QFTBX2!
i actually wouldn't mind that. it wouldn't require as much building seeing as it's one coaster instead of a full park, and it has the same setup as H2H which people loved. -

My idea...
Use PT-esque prelims to get 5 non-parkmakers in.
Hopefully get 5-10 NE Parkmakers to commit, obviously if theres more thats great.
End up with about 12 people as Main builders, this will translate to 12 groups and hopefully at least 10 finished parks in the end.
Then those 12 people get to choose a partner (or two, depends) and do a 110*110 park (+/-) in about 6 months.
This way we will get a good amount of large parks completed, and it is still an "honor" to be involved while it is not restricted to the Parkmakers who might be less active. -

I know you people only have enough motivation to play if there's a contest. But the thing is, there won't be one for a good while. I posted about it before and we gave in for H2H5. We won't do it again this time. -

jeez guys, cant we leave it till posix and gee actually consider having a contest?
if i was looking at this topic from the admins point of view i would be so goddamn annoyed at this topic.
posix has said wait, so please do that. gosh darn.
they have alot on their plates, i think it would do alot better just to leave this topic alone until next year or whenever, when the admin are actually willing to host a contest. -

I must admit that I liked the prelims from the pro tours better than the main season in the ones I participated. maybe we could make a kind of competition like the weekend deadmatches which where a while back.
A calender is made with every 1/2/3 weeks a goal (for example make the best woody or make the funniest park). everyone can participate in the rounds. a first places gives (for example) 10 points, a seccond place 8 points, a thirt place 4 points and a fourth place 2 and a fifth place 1 all lower places dont give points.
At the end of the season a list is made of everyone who participated with all the points they collected to see who won.
in this way beginners or people with few time could only participate in 1 round to win that. people with more time or more motivation could try to participate in more rounds to try to win the whole season.
kinda like the tour the france, some people only want to win a etappe while others want to win the whole tour.
you could also introduce some other prices. like a "only coaster" competition where only the points gained in a coaster goal count. or a rookie price for someone whoe didn't ever participated in a contest on NE gefore are count only etc.
I think that could be cool -

sssammy, thanks for being very understanding
this topic has indeed become a little annoying because it kinda feels like people don't really care whatsoever and just keep on posting "me wants contest".
how about people with a contest idea try to make it happen? just that it's going to have to be unofficial and without any active admin helping out organising a schedule or releasing entries. that would all have to be done by yourself in the forum.
that way people could have a contest while gee and i could have some time to do the things on our "to do" list. -

^The thing is, official NE contests have a lot more attraction and are much more noticable. I mean, community contests have to be held at a subforum, so not everyone will notice it and you don't have the certainty that the quality will be high and that quality entries will be send in..
I think if you give the member organising the contest the moderating rights to post announcements (in the "News" forum and the "Contests" OR special made community contest forum) I think the contest will have a much larger attraction and more members (such as myself) will be interested.. Is it to be held at the "RCT Discussion" forum it wouldn't be a succes I think and other future official NE Contests would only suffer from it if at the end only a handful members got their entries finished or if the quality was really low..
I like Comet's and Levis' ideas though.. They could definitely work if there's enough interest in them..

So the essence or what you're saying is that unless it's an official contest the quality will be too low and therefore holding too little entertainment value for you. Therefore, it must be done by the admins, or as an alternative, by someone else who is granted access to the presumingly "more viewed" places of the forums. This entails many problems. But if there are promising candidates, I guess the least we can do is consider it. -

^^The essence what I was trying to say is that I certainly won't be interested and therefore won't be participating in a contest where I feel like there is not going to be a good outcome. That's also why I was not participating in the PT3 (while I was in PT1 and PT2). Kumba is a great guy and everything, but he lost it with the PT3. The qualification rounds were one of the best features of that contest and it was a real achievement to have gained a spot as a non-parkmaker in the main contest. Kumba kind of ruined it by all these crazy bonus rounds and bonus spots out of nowhere (like giving Xin a bonus spot because he entered almost all rounds).. These kind of things can ruin a potentially good contest, so once I feel like there will be a good competition I'll enter (but who am I ).. I think more parkmakers feel that way..
I feel that one of the ways to get a good outcome is good organization by the organizer, and the best way will be to give him moderator rights in the "more viewed" forums..
Another way is to get NE members enthusiastic, but that is up to commitment of the organizer.

So again, I try to conclude from your post: Any contest that is not done by a good organiser (and I thank you for the indirect praise that you're assuming the current admins would do a good job here) won't hold enough for you. And you don't trust many people, apparently. But since you still want a contest, it must be done by the admins no matter what.
Well then I'm sorry to disappoint that currently we have zero motivation to do one.
God, I don't even know why I'm arguing about this ... should've just let the topic be. -

You're drawing conclusions way too quick, Phil.. I know there are a LOT of members able of holding a good contest: They just need the tools.
I can imagine Levis being a very good one, comet too probably. FullMetal, Milo.. Reading this topic back gives a good insight who could be good organizers.
And there's nothing wrong with listening to your community, posix.. I think it's only for the good of NE to be even interested in giving someone the moderator rights to a more viewed forum..

its true a contest done by a bad organistor often doesn't work cause the chance is to high that there wont be an outcome or the results will be determined strange.
I agree with SF that if you give the organisator and own subforum to work in and modrights there that it could work.
Personally I would organise it if I had time, but there is anther things which hold me back from organising it. I want to participate and a organisator cant do that.
I could give an example. The rct-guide Grouppark was deviced by the crew of rct-guide, but none had the time to organise it so we asked the community for input and after that asked who want to lead it and gave him the rights to do whatever he want in the subforums which where for it. and now it still goes well. -

wow, that actually managed to offend me.there's nothing wrong with listening to your community, posix..
again, if there are people volunteering to take over the organising part, we can get into talks. so far i haven't heard anyone. -

Oh, and for the record, I don't want a contest (for at least half a year)..
First need to finish solo projects, and let you guys (admins) do your thing..
Please don't feel that there must be a contest started soon..
SF
edit; And how did that offend you?
