Surely a better game would be something like:
You post direct link to a song (not a download, more like myspace, youtube, purevolume etc.) and the person below listens it, and states what they think of it.
Otherwise, in most cases, people will have not heard of the band. This way, it might encourage people to listen to some different music than usual.
Pretty much like that:
I'll go first of course:
Band: Arcade Fire
Song: No Cars Go @ Rock en Seine 2005
LINK
Of course I love Arcade Fire, and this performance, but what's your rating?

That violin is horribly, and I do mean horribly, out of tune...
Apart from that 8/10

Ok I know I didn't react well but just putting 0/10 for a song that clearly possesses musical merit even if you don't like the genre is pathetic. Retaliating as I did is equally so and I apologise. -

This topic will end poorly.
And while I'm here let me just mention that the Chili Peppers are fucking terrible. -

I have nothing against the genre, I just think the Manics blow. But you're right, I should have given them about a 3. Because Red Hot Chilli Peppers are in this whole other level of shittiness.
You reacted fine. "Goth" and "shit" is pretty valid. "Unoriginal" isn't, not when referring to this particular band, but it made me laugh all the same. You're a good guy. I like you.
Anyway, I give that Neubauten video 10/10 for effort.
Onto the next one!

I expect a high score simply because Jarboe is pretty sexy for a demented whore. Maybe it's because she's a demented whore.
Note. I mean a literal whore. As in. Prostitute. I loathe the use of that word in any other context. -

Good God that was terrible. Absolutely horrendous. Those people had less talent than most emo bands, for God's sake. I know it's dark and moody and such but it's also a fucking shitty attempt at music.
Anyway.

See, I've got to disagree about the Chili Peppers. Any band who manages to create such an original sound automatically comes much higher in my ratings than most of the shit (Kaisers, Strokes, Fratellis, The View... I could go on) that plagues British radio these days... don't know if you Americans are infected by this crap. -

um.... really... yes they did. No-one had ever blended funk, punk and rap before. I'm not referring to BSSM onwards, have you heard for instance Police Helicopter? -

The blending of pre-existing genres does not count as "original" in my book. I see it as an inevitability. -

I am not saying my definition is a be-all and end-all. It's how I see it. There are like. Ten or so original bands in my book. And that's it. Everything else is a derivative. The blending of pre-existing genres does not count as "original" in my book. I see it as an inevitability.
