Michigan lost to Appalachian State. After that you could have gone on to win the National Title and everybody including the opposition would still be laughing.

You've said this almost word for word several times. The fact is we've had problems: not all of them are fixed, but we've obviously improved. However I think everyone is overlooking who actually deserves credit here: Appalachian State. With the way they played they would've drove pretty much any team in the Big 10 into the dirt (with the exception of Ohio State). If they'd played ND it would've been a fucking comedy. It still was...

Still we're not stuck on it... Why the hell are you? I'm guessing it's the classic "Michigan is eternally overrated, etc. etc." spew. I mean even though I don't particularly like certain teams I certainly respect them. You might not respect USC after the Stanford loss, but I still do. I, like most Michigan fans, have a severe distaste for Ohio State; however it certainly doesn't change that they've probably played the best of any team in the country up until this point and I'd be the first to acknowledge it.

I guess I should probably quit posting here after every game because the reality is that I don't track the whole NCAA every week: only a few of the big names, the big 10 and of course Michigan...

If I don't see a Big XII (actually just OU I guess) v. SEC match-up in the national championship game I'll be a little disappointed, but I'm still rooting for BC just for ACC pride.

Believe it or not, I know Michigan is a good team. I know they started off bad, were not expecting a fight from Appalachian State, were not tuned because it was the first game, and still had the chance to pull it out at the end. But with how it happened (blocked field goal), who it happened to (#5, and Michigan to boot), and when it happened (first week).... it was pretty damn memorable and pretty damn funny. After all, my parents are Ohio State grads, so me enjoying Michigan suffering runs in the blood. I know they have turned things around. I know they have fixed a lot of their problems, and they will give everyone left on their schedule a run for their money. But it is still funny. They could win the Big 10/11 (a distinct possibility), win the Rose Bowl, and people would still laugh about the Appalachian State game. Because people like to see teams like Michigan suffer. People like to see teams like USC suffer. People like to see teams like OU suffer. Do you think the Boise State game is going to fade too quickly? If you are not an OU fan, that game is funny as hell. Part of college football is delighting in other teams misery, even if you know the other team is head and shoulders better than yours. That is why I am sure even Notre Dame fans laughed when Stanford beat USC... even if USC was going to destroy them in a few weeks. So when you think of the start of the season for Michigan, just think of all the joy you have brought the college football world.

When the USC/Stanford game was over and the score was posted at the Rose Bowl, where UCLA was playing Notre Dame, fans from both colleges let out an absurdly huge cheer and started celebrating. That was the most exciting part of their game, which ended up sucking ass and was memorable only because Notre Dame actually... ya know... won.

That's what happens when fans of your two biggest rivals found out you got beaten by trees. :(

oh man that Rutgers game was AMAZING!!! I was in the first row and we were going nuts. It was easily the best sports game I was ever at. The atmosphere was like nothing I've ever seen, all 44,000+ people were going crazy the whole game. And then there was the rushing of the field. Theres like a waist high fence in front of the first row and I was crushed against it as soon as they won. I litteraly could not move. I finaly got over it but it was already like 5 minutes after everyone else made it on but I did rush the field. Heres some pics I got with my phone:
    This was on the field

then I went back up into the stands and took this

well, that would be a blowout :bunny: by any SEC team :mantis:

I know....AND, looking at their schedule, they just might finish out unbeaten...that sucks.

Predictions for tomorrow....you know I won't pick OSU over Penn State or vice versa because thats just too critical....hope we win...and winning big would be nice...

Arizona St over Cal...but really close
West Va and Rutgers...close, I'm not picking that one
Oregon over USC...I think Oregon is real deal
    South Fla all over UConn
Michigan will slaughter Minnesota and get a false sense of greatness

and the rest, I really don't care

Good call, Pyro, on USF and USC. I've come to grips with the fact that the Trojans just aren't as good this year as in past years. Then again, how many teams can say they went to five BCS games in a row? That's hard. And the Pac10 is VERY tough this year.

Oregon is definitely the real deal. They're one fumble away from being ranked #1 or #2, and they still could go to the BCS Championship, given this crazy season.

