I will be rooting for Mizzou now, if only so hopefully OU can make it to the Big XII championship and then crush Mizzou's NC dreams. That would take the heat off of me for this loss.
I will be rooting for Missouri too, and then rooting for Oklahoma to beat Missouri... but obviously for different reasons...
West Virginia or LSU still need to lose....its looking more realistic to me that it will be LSU in the SEC championship...
Then it would be Ohio State vs. West Va
and if all that doesn't happen, we are probably going to face Arizona St in the Rose Bowl unless.... -

did you hear about University-Louisiana at Monroe (my hometowns college) beating Alabama!!
and the funny thing is 'bama almost beat LSU a few weeks back -

LSU might lose the SEC CHampionship game if Georgia makes it over Tennessee. However, if LSU is playing against Tennessee then it will be a joke of a game. Tennessee is terrible. -

As a Georgia fan, that Tennessee-Vandy game was one of the most disappointing things ever. So close, yet so far away. Anyway, I agree that LSU will destroy Tennessee in the SEC championship game if Ten. ends up going to it. Even if Tennessee beats Kentucky this week chances are still good that UGA gets into a good bowl game as an at-large, assuming UGA can beat GT. But a UT loss to Kentucky and then a UGA win over LSU in the SEC championship would always be nice too. -

Sorta... but not really. And I definitely felt them deserving of a BCS Bowl (though I was surprised that they pulled it off against OU).Thats what they said about Boise State last year...
C'mon Becky... even if I was not a Trojan fan, I'd still be picking 'SC over ASU. Or at least Oregon going to the Rose Bowl (if they can win out, they hold the tiebreaker; maybe they'll be inspired to rally w/o their leader... tho hopefully they just get killed). ASU isn't a bad team, but they feasted on a really easy schedule through the first 2/3 of the season to get as high as they did. Props for not losing till Oregon, but ASU is not BCS caliber. It's not bravado; I really will be disappointed if we don't beat them in Tucson. Unless we revert to penalty/turnover mania, we should beat the Sun Devils.going to face Arizona St in the Rose Bowl
But dogone it... OSU does have a good chance again. The Big 12 is OU, Kansas, and Missouri. And that's it. But the schedule has built the North teams up to appear championship caliber. I don't think the Big 12 Champ will come from the north, barring random injuries. So right now, West Virginia has the best chance of slipping in. For OSU to go to New Orleans, LSU needs to lose to Arkansas or the SEC East champ. And if that champ is Tennessee, that's not going to happen. -

Well....in years past perhaps
Your defense is definitely better than ASU but your offense....well, thats questionable....as for Oregon, I'd rather play them than either of you, but jeez, their performance after Dixon went out was subpar at best. Its all a tossup if you ask me.
What is with the game being played on Thanksgiving night anyway??? I personally think thats ridiculous to make college kids play football on Thanksgiving...let them be home with their families. We have Detroit to watch after all...thats tradition!!! -

I have no idea why we're playing on Thanksgiving. Messes up their dinner AND mine. lol
Actually, I gotta say that ASU has a pretty good defense that might give our offense trouble if play like we did in the middle of the season. However, if we can play at our highest level, we should beat the Sun Devils.
As for Oregon... they're nothing without Dixon. If you're going to the Rose Bowl, you'll want to play either USC or ASU. OSU should be able to beat ASU. Against USC, I think you'd still be favored, but it'd be a much better game.
If you face LSU, though, I'll be rooting for you to get creamed. No hard feelings, Becky. -

No offense taken...I always root for USC to get beat We agree we hate each others 'teams'.... -

That LSU game was somethin else. As usual, the SEC is the most exciting conference in college football. I was rooting for LSU all the way though. -

Better change the title of the topic again....LSU goes down!
Did anyone else see that happening? I did, but yet when it happened...I was like WOW. Darren McFadden had a career day. So, my youngest son is home this weekend and he came up with these stats so far this season:
15 top five teams have lost this year
3 Number Ones - LSU twice, OSU once
5 Number Twos - USC, Cal, USF, BC, and Oregon
1 Number Three - Oklahoma
3 Number Fours - Florida, ASU, Oklahoma
3 Number Fives - Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia
Which all made me realize something that I find odd...Oklahoma will probably be ranked around #7 after this weekend and yet...they were in the top five TWICE and got beat this year...a little bias going on there I think.
So, honestly, this is interesting now. Kansas and Missouri tomorrow, one will lose, OSU is back in third place for sure. IF this Oklahoma team who apparently is sooo good that they can be in the top 7 three times after getting beat twice can beat the winner of Kansas/Missouri then OSU will be going to the National Title game with West Virginia...and if West Virginia loses tomorrow...OSU may be playing Georgia!!!
and....and.....I'm going to go watch some basketball (we are losing) and then the Hawaii/Boise St game just for the heck of it... -

