAT NIGGER." I thought people were better than this but I guess not. The tunnel got white-washed today because people wrote KKK all over it. That never happens. This is really, really upsetting. -

what the hell is wrong with california? i thought they were the totally rad and hip liberal state?
shows me that although we have taken significant strides against racism since the 60s, we still have to open our minds a little farther to accept homosexuality.
it's funny how people who are discriminatory waste no time putting themselves in other people's shoes; gauging how it would actually feel to be the oppressed one.
or perhaps it's because they are? it's oddly coincidental that many politicians who openly oppose and fight against gay rights are the ones that are secretly engaging in these acts themselves. seems pretty childish to me; who elected those assholes, anyways?
what we need in this world is acceptance. i don't see how it is so hard, i really don't.
all this dumb proposition does now is open up an attempt to get rid on the rights and freedoms of people who are different everywhere - that doesn't sound very american to me.Edited by thorpedo, 05 November 2008 - 12:30 PM.

yeah thorp, i am LIVID right now...
livid that so many people in california voted to remove my rights.
One of these rights was visiting family in hospitals. You know when they say "sorry, family only" If you are married, you get counted as family. WIth a civil union or domestic partnership, you DONT.
This was just a slap in the face from a bunch of ignorant assholes that treat us as inferior for their own pride and ego. The rest of the people who supported it were just brainwashed or weren't informed of the TRUE implications. Believe me, the reparations to the law this sort of legislation is a GATEWAY for won't stop until fundies are legally allowed to LYNCH/SHOOT US ON SIGHT! Cuz thats what they really want to do, they say we are going to hell, and they don't mind "helping" god get us there as quickly and painfully as possible. Some fucking christians they are...
This may have been a good day for civil rights on the race front, but it is a dark day for those of us not exactly straight. -

Florida also passed Amendment 2, which was our equivalent to Prop 8. So lame. This is such a step backwards.
So much for the pursuits of life, liberty and happiness. Why is okay to openly, blatantly discriminate against homosexuality? If there was an amendment stating that "Every religion but Christianity is banned." It would be considered unconstitutional and taken off the ballot.
Thanks everyone for voting for more discrimination, more hate and more bigotry. I appreciate the fact that you've decided for me that I am a second class citizen and I don't deserve the same rights as everyone else. -

i think we should try and get a "everyone who is a christian is not allowed to teach in public schools" proposition passed.
that = taste of own medicine.
if that wouldn't spark an outrage, i don't know what would.
i, however, am not looking for an outrage.
i'm looking for peace and equality. is that too much to ask for? or do we still have christianity so far up our butts that we can't see anymore?