USC... inconsistency. Offense is sluggish. Too many turnovers. Too many penalties. That'll kill you. Imagine what the end of the game would have been like if we had gotten a field goal instead of failing on the early game fourth down, and if Joe McKnight's TD had counted. Oh well. We can still finish strong, but even the Rose Bowl is looking tricky now. :(

Great football weekend...NC State wins and UNC loses. Life is good.

Wooooooooo NC State knocks off the U in the Orange Bowl!! Really an unfortunate game for Miami's kicker though. But...three wins in a row and next week the crowd is gonna be rockin against UNC. The Tom O'Brien era is lookin good so far.

Aaahhh, 20 straight conference wins for OSU. Life is good at the top, or as Mel Brooks once said, "It's good to be the king ;) "

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but Ohio State is looking better and better each week. They are definitely the #1 team in the nation. I hope BC loses tho.

Oregon finally showed that Arizona State is just effing overrated. Completely dominated the Sun Devils, as I figured. I'm rooting for them to reach the BCS Title Game, because that way, USC has a chance at the Rose Bowl (if they play better down the stretch and win out).

LSU... looking beatable again. Could have lost, but pulled it out again. LSU and OU are Oregon's toughest tests, but right now, I'd rank the Ducks ahead of the Tigers and Sooners (mostly because the Sooners haven't had as tough of a schedule).

Kansas is still undefeated, and that boggles my mind. Then I look at their schedule and see that they still haven't played anyone. The Big 12 still sucks. And the only elite team, IMO, is Oklahoma. Mizzou and Kansas are very good teams, and Texas is a good team. That's it. Kansas hasn't really played anyone all year, and I'm rooting for them to lose next week against Missouri.

    Hahah... UCLA sucks.

Notre Dame lost again. Losing to Navy, which people figured would be the first game they'd win this season (UCLA: if it ends up that you have ND's only win, then ROFLMAO even more). Although losing to Navy, which they had beaten 43 years in a row, is hilarious. Oh Notre Dame... you just plain suck.

But for once, the "it could have been worse" doesn't drag down the Fighting Irish--the worse goes to the Cornhuskers of Nebraska this season. 76 points???? SEVENTY SIX POINTS??? Geez, your team obviously sucks. I wouldn't expect a school like Nebraska to be getting beatdowns like that. Usually, it's something like OU delivering them (like when they scored like 80 a few seasons ago).

    EDIT:

WOOOO!!! Boston College: OUT! They should have lost last week. This week showed they are definitely no #2 team in the nation. Lets revise the rankings:

    1. Ohio State
    2. Oregon
    3. Oklahoma
    4. LSU
    5. West Virginia
    6. Kansas
    7. Missouri
    8. Boston College
    9. Virginia Tech
    10. Georgia
    11. USC
    12. Michigan
    13. Arizona State
    14. U Conn
    15. Texas

As for USC, I can sum it up in two lines...
DEFENSE: Looking great! Totally shut down a pretty decent Oregon State offense
OFFENSE: Bah. Looked great for one quarter, absolutely stank the other three. That worries me a lot.

Yes! 21 in a row for FIU! :birthday:

    ...Oh right, their loses... :|

Best college football Saturday ever :mantis:
except for the fact my game was on the Big Ten Network and I did not see the game... :'(

    So...South Florida...what??? :bunny:
distant memory, and I can still hear Mark May making the argument that one week that they should jump OSU in the polls.....toooooo funnay

Maybe we won't hear about BC's quarterback being the best Heisman hopeful anymore either...maybe

I definitely like Oregon where they are at, thats who we should play IF we remain #1. I think we will. Michigan is looking weak, with the exception of Mike Hart who is their whole team. I'm not worried about Illinois at home, as much as I was not worried about Wisconsin at home.

Cincinnati should be in the top 20...they still face UConn and West Va...should be interesting.

Oh, and I think I could coach Nebraska better than Mr Callahan :D

    Bwahahaha. Gotta love OSU.
This has been a great year for Ohio sports in general.

Cavs went to the NBA Finals.
    Tribe went to the ALCS.
    Browns are looking somewhat good.
OSU went to the Title Game, and is looking to do that once more.
