General Chat / Are Liverpool out of the title race?

I think so, their form isn't good enough to compete with the likes of Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea and in some ways even Man City.

They've got Luton on the FA Cup this afternoon, which should be a good game.

    Thoughts>

I completely agree. I think they're 12 or 13 points off Arsenal, which is no way going to win them the tittle. Especially with the way Arsenal are playing at the moment, i honestly can't see anyone else winning it.

Like you said, even City are creeping up on them, and i wouldn't be at all surprised to see them break into the top 4 at Liverpool's expense. I mean, even Everton are close.

However, i do think that if Liverpool fail to finish on the top 4, Benitez will go. These American owners wont hang about, they'll put a manager in there who'll guarentee silverwear. At this rate, Liverpool wont be winning any this season. Certainly not the champions league. That's why i thought they should have played a stronger team against Luton. At least if Rafa wins the FA Cup he might have a chance of keeping his job. Luton deserved to win that game.

Yes, they're out. This is what happens when you don't let your squad build any sort of chemistry. I think Man City will take the last Champions League spot, and Liverpool and their new manager will be playing obscure Scandinavian teams in the UEFA Cup next year.

    Arsenal is falling apart... :(

Robin van Persie has gotta come back quick...

You guys find soccer teams to be plural. I'm quite sure that you should say: liverpool is out of the title race.

I haven't been following the english league so i don't have much of an opinion on it. I do know liverpool has a shitload of good players, especially when you look at their bench. I think a lot of teams need to cut their selections down a little bit, i doubt it's very good for team spirit if you have one great player after another that really isn't going to get to the starting line-up.

Tottenham look to be replacing Robinson in goal, which can only be a good thing. Juande Ramos would likely be very successful in the Premier League with the right players, but I'm pretty sure Berba will be gone in the summer since Spurs don't look to be headed to the UEFA Cup, nonetheless Champions League. COYS!

Well Keegan's return to Newcastle sure turned out to be a drag. Even with him back, at the moment its still just the same players playing the same ole' lousy football...
  • Lloyd%s's Photo
Exactly. I don't know what people expect him to do, turn it around instantly?

The team aren't good enough, end of.

COME OOOOOOOOON YOU SPURRRRRRRRS! You can say all you like about it being the Carling Cup but I don't think the unbeaten streak was something Arsenal would have liked to give up.

^ Mickey Mouse cup to them, practically the Youth Cup.

Anyway, Spurs still had a job to do, and i wasn't expecting it to be 5-1.
  • spiderman%s's Photo
Arsene Wenger doesnt care about the carling cup. While I would not have cared much if we lost, 5-1 was just too much. I would have been fine with 2-1, 2-0, even 3-1. But Fabianski had a plain old terrible day, and our only starters who started were Gallas and Hleb. It was Tottenham's full strength squad against our backups.

But I must give them credit, they definitely dominated the game, so props to them.

I don't Arsene Wenger was planning on risking any more of our starters, thats how we lost van Persie...

Chelsea Spurs final then...should be a good one..
  • gir%s's Photo
For Arsenal I see it as a missed opportunity to seriously embarrass their cross-town rivals even further. If Spurs had lost, Berba would have been gone for sure, fans would be pissed even more, etc. It may be a relatively small loss for Arsenal, but they gave Spurs a HUGE moral victory. Thanks for that.

Heard what Adebayor said to Bendtner to cause their little tiff? "They've brought me on because your shit"

    Spurs have signed Woodgate... :supersecretonceinalifetime:
  • Lloyd%s's Photo
Oh christ, another bake, good old spurs! I pity them.

What makes me laugh though, is that Woodgate is meant to be replacing King because he's crippled now, injured every game.

I can't help but think they haven't solved the problem, Woodgate is injured more then King!

Being a Leeds lad, and to see Wise go to Newcastle after all his hard work, makes me laugh. 8@

Another solid performance by Arsenal. I was only able to watch the first 30 minutes, even though no goals were scored Arsenal held possession by over 60% in those minutes and overall played well. The loss of Rosiscky showed because Diaby does not have the first touch or ball conrol skills to start on Arsenal, but overall it was a good game.

Yeh it was, a scorcher of a goal by Flamini.
