Round 3 - Match-Up #6: J K vs. Ride6
#2 J K with his entry:
Dragon Mountain
#3 Ride6 with his entry:
The World of Tomorrow
After 4 votes by the judges, the winner, by a score of 4 to 0, is... Ride6
Ride6 moves on and will need to step up his game to beat CP6 for a trip to the big dance. -

Im still shaking my head. The judges totally fucked up here. This being 4-0 should be a joke, but it's not... -

3 way?
Because wow... just wow...
No disrespect to ride6-- it was a nice entry, but JK should've had this. -

Sorry to say, but I somehow get the feeling these judges do not know what they are doing.
Kumba, please make sure the next contest do not end like this.
Congrats J K on making a great entry. When you showed a screen I already loved it, but the final result is a lot better than what you showed.
The other entry looks a lot like a park from H2H, I think you also made that one ride6. Not sure why you were going for the same idea again. It didn't work out there and doesn't for me here, even though there are some nice ideas in it. -

I have not seen this in game yet and the 4-0 vote may not be indicative to the final results. Remember, the decision is made once we get to 4 votes. That left three of us who have not cast our vote yet. It comes down to how soon do you want the results. If we wait for all 7 judges to cast a vote, it may be a day or two before everyone votes and the results posted In most cases, we have 4 or 5 votes cast within a few hours of it being posted. All that said, don't put too much weight on the 4-0 vote as it may not be an accurate representation of the judges. Remember, whoever gets 4 votes first, wins. Since there are only 7 votes possible, only one can have 4 votes.
I will look at it tonight as they both look fantastic.

Props to Ride6 for doing a Futurama theme. JK's entry looks amazing too.
I'll download and post comments soon. -

So it seems all the judges think ride6 had the best and everyone here, not neccisarily having viewed it, thinks it was J K. I don't think the judges performed an organized fuck-up, so there must be something pretty amazing that has to be seen in game. Or it proves the theory that tall things always win. -

Cant. No issue of a DQ here, Ride6 won.
HOWEVER... if Ride6 really wants to concede defeat (despite the fact he won fairly by as many votes as he could...) J K could move on in his place. I don't think Ride6 will or should do that.
Oh and Xcoaster when they see that this gets to take yet another twist and more jaws will drop... -

I like ride6's the more I look at it. Both are really amazing entries. Jonny, that looks incredible, one of the best things i've seen. -

Alright Ride6! I really love Futurama, so I can totally relate to your entry in every way! I guess I'm one of the few who thinks that Ride6 deserved the win here. The coaster was great, although not as great as JK, but the archy was pulled off very well, in reference to the show. It's not overly detailed, and it gives off a somewhat animated feel. Simply perfect!
JK's was great as well. I remember you telling me on AIM that I would have to wait to see the finished product, and it was definitely worth the wait! I love dragons, especially Eastern ones. And the coaster was very nice. Although Ride6 beat you, I think you should've gotten at least a couple of votes. -

It's all a matter of opinion people..
Xin exactly proves that point.
I thought it was VERY close, and first wanted to vote for JK.. When I was going back on forth between the two entries I noticed ride6's held my attention much longer, and I kept finding new interesting and well executed details/ideas.. JK's didn't do that. I watched the coaster run for a while and after I checked what was there, I wanted to change views to find out if there was more on other views. There was nothing there, just an unthemed wall/backside of buildings.. That really was the difference for me, as ride6's just did that, on every view there's something new to explore.. I would say they are both equal in all areas, whereas JK's coaster is better, but ride6's overall theme, quantity, concept and execution..
So again, very close, with ride6's just slightly better..
And please people, first take a look in-game before you post here.. There's no way you could make a fair judgement in 1 or 6 minutes!

Futurama! That was amazing! It has to be my favorite entry so far.
Ride6, that was an amazing idea. It's been tried before in some good LL park (can't remember, but it was a spotlight and a lot of it was water) but you totally conquered this theme.
Just needed a brain... You could have stuck it in Bender's apartment building.Edited by RaPiPo, 15 January 2008 - 08:10 PM.

Lol!
Just dropping in after this one got up, and seem to have missed a lot of commotion......
Only I really donĀ“t understand what this is all about....
Due to the judging system (closing the voting when one park does have the majority of votes), there have been many many more parks that were very close, but still just one could have the win of course. Also very close parks with 4-0 (in the second round)HOWEVER... if Ride6 really wants to concede defeat (despite the fact he won fairly by as many votes as he could...) J K could move on in his place. I don't think Ride6 will or should do that.
^ Don't understand this one at all either....Is this a new rule or so?
Otherwise....why was not this conceding defeat "offered" to e.g. Levis in round 2 against 5 Dave (4-3 that match, and all members shouting that 5Dave should have won), or to CP6 against MA (4-0 that one, and everyone shouting that MA should have won).
Or in any case offered to the loser of a round if in the next round the winner knew it would be a forfeit, or near-forfeit (like with JiMeMo?)
What's the difference ?

WOW! Now that I've seen these in game I can see how the first 4 judges picked what they did. As all of them have state, this was one of the toughtest rounds to judge so far and we are splitting hairs with this one. Both bring strengths to the table that the other was ever so lightly slacking. SF brought up some great points (along with others) however the final deciding factor for me was coaster design and JK's had the edge thus getting my vote. I also wonder if I followed Futurama, I might pick up on the concept/detail work a bit more thus pulling it from JK's entry. I don't know.
JK - Great entry and I wish these two entries didn't have to face each other as I'm sure it could have won against any other entry this round.
Ride6 - Congrats on the win. Even though I would have voted for JK, it was just by the smallest of margins. Good luck in the next round
