Now that we have that taken care of, lets move on.

Although not much of an update, I can say that the speedway is moving along nicely.

Below is a portion of the pit lane and garage area. Pit lane will accomidate 43 stalls and the there is enough garages for all three NASCAR Series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Truck)

I think maybe you should have a third aisle in the middle of the seating, but otherwise it looks great, James!

    Ha ha, thats awesome man.

The scaling of the stands seems a little off to me, but that might be because you may use a higher resolution than I'm use to.
Beautifully realistic work as always, though.

Steve – Although I agree that there should be a third row of steps for realism, I decide to make this exception due to the seats and stare both being full tile objects. If I added the third row, visually it would look off having that many stairs vs seats. Thanks though

    JDP – Thanks

Rhynos – Are you saying the stands look to be too small for a track this size? If so, no worries, these are seats reserved for the team’s sponsors behind each pit stall. There are also corporate suites just behind the seats.

The main grandstand(s) are still under construction along the outside portions of the track. I should have all of them finished shortly and can move on to the trackside hotel in Turn 1. Most of the infield work is complete. The overall map is around 33% complete and should be finished by mid May (unless I have another great weekend for building like I had this weekend). The crappy weather is delaying my camping season. Go figure!

I kinda dislike the red awnings on the right of the stands, and also the grey coloring of the roofs and some walls since they seem to blend with the asphalt. But everything else looks amazing!

    Update:

I wonder what this could be?

ive always enjoyed your work, and that shot is not exception. keep it up man.

Wow, very nice supports. I really like the black and the white everywhere.

Awesome. I loved the original, so this one should be amazing.
  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo
Woah! NICE. Love the elevation changes!
  • RCTNW%s's Photo
    Thanks everyone.

TC – The elevation change I think will work really well from the Peeps perspective (yes there will be peeps!). The actual ticket booths are on the lower level and the actual gates will be on the upper level. The monorails are headed for a planned coaster lift hill which should give a great first impression looking up from the lower level.

Now that the summer is starting to come to an end, it’s nice to find some time to work on the project once again. I will say this though; trying to keep this peep friendly is not an easy thing. I must have spent a good two hours just trying to get the invisible entrance working and the peeps being able to get into the park. Between bouncing between the SE and saved game, I think I ended up for 8 versions before I was finally happy with it.

As for the park itself, CP6 and I are planning 4 major areas of the park. One for each of the three national touring series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Truck) along with a section dedicated to Past Champions. Details of the coaster lineup are still being discussed however we are getting closer to actual construction.

    Again thanks for the support

Please use a different path type, this one really ruins the atmosphere. It looks too industrial.

Sounds really cool. Glad you got the peeps in mind. :)

hmmmmm. Although we will be using different paths inside the park, the pathing for the entrance area shown may not change. I for one like the checkered look it has, and in a way ties into the racing theme. Thanks though

    It's peepable?!?!
    I LOVE IT!!!!!

this is now going to be my favorite park. :). ever.

    [Edit]

Hold on, there's one thing I dont like, and its the yellow fences on the stairs. Maybe use a different color? Or the darker yellow? (unless that's what you had used.) Idk, I just dont like the color. It's no longer perfect. :p

where was MUS planed to be? like next to MMW
    are where MNE is?

    Good question.

    Marriot's Nascar Experience 2

it's not actually going to be called that, right?

I certainly hope so. Or, better yet, Marriott's NASCAR Experience II. It just sounds so cool.

NASCAR? Again? :( :( :( Please choose something else.

I think you should combine parking lots so that they are next to eachother. Some switching around of the four new maps might be in order.

    A) NASCAR = awesome.
    B) No, in real life there are different parking lots for differetn areas.

    .... my phase 4 plans....

inversed – No worries. I’m sure MUS will resurface down the road

    Thanks

    James

    A) **** yeah *********!! Does that mean you are going to rename the project Marriott's Quadrupruple X? As one of the top 5,000 people in the WORLD who like the world "Quadruple" the most, I would certainly appreciate it!!
    B) **** yeah!! Again!!
    C) Your welcome.
    D) Nice name (my third favorite J-name).

    Phase 4?
are you ever going to do anything different?

When he finishes Phase IV, maybe, or maybe he will be utterly exhausted and retire. I don't know, however, Mr. Northwest is pretty hardcore.

Trust me, Phase 4 will be brilliant, if James is still doing what he had planned for it.

What had he planned? Tell me, please. And thank you. In advance.

Do something different? Let me describe what I see James' design process as:

"Hmm... I want to build a bridge. Yeah! Hmmm... Let's make it a Marriott bridge!"
"Stadium... Stadium... Got it! Marriott Stadium!"

It seems to me like he's doing completely different things with every map, and the Marriott moniker is an afterthought to keep continuity. The only thing I find strange about it is that because it's all technically one project, people ignore the fact that he already completed 7 fucking megaparks.

    A) LOL at James' thought process. It's true.
    B) "7 fucking megaparks." As much as I ****ing dislike you, that, my friend, is now going into my signature. Just those three words.

Thanks guys although technically, I've only completed 5.5 maps as the Convention Center and the bridge were already finished. I was just able to fit them into the project. That said, MA described it perfectly.

Just to add, TF and the Convention Center do not carry the Marriott tag as it didn't make sence, However using the parent park branding has been done to a race track though coughdisneycough so I think it's ok to follow that lead. That said, I can promise that phase four will not carry the Marriott branding.

    A) Wo, go easy on yourself. You made that Convention Center, right? And the Bridge? If not, never mind. Just because they were conceptualized and built pre-MPTX doesn't mean you didn't make them.
    B) What's TF?
    C) So Phase IV isn't Marriott? It's a different project?

    Update:

I wonder what this could be?

    A 10/10 awesome screenshot, perhaps?

    ANYWAYS, some general commenteering:
    A) Is Phase IV going to be MUS, or something else, and, if something else, will it be a park or no? If you don't want to answer/haven't decided, then that's cool.
    B) How many hotels are in the project altogether?
    C) AWESOME.

^What the fuck do you think this is, your own personal press conference? Do you think anyone cares about replies to their comments from four months ago? Your excessive quoting wasnt nearly as aggravating in your personal shitpile topics as it is here. Its one thing if its your own parks topic where your replying to peoples posts, but this is just ridiculous.

RCTNW, the left side of your screen looks a bit too much like some other things youve done before. But I love the NASCAR sign with the fountain and monorail going under it. Brilliantly designed.

Was that really necessary? Sure, he's replying to comments from months ago, okay, cut it out Kevin. But really, you people wonder why Kevin is so annoying? It's because people like you instigate and blow things out of proportion. And I have a feeling its going to continue so let's just stick to RCTNW's park, which by the way, looks absolutely wonderful. Great work James.

^ and on that note :)

Kevin – To answer your two questions – 1) no MUS is not part of Phase IV (and no, I won’t say what it is). 2) Currently, the project consists of 3 hotels with a fourth one planned however not complete.

Cam – Although I can see where you are seeing that (I saw it too as I was building), I think for the sake of continuity of the project, It works. They all have there own unique aspect to it even though they are similar. Glad you liked the sign/monorail/fountain interaction. Was really happy with the end result.

Steve – Thanks for both of your statements.

    James
