hmm.
well, because i know their studio drummer, Ben.
he used to be in an old band with one of my buddies back in the early 2000's, and then went off to orlando for school up at Full Sail University, where upon graduation, he ended up being the drum tech for Brand New, eventually becoming their studio drummer and occasionally playing drums live.
i've heard rumors that he's actually part of the band now as a second percussionist, but i'm not absolutely positive on this.
i havent seen any videos of him on youtube, and was hoping to catch up with him at the show in orlando, but i never ended up going:/
so i'm not sure lol -

i think i heard something about how they ended the shows with Welcome to Bangkok and each band member walked off separately, and i think they might've had another drummer on for it. don't quote me on it, though. -

okay, so the concert was last night, and it was fucking awesome. can't remember the entire setlist for Glassjaw, but here's what i have:
You Think You're John Fucking Lennon
Tip Your Bartender
Mu Empire
Ape Dos Mil
Pink Roses
Siberian Kiss
once again, they played more, but i can't remember them all. Brand New's setlist:
Intro riff*
Sink
Degausser
You Won't Know
The No Seatbelt Song
Okay, I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't
Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades
Jude Law and a Semester Abroad
Seventy Times 7
Limousine*
Vices
Gasoline
At the Bottom
Sowing Season (Yeah)
Jesus
Play Crack the Sky**
*with 2nd drummer (so In:Cities, yes.)
**with Jesse's brother.
i'm actually not 100% sure that that's where they played Sowing Season, but i know they did and it was near the end. but either way, they played both 70x7 and Limousine, so i was content. -

just got back from brand new with manchester orchestra. epic show. i think both of these bands are setting the bar for how hard you should rock while playing. jesse lacey can fucking belt it out, too, holy shit the dude was screaming for over an hour near flawlessly.
manchester orchestra's setlist:
pride
in my teeth
i've got friends
i can barely breathe
shake it out
mean everything to nothing
the river
brand new's setlist as best as can i remember:
opening riff
vices
sink
not the sun
sowing season
okay i believe you but my tommy gun don't
the shower scene
sic transit gloria
jude law and the semester abroad
seventy times seven
you stole
gasoline
bought a bride
at the bottom
you won't know
degausser
jesus christ
soco amaretto lime
probably not in order, but i'm pretty sure that's all of them. the only part i had time to breathe was the intro to "you stole." they just fucking plowed through each song. i don't think jesse said one word until the end of the gig. vices into sink into not the sun was intense though. probably the best show i've ever been to. -

=O. you got Not the Sun AAAAAND You Stole? dude. not cool at all. and i'm definitely gonna wait to see MO until they have a headlining tour, that setlist is just far too short for me to enjoy. if they don't play Where Have You Been?, i can't go. -
Steve Offline
You gotta think though, MO's tracks are averaged at around, what, five minutes? I think the set they played was nearly 45 minutes.
I was surprised we got Not the Sun. That song intro fucking hauls some serious ass. -

I saw Manchester Orchestra back on September 15th at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids as the openers for the Silversun Pickups... The sound was muddy on muddy and Andy was tuning and retuning his guitar constantly. I don't think it was their fault so much as their tunes have a lot going on and the mix was bad. Silversun Pickups sounded FANTASTIC though, plus they played 'Kissing Families' and 'Common Reactor' (both of the songs I really wanted to hear that I half expected them to not play).
Saw Wilco back in October at the Hill Auditorium. They were excellent. The mix was a hair off, and they played nothing from Summerteeth... But outside of that they played almost all of YHF and AGIB, plus everything i really wanted to hear off the new couple albums (I was really looking forward to Impossible German and One Wing).
I saw Nana Grizol a couple weeks back... The Music Tapes are going to be at my house tomorrow night.
I really need to catch more shows though. They're fun, life affirming, and sanity-inducing.
