Fiesta! / well, i wasn't going to

I'd be in for that. Weve got a lot of different ideas down now and if we can keep this huge LL group parks idea the LL productivity levels are going to soar this year.

As much as I'd like to join, and I do play LL, I am booked in terms of RCT projects until I'm off to college. This project looks excellent though I admite I've yet to look at it in game.

I like RMM's idea. It seems that these days there aren't a lot of peepable parks... If we do it, will we make the 1 tile paths?
  • Panic%s's Photo

yea how about a peep friendly park?
imagine it man, a giant ass peep friendly map.
    coasters and paths everywhere.

    its an idea.

That would work pretty well with the 20-coaster park I've wanted to do for a while...I'd be down for doing at least a section.
    :woot:

There is a hack that lets you to make only one section of path accessable to peeps. I think you can do it with the beast trainer if i remember right. So it could be either way.

^Yea. That's better than a one path park. Phatage did a LL Six Flags Adventure park with that hack(it's on his parkmaker page).
  • Loopy%s's Photo
Im with Panic we should cram it with rides if were going to do that along with themes ect. That'd make one hell of a park.
  • RMM%s's Photo
i dont think imma take the time to do that.
im talking about a full 126x126 single-wide path park.
stalls and coasters and flat rides everywhere.

it can have all the detail of, say BGSS but single-wide paths.
plus, w/ peeps in the park, it will seem more alive...
makin us LL players who never finish anything, want to keep playin and buildin.
ive always wanted to do that.

    remember arid heights?

Sounds good. There are so many ideas for maps in this topic now its ridiculous we just need to get them in motion and were onto something huge.
  • Panic%s's Photo
I would almost say we need a group forum of our own.
  • Loopy%s's Photo
Now that would be awesome. It'd make things a lot easier and more organised and what not aswell.
  • JJ%s's Photo
This is sounding better by the minute!
  • Regulatin%s's Photo
    i wanna start now.
  • RMM%s's Photo
yea i was thinkin that itd me maybe 3 or 4 of us only.
but its great how much everyone wants to do this.
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo

let me retract my previous post.

im 100% sure the 2nd screen is my work...

and i'm 100% positive it's mine. since, you know, i built it. i started this after we stopped talking, buddy.

and ride6, as i stated before, i haven't worked on this fucking thing in over a year. it had no direction, and that killed it. also moonchild sucks, so no.

Theres so many choices on what to do its incredible to see this amount of enthusiasum. I didnt think there'd be this much of a response for it.

If anyone wants to start anything you might aswell just go for it and just pass the map on to somebody else when your bored or something.
  • RMM%s's Photo
i dont think it'll ever work like that really.
i wish it would but we need to i dunno, cut some people.
the bad people. haha naw. but yea, there needs to be fewer people.
    or some kind of planning.

or else this will be like every other collabo here.
not going no where. ya know.
  • Loopy%s's Photo
Can see what you mean. Once the fiestas over and done with we could do with getting a topic(s) in the ad or if possible a seperate forum section with topics for each project. That way we could have people put their names down for what they want to be involved in and what not.
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo
give me a corner or something and i'll be happy, i suppose.

My take on it is this.

In order to be successful and get this done, we need to know what we're "up against." No one has finished an LL collabo in something like four years (?). It's crucial to recognize what stopped the ones that have failed in that period so that we can consciously overcome it, rather than be confident in the beginning that we'll succeed where they didn't, watch that unravel as people's real-life schedules impede them from working on the project, and watch this project grind to a halt and become another footnote and another could-have-been.

In my opinion - this doesn't mean it's correct - what fell away in projects like ttfr and posix/Phatage/ride6's was "parkmaking energy," and what caused it to fall away may have been a lack of "parkmaking definition." It was a "you build your own area, I'll build my area, wheee, another building over here" deal and that is really bad parkmaking definition and led to a lack of coherency and inspiration. What I mean by parkmaking definition is the thick imposition of certain conceptions about what you are going to build, certain ropes you make yourself follow, that force you to be more creative and think more imaginatively. Having that sense of definition about what you want to build causes ideas to pop up quickly and in detail, and not having it causes there to be too many options for certain ones to jump out at you like that. Although tracidEdge is an excellent parkmaker and probably top 25 LL all-time, I believe lack of definition also killed his Project Moonchild and perhaps this park.

To apply it to this project:
"These people will work on this map, this guy will make a Chinese themed area with a suspended, this guy will do this, and the areas won't be connected in any way other than by bridges" has been the name of the game in probably 80% of collabo attempts and is really bad parkmaking definition.
"The entire map will be peep friendly" plus the first idea is better parkmaking definition.
"The entire map will be peep friendly and have a shitload of coasters but still have strong theming which the coasters wind around" plus the first is even better parkmaking definition. It's probably good enough.

On the other end, there is a danger of having too much definition. That's something that befell Posix, as he thought too much about what he would build and that took the fun out of it.
But there is a middle path, and with enough planning I think we can get this project set off on that path.
