Absolutely incredible performance in Mansfield last night. We got some great stuff like Kid A (!), Jigsaw, Exit Music, Wolf At the Door, and Disappear Completely. I was really banking on some Let Down after I realized they were playing some rarities, but alas. Still, probably the best show I will ever see in my life. According to AtEase they sound checked Talk Show Host (damnit), Last Flowers (damnit), and three new unknown songs. That would have been gold if they made it into the set. :(

    01. Reckoner
    02. Optimistic
    03. There There
    04. 15 Step
    05. Kid A
    06. Nude
    07. All I Need
    08. The Gloaming
    09. The National Anthem
    10. Videotape
    11. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
    12. The Bends
    13. Faust Arp
    14. Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi
    15. Everything In Its Right Place
    16. Exit Music
    17. Bodysnatchers

    Encore 1
    18. House of Cards
    19. I Might Be Wrong
    20. Paranoid Android
    21. A Wolf At The Door
    22. How To Disappear Completely

    Encore 2:
    23. Cymbal Rush
    24. Karma Police
    25. Idioteque

Tied for my best song would be (surprisingly) Jigsaw and Everything In Its Right Place.
    Where's Jellybones at?

    Cymbal Rush!? What!?

Interesting that both that gig and Lolla ended with Idioteque (never thought of it as a closer myself). I'm mainly jealous of How To Disappear Completely. And I would've taken "I Might Be Wrong" over "Dollars and Cents" any day. Oh well.

It was certainly the greatest show of my life. Not sure if it's the one where I had the most fun, biggest spiritual experience, etc though. That's the interesting thing about it. I think I ruined my experience some by spending the last couple years endlessly drooling over their performances anyway. Still loved Thom's comments during the encore; "You're so quiet, it's hard to tell if there's anybody out there..." *cheers* "Or if this is just a dream..." *cheers mixed with cheezy ass 'dreams come true' screams* "Guess this is really happening then" *cheers*.

It was touching. Breaking the "forth wall" at a festival is generally nearly impossible, but right there... He did it with flying colors.

i was there too steve, great show...did you have good seats? i was in 11, and i wasn't expecting the seats to be anything special, but fuck, i could see everything pretty well and just to be there was among the best experiences i've ever had.

im still shocked they did exit music.

I was in section 1. Stayed up all night waiting for tickets to come out and fought all that morning against the crashing server of WASTE; but with avail, I got some tickets. Shelled out a pretty penny for them, too. Totally the best money I have ever spent though.

Here's one of the pictures I took. Should give you a good idea of my view:

I was hoping for SLIGHTLY better seats, but they were awesome nonetheless.

And I know, Exit Music was unexpected. So was Kid A. Me and my friend (who also went with me) were hoping for Kid A, Talk Show Host, and Let Down. We got Kid A, but were one show before TSH. Oh well. Still, I think Mansfield got one of, if not the best setlist during this tour.

ride6: Cymbal Rush was probably the only low point in the show for me (granted, when I say low, it was still rather high). It was just Thom solo on piano. However, I Might Be Wrong, was one of the best songs of the night.

i'm seriously regretting not going to this show. i wish i could have scraped up the money for it.
  • postit%s's Photo
Fuck. Why did I click on this topic. I wanted to keep setlists a surprise. Well I only saw Cymbal Rush and Idioteque. One a big surprise, the other, not so much.

    thats great steve.

oh and btw, as i was browsing through this topic i came across this:

The Bends is a terrible album with no good songs.

    Not a single one.

    Best track is Street Spirit.
Cuz it's bland instead of shit.

    umm...

    Hi Steve.
    What row were you in?

Based on your pictures. It looks like you were nearly next to me.

Also, I saw Radiohead twice on this tour. Montreal and Mansfield. Montreal was great because it had Bangers & Mash, and was located at a beautiful venue (at a park on an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River with a stunning view of downtown Montreal). But the Mansfield show was better. I didn't think it could POSSIBLY get better after How to Disappear Completely...but then Thom played that solo rendition of Cymbal Rush. Good shit, good shit. Having now seen Radiohead 4 times on 3 different tours, I can safely say that the Mansfield show was the best out of all of them.

Also did any of you guys see Wilco and Andrew Bird at Tanglewood the night before that? Pretty much the best two day run ever. Not much else could get me to return to Massachusetts at this point but that was totally worth it.

I was in... row W, I think. Yeah. I was actually keeping an eye out for you in the back of my mind, but then I realized I had no idea what you looked like.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
    Row W?

In that case you were a couple seats over from me. I was in the same row, seats 1 and 2.

One of my friends, who had shaggy curly blond hair, was sitting in the seat on the very edge of the row. I was in the second seat, I had medium-length dark hair and glasses.

did you guys notice when thom messed up on faust arp? it was funny because listening to it again and watching it, it was such a glaring mistake, but somehow when i was there i was so much in the zone that i didnt notice it
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
Yes. That was odd. Sounded like he was a bit out of tune though.

The other show I saw, in Montreal, there was this huge fireworks display at La Ronde going on at the same time as the show. It was just an added bonus during most of the show, but during Faust Arp, it was uh. Shall we say. Distracting. So much so that it totally threw Thom and Jonny off and Thom burst out laughing. And then afterwards said, "We paid all this money for fireworks, least they could do is shoot them off at the fucking end!" What a comedian.

Or maybe he just can't ever get Faust Arp right.

HAHAHAHAHA HOLY GOD I WAS RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.

I was in like seat 5. My friend had seat 3 (long dark hair, had on a white collar shirt), my girlfriend had seat 4.
Her and I were dancing most of the time so you may have saw me/us; I don't know how much you were paying attention to the people around you. But I definitely said something to you and I didn't even realize it was you. Probably like "excuse me, I need to get to my seat" or some bullshit. That is a riot, dude.

And apparently, Thom never gets Faust Arp right anymore.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
    Well then.
    Small world I guess!

And no, I wasn't paying any attention to the people around me. Way, way too absorbed in the show. Although I do recall being pleased that the people next to me weren't irritating, like the people next to me at the Wilco show the night before were. So, thanks for being a good concert neighbor.
  • postit%s's Photo
    That's a riot, guys. haha

After selling my tickets at the venue (and almost going) to what appears to be the most epic concert ever (HB2) I feel like I want to hang myself. I can only pray for something like that in San Diego on Wednesday. :((((

Haha. Yeah, but there was this one guy next to me who kept getting out of our row to go talk on the phone. Maybe you remember that?
I'm just thinking "God, you're leaving during Kid A? Idiot."

That is pretty funny though. I missed my one chance to meet the infamous Jellybones. :[

I nearly sold my tickets to the Massachusetts show, actually. But I figured I was going to be sort of in the area for the Wilco show the night before, so I stuck with it. And plus, I had a feeling that I'd live to regret it if I did sell those tickets. And I would have. I had previously been 0-for-3 for my 2nd favorite song of theirs, How To Disappear Completely. So I'm really glad I got to see that. There were quite a few others that I hadn't heard in my previous Radiohead experiences as well.

Did that happen? I don't remember to be honest. Again, way too enthralled with the show to know what was going on around me.

I saw them the 4th. They were great, but I had lawn seats, so I couldn't see well. Still fun though.
