I agree with Geoff. What happened to some of the other prelims like: Create the Funniest Park/Ride and Create the Best Member Themed Ride and stuff like that? I'd like to see one or two of those kinda things put in there (and I remember there have been the last two prelims) even if it means bumping up the dates.
And even though you can make the argument that those are usually the 'weaker' rounds, so what? At least they kinda mix things up a little to keep the prelims a little more interesting... -

Any parkmaker, active or retired, may enter the Pro Tour simply by asking. That's how Iris had it in the past, even though the rule was rarely used, since most retired parkmakers didn't really come back.So I'm a little confused... do you have to win a spotlight during prelims to get the exemption, or is it if you have won a spotlight in the past you are exempt? Or how does the exemption work with retired parkmakers?
Either way, I might still build stuff for the prelims just to practice here and there. Get back up to speed. -

A thought occured for a good prelim challange to add in. Create the Funniest Member Themed Ride. I can think of so many options for this and I'm sure others could too. Weather it's making fun of past exploits of cetain members (banned most likely =P) or just exaggerating their building style.
What do you guys think about this? -

To expand on my earlier thought...
I think we should have some specific theme prelim rounds, so that a real "winner" can shine through. Although, broad and general prelim themed rounds have worked in the past, I think we need to mix it up a bit.
"Best Kiddie Themed Ride"
"Best War Zone Themed Ride"
etc. etc.
Although specific, they are broad enough to pull in all kinds of different entries. For example the "Best War Zone Themed Ride" can range from a pirate water ride, to a WWII adventure ride. I guess what I am trying to say is, bring back the best hotel round -

...PT3 has to start while my computer's FUBAR.
I'll rush something for the Beemer round if I can get a working PC...

Hm, well I'm going to finish my solo and hope for the best. If it doesn't end up getting a runner up (or better), then I'll try and put together a coaster for one of the later rounds. -

Pyro you can send in a prelim if you want and I will post it, but being your a (Now active?!) NE Parkmaker. I would not count it officially to be fair to the nps.
Also yes I did condense the prelims as people can get in with designs and RUs. If you want to make a hotel or funny park I guess I could except them in the wildcard round. -

On the topic of prelim themes, what about "Best Super Hero Themed Ride"? Green Lantern all the way!! Or Ghost Rider would be another good one. Even "Best Super Villain Themed Ride" would be awesome. Just throwing some stuff out there.
Oh, and by the way: If our "Adventure Ride" is a dark ride, should the judge(s) be able to see on the inside? And what exactly qualifies as an "Adventure Ride"?Edited by Xin, 24 April 2007 - 04:01 PM.

Do those kinds of things for the Bonus Rounds, assuming that actually gets allowed. Although those are some good ideas. On the topic of prelim themes, what about "Best Super Hero Themed Ride"? Well, yes he(they) would have to be able to see the ride by either removing the scenery or the land. And adventure rides are pretty much any kind of ride that is more theme than thrill. Like a water coaster, for instance, or Indiana Jones at Disneyland. -

What I mean is, should you be able to see all the little moving parts on the inside, that the peeps would see? I'm not a big fan of that kind of style. We should be able to use our imagination for what's on the inside. Besides, the only place that kind of thing looks good is RCT3, but it's a lot of work.Edited by Xin, 24 April 2007 - 05:09 PM.
