Okay, terrible was a strong word but I flat out hate wank like this. It's the drumming equivalent of throwing your voice from the top to the bottom of your range as fast as you can. Good for you, I don't want to hear it.

He's got a good sense of rhythm, and he plays fast, but I'd hate to play with a guy like him. I have, actually, and it's a pain in the ass. It's all about how much skill he can but into it, not how it sounds. You can tell he just wants to look talented in that video. At times I'm not even sure he's listening to the song. 0:43 to 0:53 especially.

Now I agree with you about the passage you pointed out, but in all of the videos he has up, that is the only time I ever heard him not dead on. The argument you're making is one I've heard forever. If something is too technical, it's not musical, is what you're saying, right? I completely disagree. Listin to this guy play the ringtone one. He plays like 15 different songs with 15 completely different styles/genres, something that shows an actual training in music, and not some guy that taught himself drums in his mom's basement.

Personally, I think the guy is absolutley playing the shit out of his drums, and handles the huge assortment of equipment fluently, without any awkwardness at all, and more importantly, musically. Listen to the end of the posted video of William Tell Overture when he's accenting the major hits and mimicing the melodic lines on the different pitched cymbals and toms. Most of all, his performance is genuine, engaging, and entertaining to watch.

I jumped the gun with my first post, I guess I just get really bitter whenever I see anything like that, considering the drummer my old band had.

I don't think that something technical isn't music, I just don't like it when people confuse talent with musicianship. I don't care how hard it is too play, if it doesn't sound good you can forget about it. And that really didn't sound that good to me.

I watched a few more of his videos, and while I'm not a fan of the drumming style, I take back my previous statement. And he's obviously having fun, which is really what it all comes down to.

Haha, I like how it uses effects to intentionally make it look more lo-fi.

Although the singing isn't great pitch-wise, and the guitar playing nothing special, the lyrics are nice and he played with feeling. so...6/10
