    Download

Scroll down the page for the download link for the 1.1 update.

Please read the readme. It can answer some questions. (It comes after the install, and when it's installed it can be found in the RCTModified Directory in the RCT2 Folder along with the Backup)

As I said before, I love the idea and I hope that there is some way to make the switch. Actually, there might be a solution. Can you install TWO versions of RCT2 on your PC? If so, you can have one version for the normal settings and one with the RCTMod version. This way you just run the version you need.

In any case, I will be going in and re-working all of the Marriott maps using the new tool once it is released

Question is will NE (ie Kumba and others that judge/review parks) be willing to use this tool if the park was designed for it? Otherwise it will look really ugly if they don't

if the g1.dat is included in the file or if is said which rct modified to use I think we can use it while judging.
  • RCTNW%s's Photo
I would agree but just because it's there and available doesn't mean it will be used.

just wanted to say that i think rctmodified is a very terrible thing. when everything is measured in custom standards, you can no longer tell if a park is good or not. also i hate the idea of something fucking with the nature of the game. custom scenery does that way more than necessary anyway already.
if this thing is made standard at ne i'm actually convinced i'll leave this site once and for all.

^ Shame, because it's only improving the game...
  • RRP%s's Photo
Agreed, this doesnt remove anything from the game really, just improve aspects which came with the original. How often do you actually see entrances used well?and those flat ride bases always looked shit imo.
  • lucas92%s's Photo
Shut the fuck up you old-fashioned rct builders, «RctModified» is just a new way to build in rct. So if you want to always do the same fucking thing, then don't use it.

    Nice work JJ. ;)
  • Cocoa%s's Photo
I'm going to wait to download this before it becomes the new standard.
And it will make my current parks look weird.

I'm also wondering, do the invisible bases actually not exist so you can build on them, or are they just invisible, so you still have to zero clearance to build on them?

  • JJ%s's Photo
Yeah. You have to zero clearance still.

JJ, great job with this you've inspired me to get back into working with RCT2. I can't see why everyone has such a problem with it, the RCT stations are so ugly. Ive started to make ride stations invisible in LL too and replacing them with regular track instead. It looks so much nicer not having that horrible brown trim.

Nice one on removing those flatride bases too might make things look a lot better visually.

    Dear pretentious fucks:

Congratulations on making a significant step forward in RCT. But to those of us that couldn't care less, we'd rather you stop posting in everyone's park advertisement that they should switch to RCTModified. Fuck off.

It would seem there are better ways to make a point.

Anyway, I've downloaded it. I'm still not entirely sold on it and will be building my park without it and using Hexediting to get rid of the entries like normal. However, if there are a number of people that will have this installed, I figure I should make it viewable with both this and the more widely accepted regular form.
  • Levis%s's Photo
well you can make the bases of a ride invisible with hex editing also and the entrance of an ride also and the entrance of a station you can do with normal hacking ... so this is for the lazy folks ;) .
I can promise one thing, I wont be using this version of rct modified and my parks wont be compitable with it also.
espacially if fantasy ever gets done my new park wont be compitiable with this

I’m happy to have made the switch as it takes care of a nagging problem I have had with the game. And I guess you could call me lazy as I really don’t have time to learn HEX editing when this does it for me.

For me, it’s about having fun and making the building process as easy as possible. Hell, I don’t even know how to do a simple track merge but then I have never had a need for it either. As I stated before, the tool works for me and I’ve made the switch. That said, I do agree with MA in that the mindless post of “RCTModified” to an Ad District park is annoying as hell.

I have to agree. As much as it's great to see enthusiasm the 'spamming' of people's topics with this is not exactly needed.

Two topics is hardly every park in the advertising district. Fuck it i'll go and write a more lengthly reply to justify the use of it if that makes you guys feel any better.

RCNTW i agree wholeheartedly, i'm way too lazy to do these hacks. I only use it to make invisible stations which I can hack, but I too am a lazy SOAB.

While I can agree to some extent with those saying this makes it all too easy, I also think that the possibilities this gives well weighs up the negative sides of it. I mean, part of parkmaking is of course the technical ability, and this makes some of the trickiest things easier, but I also think that some truly beautiful parks will be made with this. I'm gonna download it. As for the changing of g1.dat thingys for parks with/without the edited one, I don't see why some think it's sooo hard. Once again, the positives of it easily weighs this up. I'd gladly have even more "pallets" or what you want to call it.

RCTModified 1.2 has now been released. It introduces the use of RCT2 and RCTModified at the same time as well as the SV7. There are also minor language changes. Not really any new features just more of a functionality update.

IF YOU HAVE RCTMODIFIED 1.1 OR EARLIER INSTALLED THEN PLEASE RESTORE THE BACKUP G1.DAT THAT CAN BE FOUND IN THE RCTMODIFIED FOLDER OTHERWISE RCT2.EXE WILL ALSO RUN RCTMODIFIED AS WELL AS RCTMODIFIED.EXE

To continue use of your existing parks with rctmodified please rename your park from SV6 to SV7. An explanation for this change can be found on the RCTModified Page. This version comes in 4 versions. One version is for use with English using the CD, one for Dutch and one for German. The Fourth version is for use for those who use the no cd patch. Enjoy :)

    More information available here.

RCTMODIFIED ALSO HAS A SUPPORT FORUM AVAILABLE FOR TOPICS IN GERMAN, ENGLISH AND DUTCH. HERE.
