I didn't see a point in mentioning the incident at SFKK.

I didn't see a point in mentioning the incident at SFKK.

It was pointless in regards to the incident in Atlanta. Seriously, two small paragraphs about the SFKK tower incident? That accident was Six Flags fault for not properly maintaining a ride. This new incident was the kid's own dumb fault. But I guess the press will jump on any chance to further smear a well known name.

I was there at the park yesterday. They did a pretty good job of clearing things and keeping everybody over there calm. Shame for his family and friends, although I can't understand why you'd do something like that.

I don't get the press and why they target parks with this scaremongering shit. People die from being stupid, this isn't news. All reporting on this did was lower the parks ticket sales. I just get so fed up with the media and the dumbasses who take something like this and say ZOMG COASTERS ARENT SAFE PARKS SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! Or HONEY LETS NOT GO TO THAT PARK IT KILLS PEOPLEZ! Fucking stupid, they shouldn't have to close a ride just because some cunt jumped a fence labeled RESTRICTED and got HIMSELF killed. On top of that, how much dumber do you have to be to put yourself anywhere near where the train would be moving? IT'S ON A FUCKING TRACK, you KNOW where the train is going to be, for fuck sakes...

Put another darwin on the wall, we have a new winner.

It must have been a damn good hat for him to go into a restricted area. What I'd like to know though, is how he got decapitated. I know it's an inverted coaster but how exactly did it happen? Did he get his head kicked off or something? Kinda sucks that nobody was filming it, because now that's going to bug me. And for all of you who say I'm cruel and inconsiderate: the kid brought it upon himself. I think I have every right to laugh at him and watch his death video (assuming there is one) over and over again.

And in regards to the media making a big deal of things that aren't news, I quote Carlos Mencia: "I know pigs are being treated inhumanely. You know how I know? I eat bacon."

I realize this kid had it coming but to want to watch someone die is just fucking sick.

I'm fascinated by many things, death and fire being two of them. I can't help it. It's just the way I am.

I know a kid who was waiting in line for the ride when it happened. He didn't see happen though, which makes sense since you can't actually see the ride from most places in line. From what I understand though, he was decapitated by someone's feet. I don't know how true this is because it seems like it would injure the person who did it. Another story also says that the kids were trying to take a shortcut back into the park after eating lunch in the parking lot. I don't if this or the hat story is true, though.

    From Screamscape:

In the end he was struck by the coaster itself (not a rider) which apparently sent him flying up and into one of the ride’s support posts where he was decapitated by the impact. Batman was closed for the rest of the day and will remain closed today, but the park expects to reopen the coaster by Monday.

That must have been some serious impact!

^^ It wasn't someone's feet. From initial reports, it seems that it was the lower crossbar of the trains, which spans the seating across each row. It's found on older B&Ms, such as SFOG's Batman (97), but not newer versions. I've heard a report that this sent him into a support, which is where it happened. I've heard 3 reports about why he was in there: 1. he was looking for a faster way into the park, 2. he was in there to retrieve a hat (even though he had ridden it much earlier in the day), 3. he was grabbing at people's legs (makes the least sense to me).
Of those, I could see 2 being the most obvious reason, although 1 is a valid point considering the entrance gate is quite a hike away from that area. Still, not the brightest of decisions. I refrain from calling him an idiot as I don't know what his motivations were, but it seems to be severely lacking in common sense.

Edit, see above post as well.

^3 makes the most sense to me.
In the other two scenarios he would've most likely waited for the train to pass before passing under the track, but if he was trying to grab someone's feet it makes sense he was under the track right when the train arrived.

Very unlucky occurrence for the park and even more so for him and his family.
  • JJ%s's Photo
Yeah I'd rather call him an idiot than to call him unlucky...
  • Comet%s's Photo
It's definitely unlucky for the park and his family and all the people around him who saw it actually happen or the remains, and I'd rather not call someone who just died an idiot when the story isn't even clear yet.
