After an application and decision process, the New Element Accolade Panel is set. This new panel will judge all accolade submissions in a structured voting process that will ensure a much more accurate judging process for awards. 15 panelists were selected. This decision process was a long and extremely difficult discussion between myself, posix, geewhzz, and Carl. Several members just missed the panel and we encourage them to reapply as a substitute (see below). If you would like to know more details about why you were or were not selected, feel free to PM any one of us, or just post here. We tried to select as fairly as possible for a large variety of opinions and ideas.
The first set of members of the New Element Accolade Panel are:
5dave
Carl
CedarPoint6
ChillerHockey33
Evil WME
Fr3ak
geewhzz
Levis
Magnus
Milo

Why the decision panel?
This new panel arose out of a combination of factors. The current backstage area doesn’t always give a reliable vote, often with a download count to vote ratio that’s much less then ideal. When we asked for your thoughts here, you told us you wanted a change. Because of these factors, we’ve developed this system, which we believe is much better.
Now that the panelists have been selected, they will be judging past accolades in order to determine the voting number for each new accolade. The system is based off of an average, but we need to know what number a normal spotlight (or other accolade) would generate. For something this important, we want a large sample of parks in order to determine the most accurate levels. Because these levels are not determined yet, we cannot release the voting mechanism. Once these levels are determined, we will add another news post, so everyone can understand how their park will be judged.
Over time, this panel may change. We are still in the process of determining a system for replacing panelists that have decided to leave or have become inactive. This process will be announced along with the voting mechanism with the next 2 or 3 weeks. We hope that those who didn’t make the panel this time will reapply. As I said, several of you just barely missed!
It is our hope that this panel and voting process will provide a much more stable and fair voting system. We’re always looking for feedback, so once you’ve seen the voting process, let us know if you have any questions or comments. -

Looks like a pretty solid panel, i wouldnt have changed a thing with it
I have no problems with it, as long as they give Fairwood Creek an accolade when i submit it -

Yay, I'm looking forward to finding out how the new voting mechanism is going to work. I can't get into the topic though. It says I'm not a panelist.
Edit: N/m, Geewhzz hooked me up. -

to all those who weren't selected this time, i'm very sorry. you really need to realise how hard it was for us to select. we had around 8 people that easily made it, the rest kept us reading those questionnaires over and over and over, comparing details, comparing what games they could run, comparing the #1 question answers the most, etc. i think we spent about 2-3 hours.
and guess what, xin almost made it no kidding! -

I'd sign up to sub, but I'm not sure how active I'll be once college starts.
Anyway, no real surprises on that list. Hopefully this means more releases more quickly?

Same with me! In the last days I decided to get more active at NE and to play RCT a bit more but because of my exchange this august I didn't sign up.
I still don't know if I'll even have internet in the next year but I think most families in the USA who are host families for an exchange today have a computer so I should be able to be a sub.

If I wanted to substitute for someone and I didn't already fill out the questionnaire, do I still have to do it? I'm just asking, don't take that the wrong way. -

^ We may have new questions or something when we start the replacements topic. To be honest, we still haven't worked out how the replacements will work, so once that's done, we'll have a topic. Everyone will be eligible to sign up! -

^I was kind of wondering about stuff like that, actually. The way it's set up now, I think you have to have a password to get into the Backstage areas. So how would you regulate when a sub is able to vote, and when the sub isn't needed? And I assume the subs would be PM'ed when their services are needed? That would make the most sense, I guess.
Man, the Management has a lot of stuff to take into consideration. But once again, I applaude the direction that the site is taking. Hooray for democracy!