What do you mean bias in favor of OU? You listed LSU as losing twice at the #1 spot. Had they really earned it? Sure, they beat some good teams. But they also played the last 4 weeks down to the final minute, trailing in all of them late in the 4th. But oh, the SEC is so strong. Or, they are so mediocre, and they beat up on each other like everyone else does. I am not going to make any arguments for the strength of the Big XII.... but the SEC is not worlds better than everyone else like many would have you believe.
I think OU's games were both close enough to merit their rankings afterwards. Look at the CU game... CU was ahead of OU for 1 second... happened to be the last one. A three point loss on the road after being up the whole game. Look at the Texas Tech game. No excuse for what happened on defense, but our starting QB went down in the first quarter and we still came back. Did you watch the game? The should have been touchdown on fourth down that the refs ruled incomplete? I am not going to cry foul like in the Oregon game, I am just going to suggest that the game was pretty damn close to being tied. SO both losses were exceptionally close games. But no, OU has not performed well thus far.
However Becky, for the next two weeks you are the world's biggest OU fan. Because if OU wins the Big XII, Ohio State is in. If OU doesn't win the Big XII, you need a West Virginia loss.
And want to know something really scary? If West Virginia were to fall to Pitt (rivalry game) or UConn and OU wins out, OU has a very good shot of being in the big dance against your Buckeyes. Beating the #1 KU Jayhawks or the #1 Missouri Tigers in the Big XII Championship game would catapult OU over Oregon, USC, Georgia, LSU, and Virginia Tech who all have two losses. West Virginia is the only team OU needs to lose. -

Or WVU will beat UConn, but Oklahoma will beat the Big 12 champ next week, and it's OSU vs WVU. Lucky Buckeyes. lol
But that might be better than WVU vs Kansas. What a season! -

Well, its all up to the teams playing, cuz us buckeyes are in the passenger seat along for the ride.
Like I've said before, we are at the very least going to the Rose Bowl...
Yes, Pyro, I'll be rooting for OU and for W.VA to lose...WVA still has UConn and Pitt...and I hear you about the SEC and LSU.. -

So rankings should look something like this come tomorrow:
1. West Virginia (more impressive win than Mizzou beating a good but overrated Kansas)
2. Missouri (I thought they were better than Kansas anyway, because they did hang with OU in their loss to them)
3. Ohio State (take that loss to Illinois away and we'd have a unanimous #1 because they went undefeated in a BCS conference--even if that conference is the worst conference this year; seriousy, the Big Ten sucks)
4. Georgia
5. Virginia Tech
6. Oklahoma
7. LSU
8. Virginia Tech
9. USC (although I honestly hope we are higher; I wouldn't be surprised if we're close to the #5 position, if the voters base things on our late season resurgence)
10. Kansas
11. Boston College
12. Hawaii
13. Florida
14. Tennesee
15. Arizona State
And I don't feel like going further. It really just matters up to like #12 anyway.
Although if you go be hottest teams with the most momentum, the top three would be like WVU, Mizzou, and USC. -

BTW, Becky, I'll pretend you never thought ASU had a chance against USC.
Also, my friend said something funny yesterday: You can't spell Les Miles without two L's. (I think he heard that from someone else too.) -

^heh, I watched most of that game, ASU just got slapped around the second half
was pulling for a mizzou win over Kansas although it wasn't quite as sweet as it could have been after giving up what.... 21 points in the last quarter? -
Kumba Offline
I did not get to see KU vs. Mizz till the final seconds coz I was at the FIU/FAU game doing stuff for my college's game where we extended our streak to 23 games in a row... tho at halftime I got to interview Don Shula which made up for the loss somewhat. -

That is cool Kumba!
3. Ohio State (take that loss to Illinois away and we'd have a unanimous #1 because they went undefeated in a BCS conference--even if that conference is the worst conference this year; seriousy, the Big Ten sucks)
Even if we are in the weakest league, we are still #3 in the nation
Although if you go be hottest teams with the most momentum, the top three would be like WVU, Mizzou, and USC.
and the funniest thing is...any one of those hot teams could probably be beat by an unranked teamBTW, Becky, I'll pretend you never thought ASU had a chance against USC.
What I said was that the Pac 10 is a tossup and it still is....you guys still have UCLA, AZ St has Arizona, and Oregon has Oregon St...who will win, who will lose??
If we play USC in the Rose Bowl...I'm seriously considering getting tickets and going -
Corkscrewed Offline
^ Ya know, the crazy thing about all of this is that UCLA, out of all teams, still has a chance to win the PAC 10 and go to the Rose Bowl. If they beat USC (that would be your unranked team you joke about) AND Arizona State loses to Arizona, UCLA goes to the Rose Bowl.
WTF?!
lol
Also, me thinks Kansas didn't fall nearly as far was they should have. Mizzou pretty much dominated the game until the end third, and usually in cases like this, the losing team still slips a good five spots. Oh well. I'm actually rooting for Mizzou to beat OU, just because I really do want to see OSU vs USC (it would be a very good and fun game IMO). However, if WVU and Mizzou lose next week, well... that would be fitting, wouldn't it?
But my gut feeling tells me that WVU won't. Honestly. Even with this season. Mizzou has a pretty good chance of losing, though, albeit in a closer game (that would then probably send them to the Fiesta Bowl or Orange Bowl, or something, with OU getting the BCS bid to... the other one?). And that would let OSU move up to #2, where unless they've fixed their defense from last year, they WILL get run around by a WVU team even faster than last year's Florida squad, barring injury or spectacular WVU deviation from all season.
Those are my thoughts.
