General Chat / Over Ear Headphones

My $30 Walmart headphones only work in one ear now and I need a replacement pretty quickly so I can work on stuff for Primm (we're trying to finish an album before February ends). Suggestions for a $150 budget?

Shure e2. $100. I know you said over-ear, but these are in-ear, so they already have a cancelling effect. Otherwise, I think your only other choice is from Bose.

I have some Phillips noise cancelers but there bass is a bit flabby when you crank em'. Cost me $65... But you can definitely do better with $150...

If these give out on me I'll get Bose QC2s (around the ear) because they're supposed to rule the shit from everything I've read, heard, etc.

Bah, I don't know why you spend so much money on earphones. I've had these babies for nearly 2 years and they have never failed me, and sound bloody brilliant too (great bass)

Got them from Argos for £15 back in the day. But then again, I don't think they have Argos's in the US

I don't want earbuds--they become uncomfortable after about an hour of use and they're just a nuisance to have sitting around my desk. Also I'm producing music... I guess I should have gone to musiciansfriend from the get go.

Bose seem like a good option but they're so expensive! I'm thinking something along the lines of one of these:

    Sennheiser HD280

    Audio-Technica ATH-M50

    Sennheiser HD 555

i do have some sennheiser earbuds, the sound from them was much, much better than from the sonies i had before.

Not into audio equipment enough to really give you a good answer though.

I would like to buy earbuds specifically for small ears myself >_<.

Marshy.. how do you do it? These things last a couple months at most...

I don't actually know to be honest, all earphones I've had before have either broken, had the wire snapped or just lost the sound quality. These ones (Sonys) have somehow withstood that. Thay have rubber coating on the wire which means they are tough and protect itself from several attacks by my cat, and the earphones themselves have no lost any sound quality whatsoever. But then again, I always place my earphones back in the supplied 'wind-up' case after every time I use them to keep them safe..

The worst earphones I have ever used are Ipod earphones, I must have been through about 4 pairs before abandoning them altogether.
For listening to music through my sound system I bought a pair of these:

    thanks for the help, guys!

i ended up getting the sennheiser hd pros. my only complaint is they squeeze my big head more than my last ones. awesome otherwise. really clear and loud and there's zero distortion. plus i saved $100 and got a 2 yr warranty free.

also, if anyone is in the market for new headphones i'd recommend looking at musician's friend for deals and don't get any headphones with more than 4N contact pressure.

Nice call. Boss makes great speakers, but their headphones are actually not that great compared to what you can get. Sennheisers are good though. :)
