You see, Kev, your type shows me those pictures so often, that no, they don't disturb me anymore. Fully desensitized.
Let's try some research, k?
http://en.wikipedia....rth_abortion.22
"Though the procedure [partial birth abortion] has had a low rate of usage, representing 0.17% (2,232 of 1,313,000) of all abortions in the United States in 2000 according to voluntary responses to an Alan Guttmacher Institute survey,[2] it has developed into a focal point of the abortion debate."
Also, I like the quote "In the United States, intact dilation and extraction [partial birth abortion] was made illegal under some circumstances by the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld in the case of Gonzales v. Carhart."
So, what you're arguing about is something that is already illegal in my country, and doesn't have widespread support of being overturned, and assuming you could ever argue either one of those points, is rarely performed!
Or perhaps you meant "Late Term Abortion"? See, that's the real medical term. "Partial Birth Abortion" is something the religious right came up with to make it sound that much more disturbing and disgusting. Even more fun is that your propaganda has always led me to believe that the child is ready to be born when this is performed, when in reality, it's done as early as 4 months. It's a little difficult to birth a child and give them up for adoption at 4 months.
I'm just at loss to figure what the fuck you're arguing?Education: No need to educate if you have no children to educate.
Economy: No need to preserve it if all the children are dead, everyone else whose already alive'll be dead soon, so why bother?
Wars: Won't be going on for too long if all the children are dead and the current soldiers grow old.
Our society will turn into the movie, Children of Men, within the term of Obama because every single child will be aborted?
And abortion will cause everyone to develop severe nihilism to the point that they no longer care about money or territorial claims?
And in the next 4 years, abortion will cause not only the newest generation to disappear, it will also destroy all the generations between the ages of 0-30, eliminating all need for education and the entire standing army of all the countries in the world?
And high abortion rates will cause life expectancy rates to severely drop, causing everyone to die "soon"?
Stop fear mongering. Your credibility is falling faster than the economy.
Let's try some facts, alright?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion
"The approximate number of induced abortions performed worldwide in 2003 was 42 million, which declined from nearly 46 million in 1995"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthrate
"As of 2007, the average birth rate for the whole world is 20.3 per year per 1000 total population, which for a world population of 6.6 billion comes to 134 million babies per year."
So, you have 42mil being aborted, 134 being actually born (which doesn't include miscarriages and aborted children. So the real number is probably closer to 200mil). OMG Look at all the children dying!!!111! With a population growing by 134mil a year, we won't have an army or economy in... Oh, right, your argument is inflamatory and a complete lie. Try doing some research next time. Wikipedia isn't exact, but it sure as fuck is easy.
The Patriot Act was introduced in a time of panic in this country. Anyone that did not support this bill was called a traitor, a terrorist and unpatriotic. You probably called them a communist and evil, too.Quite a lot of power, I suspect, judging by some of Pres. Bush's more negative doings *cough*PATRIOT ACT*cough*and*such*cough*.
"and such"... Hmmm, I've heard of that bill. Could it be that you're making up shit to prove your argument now?Edited by Midnight Aurora, 27 October 2008 - 09:07 PM.

kevin, it's not that we don't believe it is life.
It's that you don't seem to have the capacity to truly understand anything beyond the immediate circumstances and immediate distress.
Lets say that partial birth abortions are OK'd by congress when obama becomes president... absurdly unlikely, but what the hell, why not ponder it a moment shall we? First of all, The rate of abortions won't visibly increase from that. They are done so infrequently, that it wouldn't dent the population in the slightest. Yes, something heinous being "allowed" to happen seems really bad, but the truth is that socially, it would still be taboo, and therefore marginal in impact and invisible to most of society.
Now, also for the sake of argument, lets say Mccain becomes president and bails out wall street, cuts education, and most other social(ist) programs.
Economy flops, Tens of Millions more die each year from starvation, cold, sickness, and crime. Not to mention the failing infrastructure of our society, our energy crisis being hijacked by foreign interests, and the alarming consequences in the US's interdependent nations.
Frankly, yeah... the abortion thing is REAAAALLLLY low on my list. I see mccain fucking us over economically. I've heard from MANY different economists that my family and my friends' families are connected to, that what obama is saying will get us out of a bad situation, and what mccain is saying will cause the the middle class to disappear within a frighteningly short amount of time. And I DON'T like obama, and abortions to me seem immoral.
These things are more dire than a child dying. Yes, death shouldn't come to those who have yet to live, but the GREATER evil is to let suffer and die - the MILLIONS that are already here.
I'm sure you'll understand at some point, I just don't think it'll be any time soon. -

