Ask the Experts / How To make launch track

I want to make launch track with boosters for a coaster similar to kingda ka and stealth, is there any way of doing this or do i just have to do powered launch mode?

You can make a chainlift and then hack it to be very fast.

Or if you're making a ride that has a chain lift and a launch (ala Maverick), set the chain lift to what you want with 8 cars or whatever. That will control the initial lift. Then hack in a separate launch and set that tracks chain lift speed to whatever you wish.

You can only have one chainlift speed per coaster... At least I thought that was how it was

Chainlift speed is saved with the cars. So you can have various cars go over one and the same chainlift element at different speeds, but you can't have two or more chainliftspeeds on one coaster. I'm sure levis knows a way arround it though and already Roomie came up with an idea to solve this.

They did it in Snowdrift during H2H4; same idea as Maverick

^ I did it in that with a cable lift for the first part and a chain launch on the second part.

I also tried spacing out those launched lift sections, but that looked rediculous. It still bothers me with the layout how it stops at the top of the lift, so you need to be careful where you put those block brakes before the launch.

haven't really looked at it but don't know if there is a way around it.
you could use the trick CP6 did (I knew that one already indeed).
the image for the Turbo is still in rct2 but when you give the track the code for turbo it just becomes invisible and doesn't accelerate your car...
you can't put a brake to a negative speed ... those are the things I tried till now....

What I know for sure is that if you have two trains from two different attractions go over the same lifthill element they can have different speeds, as the chainlift speed of the ride is the one that matters.
JKay used that trick in his latest spotlight park.

Considering this the chainlift speed has to be saved with the ride or trains. Based on this a train can't go over two chainlift elements at different speeds as the speed is not set by the chainlift but by the train/ride itself.

The easiest way to get around it is to use the method CP6 pointed out as the cable lift is no chainlift element, but if you want to go more creative other methods like a shoestring coaster with an underground train element for the coaster physics have to be used.
