Is anyone else disgusted with how China is able to field freaking fetuses for its women's gymnastics team? What a joke.

yeah, even some of the commentators were convinced that they were like 12..

Although I was pretty disgusted with USA Women's team for making some silly mistakes.

But I'm really upset with the overhyping of Katie Hoff, she's won like one or two bronze medals and they start comparing her to Phelps.

Yeah it was upsetting to watch--there was so much potential. Though I guess silver isn't much to complain about it's just the fact that the Chinese had to go and get gold. When you think about it we shouldn't have a shot at gold since the Chinese grab these girls from their families when they're about 3 years old and start training. I'm sure glad that's not the way things work over here.

oh, well...

I still think we'll end up beating them out in the medal count.

Most of their swimmers suck and we're better at track.

Yeah.. the whole Olympics is being used as a huge PR charade to convince the world China is new and improved. In reality, it's merely covered things up and is nowhere near as bright, humane, and cheery as they'd like you to think.

I am always amazed at how stupid some people can be regarding issues of "child abuse" and gymnastics training. Arguably, any gymnastics training, in any country with any success, can be called child abuse. The kids will cry; blood, sweat, tears and all that. The thing is, there is no 'magic formula' for success which the Chinese are employing to win all these medals. Everyone knows how to win Olympic Gold. You must put in more training hours and more practice than your opponents, which will result in the ability to perform your routines better on the day. The thing is, the Chinese are the ones putting the most hours of training in, and they're the ones getting the results.

jem, i suppose you would know better than all of us, but when they showed a documentary of little chinese girls about 4 years old who were being "bended" against their will and crying their hearts out we rushed to turn off the tv and my mum even started crying. it was really really terrible.
funny to read that other commentators also mentioned the age issue on the team gymnastic finals. one mentioned that for some reason most of them were "supposedly" born on 1st of jan 92, which is the earliest birth date possible for them to participate. coincidence??

although i have to say i have always held a grudge against alicia sacramonie, simply because she just conveys a negative and bitchy aura of "i'm just better than you little fuckups", what happened to hear was really really tough ...
i hope to see the repitition of the individual finals later.

Ah, Canada did win some Medals after all. Good.

EDIT: Also, Americans, win some more Gold Medals. It would be a travesty if the communist tyrannical fuckheads over in China beat the free West. Plus, the States are my (second) favorite country, and Canada is not about to win 60 more.