Kevin, consider the following point: the number of abortions performed in any year is less than the number of children aborted by the mother's own body. It's a *minor* issue. And by clamping down on it and screaming, you're making yourself look like a fool.
I find abortion... distasteful, honestly. And put in the position to make the decision, I probably wouldn't do it. However, it's not something the government should give a fuck about.
Also, for the record, the one thing that will drop abortion rates is full-disclosure sex ed. This "abstinence-only" bullshit is a tragedy.
Finally: going to see Sen. Obama speak here at JMU today. Should be interesting...

"Partial birth abortion" denotes that a mother carried the child for the full term of 9 months, birthed the child halfway, and then killed it. This procedure is done much earlier than that. The only thing that I'm arguing at this point is that the term is misleading and emotionally charged. I can prove it, too. Look at how you respond to it.Okay, "late term abortion," "partial birth abortion," w/e. Frankly, "Intact dilation and extraction" blows those both out of the water for disturbingness.
Also, it can be done as a I described.
I mean, if i wanted to argue it, I could easily find some statistics to back up my point that late term abortions are rarely done after 5 months of pregnancy.
I never said it wasn't performed that way.
Is it surprising to you that people follow logic and fact over emotion and fear mongering? Also, MA Congratulations! It looks like you have another forum groupie!
Your immaturity denotes a much younger age than you actually are.EDIT: Brent I am 17, 18 on March 4. The reason I am in university now (I was born in 1991, all my peers in 1990) is I did 2/3 of Gr1 and then 1/3 of Gr2, I guess I was just *THAT* brilliant. Why?
This is in the same situation as the Patriot Act. Scroll up and re-read.MA: I meant other things W did that involved UNETHICALLY spying, like the Domestic Security Enhacement Act http://en.wikipedia....ent_Act_of_2003 (aka Patriot Act II). There were others things too. No wonder the fundies think of him as a pawn of the NWO....
All things considered, the president could have suspended congress and the constitution in times of emergencies.
I thought I already called you out on making shit up? God damn, kid... I guess you are just *THAT* brilliant. There were others things too.

On the skipping grades thing...
Look, your parents have probably told you all your life that your are BRILLIANT GENIUS PRODIGY NEXT EISTEIN etc etc...
well, they did the same to me. Only, I was smart enough and an individual enough not to fall for it after a certain point. You, unfortunately, have a "followers" personality. You take instruction, and it feels "right" to you. You love being "merited" and love reaching "goals" that are set before you.
You were encouraged to do well, and so you did. My situation was not the same, my parents were encouraging, but didn't "expect" me to do well. The schools simply thought I was a weird case, and I saw counselors from 2nd grade onward. I was too much of a space cadet during those years. I could only focus on the weird things, the fucked up things, the social disconnects. People and understanding them became more important than grades or my parents pride.
But it really doesn't matter what happened during that time for any of us, because you obviously stopped growing as a person way too early in life. You were lucky your personality lent itself to following, it didn't burden you with deeper shit later on. -

Clearly you've not paid much attention to McCain's advisers.God, talking with Kevin is like talking to someone who get paid by McCain himself.
Anyway, just got back from the Obama rally here in Harrisonburg. Fucking hell I've never seen that many people in one place before. Wasn't even able to get into the convention center -- had to watch on CCTV. Still saw him in person, though, 'cause he was cool and greeted those of us who didn't make it in.
Now I need to lie down. It's fucking cold to be standing around for four hours.

Someone started a fire in one of the bathroom trash cans at school yesterday. They sent us outside in 28°F weather. If I had known someone was going to start a fire in the bathroom, I would've brought my hat. Fuckin' idiots...It's fucking cold to be standing around for four hours.
Back on topic, did anyone hear about Palin calling Obama's economic plan socialism? I saw it on CNN, along with the fact that the McCain campaign is using Joe the Plumber for publicity. Poor Joe... That's when I'd tell people to get off my back, or else I won't vote at all. -

The problem is it's all smear campaign bullshit built on a house of lies from the republicans. None of what you just said is true, kevin. At all. Stop believing that shit so easily, it makes you look gullible and naive. Oh that's right, you ARE gullible and naive! Silly me, I plum forgot! -
