If I were an Ohio State fan I'd be offended being referred to as Ohio, hah. Calling NC State "North Carolina" here is like the ultimate sin. -

Oh and if Ohio struggles against Penn State they're going to lose to us this year.
What is the basis of that comment??? You need to explain why...and I'm guessin' this is going to be good. :' />If I were an Ohio State fan I'd be offended being referred to as Ohio, hah. Calling NC State "North Carolina" here is like the ultimate sin.
Eh...not a big deal here really...
RUTGERS AND SOUTH FLORIDA TONIGHT... -

We beat Penn State with a freshman quarterback and our defense held them to field goals only. I really can't see how you guys could possibly have that much trouble against them. I realize that from some reason Ohio State historically struggles against Penn State but seriously: you have a superior defense to us and if you can't stop Penn State I really don't see how you're going to stop Mike Hart, Adrian Arrington, and Mario Manningham. Well that and the Penn State defense was extremely overrated. Mike Hart had more trouble running through Northwestern than Penn State.
That and we've got ourselves a major chip on our shoulder and there are only two season goals really attainable after the first two losses: Big Ten Champions (Rose Bowl) and defeating Ohio, which could come down to the same game...

EDIT: Please laugh if that's what you're after, it's more fun that way. -

ROFLMAO: This headline struck me as something out of The Onion:

"Florida St. and Miami Meet with Nothing at Stake"
Also, I'm really rooting for Michigan to win out, cuz that would mean OSU loses. I do NOT want to see OSU in the BCS game. They'd lose.
also, for USC to have any shot at the BCS title game, they all of these to happen:
- OSU, USF, BC lose at least once
- Oklahoma or LSU loses again
- USC wins out (including impressive enough wins vs Cal, Ariz. St., and Oregon)
Yeah... even I'm gonna admit that looks tough. -

Well, that is one team down, two to go before OU is automatic unless they drop the ball again. You are right Cork, it will take a minor miracle for USC to make the title game. You don't win much favor with the voters by losing to Stanford and then struggling against Arizona. Then again, voters are idiots. They can't think past a week. If USC manages to take down Cal, Oregon, and Arizona State they might not even remember why they were mad at USC in the first place. It's a wacky season so you never know. I honestly believe a whole two teams will finish with only one loss this year excluding Hawaii. I don't know who, but it just doesn't look that likely that many teams have the horses to win the games left on their schedules. -

In the Michigan Daily (the University daily newspaper) all the sports types predict the wins/loss for Saturday every Friday...
All of them called Michigan State over Ohio State. I'm laughing my ass off at them. As much as I'd like to see that it's really wishful thinking.

I don't think it will happen, but I can see where they are coming from. First off, look at the type of year it has been. If OU can lose to CU and USC can lose to Stanford than Ohio State can lose to Michigan State. Anything can happen. Michigan State will be the first offense Ohio State plays all year, and Michigan State leads the nation in sacks. That could be huge against an inexperienced QB, if you can rattle him a little and force some mistakes. It will take a monumental effort from Michigan State, and they will need to play a clean game and get a few ball to bounce their way, but its definitely possible. Plus, Michigan State always seems to have one huge win a year, the talent is their they just cannot do it on a consistent basis and that holds them down in the rankings. -

Yuppers. This is OSU's trap game. We'll see how they fare. If this season's upsets are any indication, they'll have to avoid penalties and turnovers. Yes, that's obvious.
Anyway, now that USF has lost, they'll prolly fall to like #10. Which is a bit unfair. They're more like a #7 or whatever. They're a BCS Bowl team for sure, I think; just not a BCS Championship team.
And Rutgers doesn't suck; they're just very inconsistent. But you saw last night, they can play pretty good defense when they want to, and that tailback of theirs is a hoss. -

But you know as well as I do that there is always one other team that you have trouble with every year. With Michigan, its us and well...Appalachian State and Oregon and then with us its Michigan and Penn State...and I do laugh a lot when I read this topic, but not necessarily at the peopleAlso, I'm really rooting for Michigan to win out, cuz that would mean OSU loses. I do NOT want to see OSU in the BCS game. They'd lose.
Really? cuz our bowl record is the same as Michigan...18-19, and in recent years, my money would be on us not Michigan, save that incredibly embarrassing game last year
As far as us going down to Michigan State...I'm not going to say it can't happen, because its true, anything can happen...but I'm guessing we will win. It will be a high scoring game though because Mich St does have some offense. The only thing that is at the far back corners of my scary mind though is 1998...and how Michigan State came into the 'shoe' and ruined what could have been the best OSU year ever...
As for South Florida..I watched that game and while I will say that quarterback makes things happen and is quite scrappy, I honestly could see OSU beat the living crap out of them...and I still think Cinci will beat them too...and omigod...the USF coach is just hysterical to watch, all those facial expressions!!!!
Anyone think KY might beat Florida? I think not.. -

Kentucky definitely has the ability to beat Florida, but I think the extra week of rest for FL will put them over UK.Edited by spiderman, 19 October 2007 - 10:11 PM.

^ Right on with that.
And it turns out OSU played sorta like expected. They won (like they should have), but had some trouble with some mistakes. Overall, no surprise, though I still hope they lose once this season.
LSU... wow... Big Balls Miles. They're crazy.
And even though it was hapless Notre Dame, I'm glad we finally destroyed a team this season AND shut them out.
All in all, a happy week--except Cal blew it against UCLA. Wow. FUCLA. -

Wow... Go Vandy! (now, that was completely unexpected!) First win over a team ranked that high in 70 years...
A bowl game is definitely a possibility now...

