Don't get me wrong, Modified isn't the be all and end all utility and it is very much in its infancy, however i just don't understand why everyone is being so negative towards it when it is essentially helping people who can't invest the time, even if it is only 2 hours.

Anywho i think any further discussion should be in the designated thread and give this one back people posting screens.

Phil, you know we share similar ideas on how the game is to be played. Changing files every time you are looking at a park is totally annoying and nobody will be willing to do that on the long run.
People saying it is good for the game have absolutely no idea.
This community is a lot too small to loose even more players who do not want to bother with this. So keep your hands from it and take these few minutes to learn how to do it without a modified g1.dat.
Seeing people spent days on single buildings shows it can't be asked too much to learn follow a simple tutorial saying search for the line saying 'xyz' and change one value.

I really wonder what happened to this community ... but then again it was so foreseeable.

Because nobody wants to waste an hour on finding the correct g1.dat to every savedgame.
And this will happen in a year or two when every park is using its own g1.dat.

How can people be so shortsighted?
It happened to LL, when nobody was able to find the patches anymore and that was only two files and now you are doing even worse to RCT2.

Stop this torture of the game!

I have also wondered how people can't do simple train merges and stuff like that. Shit, I taught myself how to do every simple hack there is just by messing around with rct2 and 8Cars. It's not that hard people... just take an hour and you'll have learned all the basic hacks you need. Another couple and you'll have winhack figured out as well. And that really isn't all that much time.

I guess a few people have the same feelings toward codex for LL and they're probably right. This is a little different though in that it effectively removes any little kink that people have worked around for years. Is it easier? Sure. Is it necessary or even all that good for the game? That's up for debate.

In all honesty I've had the same feelings toward rct2 though, it just seems like any little object you need can just be created when you need it for whatever 1/16th tile detail you need. I never liked that and think it kinda kills the fun of the game a bit. I've alwyas felt that rct2 was more like a kit build where you're just putting pieces together but in LL you're literally building things right out of the ground. Some people really don't like that but I find it more interesting/challanging. To each his own I guess....

Why is it the ones that are the most vocal against the use of this tool are the ones that do not build anymore? I'm not trying to be harsh or disrespectful but the truth is, what have we seen from Magnus, posix or MA lately (to name a few). If this helps the few that are still active, by all means keep it going.

    I quote my previous quote:

"In my early years of RCT, I tried to take other styles and adapt myself to them. That was the worst thing I could have done. I found it to be more like work and not fun. When you build for yourself and yourself only, the game really explodes and you have fun building what ever it is that you build."

This tool makes it more fun for ME. If that means I lose a few people in seeing my parks as I intended, sorry to say, so be it.

Really nice architecture nin, just fill in the inside more so you don't see the ground through the windows.

Oh yes. Wonderful building. I like it a lot.

just sink the exit huts. We've been doing that shit in LL since before half of you started playing.

And what about the chairlift station ground huh? Did you even notice that it disapeared?
  • geewhzz%s's Photo

    you're completely correct.

    Wrong.
  • ][ntamin22%s's Photo
Yeah, sunken entrance/exits are still usable by peeps....
my only problem with RCTmodified is that it replaces some default textures instead of just adding more, but I think the advantages outweigh that anyway.

What have I done lately? I looked at your parks, for one. If that's not enough to qualify my opinion as a viewer of your parks, then you've got to sort out your priorities.

And I'm not being negative against the application. I'm negative against the retarded advertisement going on in this place and the ignorance of some people regarding hacks. It's not a miracle cure, when nearly everything (except land textures) have already been cured. Need to know how to do something? ASK.

And what about the chairlift station ground huh? Did you even notice that it disapeared?

lower it a quarter step. Or for you RCT2ers, just raise a quarter tile land block over it. Not to mention that his park isn't peepable, so it doesn't matter if you completely remove the station anyway, as long as it operates.

And really, stop trying to make me look like an idiot.

    Nice butt,

Die kerk zou van steen moeten zijn ;) en niet van hout, anders vin ik hem niet zo grieks en zo een bel boven kan ook geen kwaad :D

    Learn it!
Takes about two hours to learn. Just follow levis' guide.

AND saves us from all the messing around with various g1.dats or do you really think a lot of people are willing to take the effort of looking up which one is needed for every park, especially in a couple of years?
Or just hide the exit huts clever, like we did for years.

I have to agree with Magnus, Posix and a few others on this.

I find the people who use this RCTModified to be very lazy tbh. And I can guarentee that I get more satisfaction when I do a hack right and get it to look like that than what someone who just uses RCTModified to make it look like that.

We survived for so many years without it, but now that it's about, I'm scared that I wont be able to open any parks anymore and enjoy them, and all the effort that could have been put into them, because I know that they'll have used the easy and time saving way to do it.

@ ChillerHookey: yeah, that looks better. :)
@ Steve: Yep. From Norway. :)
