The economy is a big deal, yes. I care about it, yes. I want it fixed, of course. But life is so much bigger than the economy. If the world economy falls apart it's not the end of the world, but hey, maybe it's even necessary for us to wake up.

it's not the end of the world if you either a.) don't invest, b.) have diversified holdings (ie. not just stocks), or c.) have had a portfolio long enough to make enough dividends to take the edge off the blow.