And what a season this is so far... lots of drama. The BCS should be fun in a few weeks. -

Well, we were cruising along in the Mich St game, doin our thang, proving the critics wrong and then whoa...in like 36 seconds we gave Mich St 14 points!!! wow, but luckily, we do have the best defense in the nation...whew. Next up Penn ST....whoopee
I was kinda hoping OK and LSU would both lose, but they pulled their games out. Vandy...what a surprise is right! Was not expecting that one AT ALL...
Cinci lost...that was a weird game, it was like they were just going through the motions, they have played terrible the last two games and I thought for sure they could beat South Florida, I'm doubting myself on that one now.
Cal lost again and whoa Oregon....we might be playing them if we remain undefeated.
I have to say it sucks to be #1 this early...but Oregon...they are in good position, and so is OK. -

Overall this was an exciting weekend. Still pissed that LSU pulled it out. Tuberville made a dumb decision with the squib kick, gave them too good of starting field position. I know Les Miles' gambles have been paying off... but it is going to bite him in the ass eventually. I know everybody loves the gambler win games approach.... but he is making some terrible terrible choices. I guess its working for him though. Oh well, if Florida makes it to the SEC Championship they win.
OU played an incredibly ugly game. Way too many mistakes, fumbles, just awful. But I was glad to see them line up and just play smashmouth when they needed to. OU still has the talent to be scary good, but they aren't playing to their full potential. Hopefully they can use this bye week to really polish the special teams and learn to hold onto the football.
I wasn't overly impressed by Oregon, they pulled away at the end but that was a tight game for the most part. Still, they are one bad play away from being undefeated. I still don't like anybody's chances to get out of the Pac 10 with less than 2 losses this year, there are too many good teams. Arizona State is the only one with a real shot, but they drop one minimum. And Cork, don't go jumping up and down too much to blow out ND this year. They really are a joke, its like beating up on Nebraska this year too. It just isn't fair... but I couldn't be enjoying it any more. Sweet delicious justice. ND fans are the biggest arrogant holier than thou pricks in college football, and Nebraska deserves to be spited for firing a 9 win coach. If Solich was slipping into mediocrity than Callahan is on a full scale avalanche.
No surprise in Kentucky not having the horses to hang with Florida. Big surprise in South Carolina going down to Vandy. I can't say I am disappointed, gotta protect OU's back in the BCS and all, but I like the Gamecocks, they are fiesty and normally beat teams I hate. However, I really shouldn't be too shocked about that result, they always seem to cough up a game at random every year, and the offense has been streaky at best. Great defense, bland offense.
Glad Kansas is still rolling, here is to a Jayhawk victory over Mizzou to ride an undefeated record into the Big XII Championship game. Put those damn Mizzou fans in their place, still claiming the Tigers are better than OU. Lies.
Now we just need Boston College to lose this Thursday to VT and all will be right with the world. Get all those undeserving teams out of there so we can get a good championship matchup. I wouldn't be too disappointed if OU doesn't make it... but so help me, Boston College better not be in there. -

BAH we played so horrible against Vandy...our offense looked like some high school. The defense played fantastic minus one blown coverage play (which came right off of one of our many turnovers). The FG that was given up was after a turnover, and we held Vandy to 3 and out hence forcing that. The offensive line really needs to step it up if we are going to beat Tennessee.
Go VT this thursday! -

BC is #2. I have a feeling the loss will happen.
Don't worry about that. I'm just glad we actually beat a team to a pulp when we should have. It's the same feeling of satisfaction you'd feel if OU had played ND a week after Colorado and had pounded them like 63-0.And Cork, don't go jumping up and down too much to blow out ND this year.
But yeah, it's ND, and they suck. We'll have a much bigger test vs Oregon next week. Should be a good game, unless we revert to "losing to Stanford mode," which in case we will die.
I'm rooting for Florida to make it to the SEC championship game, because I also think they can beat LSU if given a second chance. The SEC is going to tear itself apart.
I'm cautiously optimistic about USC. We control our destiny in the Pac 10, at least, and that's better than needing help elsewhere. BCS Championship game is still a long shot, of course, but in this crazy season, who the heck knows what will happen? Hell, if OSU loses to Penn State (doubtful), I'd simply smile. -

If you do you have little to laugh about when it comes to us.
LSU pulled that out though? Goddamn, I watched bits of that game and figured that they were shafted... Shame.
Interesting that USC managed exactly the same score as UofM against ND though... Very interesting. Next week could be fairly entertaining, we're getting a breather in our schedule again after the Purdue and Illinois games; but Ohio is playing Penn State. Personally I'm more interested in watching that one, should be way more exciting than watching a 6-2 team beat up on 1-6 team. Since it's a conference game, and AT HOME, on parents weekend, I really don't see us doing anything short of dominating. Then again that's what we thought going in against AppState too.
After than it's Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio... Not an easy way to end the season but I'll be damned if it isn't going to be fun to watch!

Michigan lost to Appalachian State. After that you could have gone on to win the National Title and everybody including the opposition would still be laughing. I mean I guess the Stanford loss is ballpark, and I know statistically it was a bigger upset (Vegas line), but come on. The #5 preseason team going down first week to a Division 1-AA team that was just too hot hot hot. That is all time.
