Hey guys. I've had some trouble with 8cars and Vista lately. The trainer will let me use the 0-Clearances function only once and the next time it doesn't do anything. But when I reboot the computer, it works once more and "dies" again.
I tried 1.3.2.0 and 1.3.0.2
Both the same. I also tried to run them in different compatibility modes and as Admin/Normal User.
Just the same.
Is there any solution for this? I'm getting a little bit desperate right now o_O -

Nevermind, I fixed it. 8cars won't work on vista if the currently loaded savegame isn't in the RCT2 Savegame - Folder.

OMG I had this problem... that's seriously it?
btw, what about subfolders? I do things like "in-progress", "canceled", "finished", etc... -

Well, rejoyed to soon.
Doesn't work anymore. Is ja227 (I can't remember his name ^^) still active? Has he planned any special Vista edition of 8cars? -

Mine still doesn't work, at all... and I asked Parkitect myself on RctRevalutions a few months ago, and he said he didn't have Vista so he couldn't help me. I think you and me are out of luck for a permanent solution, Mifune... -

Bumping this to see if anyone knows a solution.
I have the same problem - 8 cars (sometimes) works the first time I open it but then it stops working at all. The problem is getting worse, too - I've been trying for ages to do some zero-clearance stuff. 8 cars zeros the clearances fine but by the time I come to restore the clearances it's broken again. Argh! So basically I can't build anything with zero clearances on which is very very frustrating!
I'm running RCT2 and 8cars on windows XP compatibility mode, and I've tried version 1.302, 1.31 and 1.32 with no success whatsoever.
Please help! -

I have the same problem and if it doesn't restore, save the game while still zeroed with a different file name. Close everything, reboot and then open it all back up. You can then restore and save. Yes it's a pain in the ass but it works -

But is there any sort of fix known? Would be great to not have to go buy a new hard drive, set it up, and dual-boot XP just so I can hack. -

disable UAC
if it still doesn't work disable every useless protection in vista (like windows defender) until it works -

That doesn't always do it, Levis (at least for me it doesn't work). I have the same problem and this seems to be a solution:
1. When 8cars doesn't respond anymore, just click "Park>Optimize map data space" (I don't even know what this function is really meant for)
2. 8cars gives an error (not an error in rct2!) and closes automatically
3. Next time you open 8cars, it works again (at least for a while)
It's still irritating to do, but it's less work than restarting erverything. -

what version of vista are you running?
and are you on a administrator account? -

mmm...I'm using ultimate but that shouldn't make any diffrence.
actually since I work with vista I haven't encountered any problem with 1.302 of the 8cars.
1.32 bugs in the edit ride screen cause it doesn't show the traintype good but maybe it did that in xp also for me.
you also had to press combatability files to view certain things of rct2 right ?
I never had to press that so I think the problem is there somewhere ... -

Well, I had too, but that was due to the UAC. Since I disabled that, I don't have problems anymore, except this little one with 8cars, which is solved like I said. -

I'll give that a try. I would rather do that then reboot my PC each time.
Thanks -

Yeah I'll give that a go too. I've disabled UAC but that didn't seem to help. Luckily I'm home from uni for a few days so I've been able to use our PC with XP for a while. -

btw you disabled windows defender also kenneth?
I did that as soon as I got vista so maybe thats the trick or maybe allow the program something?
