I am pretty new at building parks and have decided to try and build a Epcot RCT2 park. It will not be an exact recreation because it is intended to be the second "gate" or map for my Disneyland Resort which is about 45% done. Anyways here is my progress so far:
Entrance and Monorail station:
Entrance Plaza:
Fountain in Inoventions area:
Future world will include:
Soarin- suspended flying coaster
Imagination
Honey I shrunk the audience 3D theater
Test track
Mission Space
Wacky Weather
Monorail
Living with the land
World Showcase:
Maelstrom
Legend of the temple- suspended coaster
boat trip
and some others I only plan on doing about 4-5 countries.
Comments welcome..Edited by wed10, 16 September 2007 - 09:15 PM.

Your land is too flat, and your archy is way too blocky. Your building need to have flow to them. Look at some others parks to get an idea of what to do. I recomend going to "parkmakers" on the home page, and selecting some of RCTNW's parks to download. He is the master of archy...

You're doing EPCOT? I heard that's it hard to recreate. I wish you the best of luck. -

Soarin is actually a flat ride, rather than a ride with a track.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think any ride without some sort of track is a flat ride.Edited by Sparks, 13 August 2007 - 04:51 PM.

Yeah I know it is a really cool ride if you have never rode it. Anyways I am still thiinking about using a motion simulator. And actually Soarin does have a "track" but it doesn't have drops. -

Yeah, Soarin' isn't a coaster.
And a flat ride is a little hard to define, since a few do have track and drops. The easiest way to do it is to say that coasters are unpowered for a large portion of their course. And aren't drop rides. So a flat ride is usually everything else. You just kind of have to use common sense in sorting out the dark rides (which are tracked and powered, but not really meant for much physical thrill) and the powered coasters (which you could possibly lump in with the flat rides, since they are basically the same as some flats, but I consider them coasters since they feel like coasters and tend to have some customization to them).
And as far as the park, your Spaceship Earth is way too tiny. You're aware that the one at Epcot houses a dark ride, right? -

Wait, there's a Spaceship Earth in those screens?
In that case, yes, it is too small by a long, long way. -

Ok I just made spaceship Earth small because it really is useless in my park, I'm not putting a ride in it and thought about designing a different icon for this park all together but we'll see I guess. I have switched back to my Disneyland which is being updated on Coaster-net.com I could update it here if anyone would be interested in seeing it.

I would like to see it.
You could just post a link if it's too much of a pain.

I am still working on tommorowland and will be moving onto frontierland shortly. -

Very nice, but Big Thunders layout isn't completly acurate. =P Not that it matters, but I could try at designing you a layout if you'd like. -

I'm on my Moms PC, but I'm going to my Dads tonight, so I can make the layout tonight. I found some sites that have layout maps of the Disneyland rides so I use those. -

cool, this would be a great addition. And by the way the picture on there was just the layout and "structure" I always finish the mountain with rocks. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew that I wasn't going to leave it as base block. This is great, if I have one weakspot it is coaster design.
I won't be on tonight but will be tommorow.Edited by wed10, 15 August 2007 - 03:02 PM.

Since I was literally just at EPCOT hours ago (I'm currently waiting for my plane at the Orlando airport), I will say that despite your park not being a recreation, it's incredibly mediocre. Whether you like it or not, you need Spaceship Earth in the park; it's not EPCOT without it. The only way you're probably going to be able to do it is with coaster track, a la natelox with his LL park. He probably got the closest capturing EPCOT in my opinion, maybe someone still has that file lying around. You're buildings are also terrible. While the architecture in the actual park isn't terribly detailed, it's pretty basic and streamlined. The only thing is that EPCOT has a TON of extended curves/roundness, something that's hard to do in RCT2. I suggest looking at actual park photos. Also, keep in mind the EPCOT atmosphere; it's a very beautiful park with a lot of open grass, trees, flowers, and just foliage in general. I find that the paths and planting are in some cases more important than anything else in the park.
I would like to continue but my flight is currently about to board. I will upload pictures when I get home. Good luck wed10! -

If you want the file, contact me on AIM or MSN. Tried to get as close to Big Thunder as I could, and labeled the parts for you. I've been studying the tunnel spots and the max speed of the ride, so this should be a darn close recreation. Minus that turn after the second lift. I also tried to keep it small so it'd fit in your park easily. -

Have you considered the WestCOT spire as inspiration? That was the official replacement from SpaceStation Earth when Anaheim locals protested the dominating geosphere.Ok I just made spaceship Earth small because it really is useless in my park, I'm not putting a ride in it and thought about designing a different icon for this park all together but we'll see I guess. So far you need to work on your scenery completely. So far it's a start, but there needs to be more to this park. Constructing rides and buildings from scenery you can download from rctmart or some other site and putting together in any random shape and form is not the best way to go. Anyone can go online and just do that.
You need to greatly reduce the amount of this custom scenery you use and shape from other pieces, escpecially building blocks and much simipiler architectural features designed by great park makers. Then look at all types of image of what you're trying to build to recreate or derive inspiration, it really helps. I see much potential is that change is made.Edited by Grand Admiral, 15 August 2007 - 10:12 PM.
