hmm... I've only smoked straight weed in small amounts. Basically rolls roughly the lenth (but not entirely the thickness of) cigarettes.

And it does't stay lit very well; I've always had to relight a couple times to keep things going properly.

i donno, i personally like alchy better than pot, i have done weed and i dont really like it that much, but that doesnt mean im opposed to it and i think cigs and pot should switch legal status, and the drinking age should be lowered by 2 years

Ruins some of the fun, part of the fun of drinking sometimes is the fact you are breaking the law doing it underage. I love British drinking laws.

Why in gods name would you do that? One of my closest friends is a total pot head and he would tell you that doing that ^ is just a total waste of the fun. And I agree with Pete here, pot will do way more than simply relax you if you can get the right stuff. I've done enough that I felt like I was dreaming; literally, while I was indeed, awake; it was exceptionally comfortable, but also very strange.

Overall Ed is correct though; drugs are a waste of a good mind and good life (even if you think yours is otherwise; it's not). I relieve my stress via playing music; it's just what works for me. From time to time I roll a few with that certain 'close friend' and I definitely can agree that it blows off steam like nothing else; however, it's no way to live. Still I can't disagree with Pete here either; if it's our government's job to protect us why do they ban substances that could be regulated and taxed into being relatively safe income? I can understand Heroin or Meth being illegal, and I doubt most drug-using/abusing people would even try those if some of the others were available to them (more easily).

Anyway the general story is Marijuana definitely shouldn't be illegal; it is for social reasons only.

All in moderation, my friend. You don't "live" it, it's just a part of your life and makes life more enjoyable. I mean, if you really want to stop doing all pointless things in life, then stop masturbating (hah!).

You want to say something is "pointless" or "fake" and that you can get the same feeling some other way that's somehow more meaningful. But why not just have both? Smoke pot + play guitar = very fun, you get creative (atleast I do). So your example in itself isn't all that great either.

I really don't like it when people sit there and call weed "pointless" it's just the same rigmarole as saying homosexuality "isn't natural". A pointless statement which is erroneous in the only context that matters.

Weed certainly has a point with ME. Helps me sleep and deals with my joints, for two. Also puts me in a good state of mind to be creative, which is important to me. So... weed is pointless? I think not. Certainly I don't NEED it, but like I said, that's not the point. You certainly don't NEED aspirin or Tylenol every time you have a headache, but it certainly helps.

Oh, and the reason it's still illegal is actually multi-faceted.

1) It's HARD to regulate. Weed grows very easily, in many places. It's cheap to maintain, doesn't require too much to keep it healthy, etc. Based on that, you can assume many many people would simply grow their own. Enough people do this = the value of it goes down = less revenue from taxing it. They can very easily regulate tobacco, that stuff is really hard to grow right. I mean, when was the last time you heard of someone growing their own tobacco?

2) Politics (you heard this one already)

3) Racism (ditto)

Blitz, I don't have any problem with people smoking weed or drinking or anything else. Like you said, if it's something that matters to you than it's not pointless. The problem I have with weed is when people start categorizing "these are weed smokers and these aren't" (and it comes from both sides) and it's supposed to somehow mean something about you whether you smoke or not. Like you're unmotivated and lazy if you smoke it or you're square and unhip and uncreative if you don't. That's bullshit. I know you weren't responding to my comments, but I wanted to be clear which side of the issue I'm on. I don't critisize anyone for smoking weed, most of my friends do and I like them anyway but it bugs me that saying you smoke is supposed to automatically make you sound cool or something. Smoking or drinking anything doesn't make you cooler or more adult, it just makes you someone who smokes or drinks. There's no stupider reason to do anything than what other people will think about you if you do.

^agreed. To a large extent with me it's a desire to experience almost everything (that I deem reasonably safe) so that I can better empathize with everyone around me. You can't really understand people without trying their shoes on; imagining isn't enough for me.

That still doesn't make any substance a lifestyle for me; I care too much for myself and everyone around me to destroy myself over such and "experience".

No i agree with that, there's nothing defining about a person when discussing whether they smoke or not. That sort of thing doesn't even enter my mind, it's just something I assume everyone I converse with is smart enough to grasp.

Though, a lot of unmotivated lazy people definitely take solace IN smoking weed (and other things...). Suffice to say, we are not all alike.
