i don't see what the big deal is about pink floyd

It's been said that "Music is the between the notes". Pink Floyd is the epitome of that (in rock music anyway).

Well that and David Gilmour is probably my favorite guitarist ever... His playing blows my mind without being at all advanced...

Since I'm a child of the 80's I hate anything by Bob Dylan or Janis Joplin.
Back in those days they played this crap ALL THE TIME, God it's a good thing everyone was sauced up on LSD when these two were making albums.

My next peeve is the elctro-disco stuff from the 80's.
Cut it up and flush it.

Last peeve, MOST of the tunes from the 90's.
No music talent, no vocal ability, and most of them looked like they hadn't seen a shower & soap in years.

eh, screaming in death metal is bullshit, but I wouldn't say I "hate" it... and only because a lot of death metal does it constantly with no respect for the idea of "tension and release". It's just like mainstream rap: alpha-male music designed to intimidate or reach some magical testosterone ego-trip peak. There is some good death metal, but their cases are usually made with how ridiculous their drumming or shredding is. Some for their lyrics, but very few.

Anything else I hate is purely on the lack of talent and effort. Anything I come across that clearly has talent and mastery, I cannot hate. Really, there's a lot more unknown bands that deserve hatred over known bands. For every sucky band that makes it, there are atleast 100 that sucked that much more...

And lyrics are up to the person. Yes, bling, drugs, hoes, etc. is really played out and I don't get off listening to some jerk brag about how big his name is.

And personally, I only like rap if it DOES have intelligent lyrics, but that's still interpretation. If the MC is just fodder for the BEAT,then PLEASE PEOPLE, show respect for the DJ and NOT the MC. FUCK the MC if he doesn't branch out to subject matter with more depth or experiment with his style, it's the DJ that's the fucking artist in that case. And really, the only time the MC is a true "artist" is if he's flowin on the spot. If it's pre-rendered AND shallow... he aint SHIT.

And honestly, I'll tell you right now, I'm not someone who is "out with old, in with new", who thinks everything made after 1980 is shite, who thinks naively that fame automatically destroys music, or who thinks those not in the spotlight must have no talent...

I LISTEN to music. It's my fucking obsession my passion... to create and be inspired by music. CREATIVITY and BEAUTY and DEPTH and MASTERY are what drive my tasts. They are my 4 pillars.

The reason inferno doesn't like those songs he named isn't because they have no talent, or weren't creative, weren't beautiful or deep... he hates them because he *der* DOESN'T IDENTIFY WITH THE SOUND. If he says it IS because they talent-less, then he's letting either other people or shallow ideals decide his tastes for him. End of story.

No matter how hard we try, we ALL have SOME pre-conceived notions when it comes to music. Sometimes, it becomes too much a matter of pride, and not enough just plain enjoyment. Some songs in our lives, we can't even explain why we like them, we just do.

I guess then I'll throw out what I won't listen to unless you badger me:

Most cheesy synth pop from the 80s. Audition bands (backstreet boys, nsync, etc). Speedcore. New-age country music with insulting preachy-ness. Speed Garage. Songs that bastardize good classics with a talent-less remix of it. Porno music...

Really, I can't name any songs that I really "hate", but these categories I will avoid until someone says something.

ALSO: classical/jazz/progressive/blues/someIDM music is really the most inspiring music I ever get to hear.

PS - i have no clue what I actually wanted to accomplish with this post, I'm just thinking with a keyboard at this point...
